    Lovely walk, it's when you get lost that you find interesting things along the way. Well done and informative video, nice to see the cottage.

    I sometimes get lost for the same reason, to take -- what appears to me -- a more scenic path! But they say "All the roads lead to Rome", and I'm sure I could find my way home from Rome 😜
    I enjoyed your narration a lot! You've motivated me to read the whole Wikipedia article about T. Hardy and I thank you Rob for that.

    • @TheCountryTraveller
      @TheCountryTraveller  3 года назад +1

      I'm pleased you liked it Toto. It was too easy to get lost! When the weather improves I'm going to do a walk around Dorchester and that will include Max Gate, where Hardy lived later on and his statue which is at the top of the main street.
      I've checked Crop and Zoom in Filmora - tx for that. It works very well for 'large subjects' like a river or a view. It doesn't work so well for more precise subjects - birds on a bird feeder, for example - too much of the subject disappears. I will start to take some portrait shots on my phone to use with #shorts

      @TotoTVWorld 3 года назад

      @@TheCountryTraveller I'm looking forward to it!
      And you are right about the zoom, some shots taken in landscape format just can't be converted to portrait. In that case black bars on top and bottom are the better.

    Thank You. Greetings from Opole, Poland. Never been to Hardy's Cottage. The closest I got was Taunton where I worked (ages ago) at a fruit farm. Beautiful, too. Right now I'm reading Under the Greenwood Tree, Hardy's first important novel. Very English writer, and definitely a good novel.

      Hello Less is More. I'm pleased you viewed my Thomas Hardy video, I hope you enjoyed it. We couldn't go into the cottage then because of Covid. I have been inside before though - it's quite small. I went to school in Dorset and we read several of Hardy's books. I hope Spring is arriving in Poland - it's very late here! Best wishes, Rob

    You know, whenever I come to those horrible clearing areas the paths are gone 🤬 They’re supposed to tidy up so that people can find their way, but they never do 😖 Great walk and interesting narration as always 😊👍

      Tx very much SND. Yes we were completely baffled, there was no sign of any paths at all. It was a nice walk though. I'm waiting for those warm days to come back. At least we have daylight still :)

    Since I was a young chap growing up in rural Ireland I fell in love with Dorset and Hardy. It's my dream to visit this part of England. Im hoping to go in a few weeks, but it may not happen. Are the guesthouses plentiful? I'd feel it a sin to stay in a hotel in these parts

    • @TheCountryTraveller
      @TheCountryTraveller  2 года назад +1

      Hi P Mac C, thanks for watching the vid, much appreciated. It's a very nice part of the world. The nearest town is Dorchester, where you will fing Hardy's statue. This is where you will find most accommodation. A google search will highlight what is available. I hope that you can visit Dorset soon. Best wishes, Rob

    I would be lost as well on that path:-) This is the beautiful countryside far from the madding crowd, but I think I never will understand the English system where private land is not necessarily free to roam. I would quickly have been sent to Australia if I brought my hiking habits to England's green and pleasant lands:)

    • @TheCountryTraveller

      Haha getting lost seems to come easily to us! This is just down the road from the Tolpuddle Martyrs village, which I expect you know. Most of them were transported although they were pardoned and they came back to Dorset, unlike most of the other convicts. It was a very nice August day, not too hot. Just the sort of day that I wish we had now :)
