Coating the frame/fork with a paint stripper and placing in a large trash bag for a few hours or over night will make the removal process more enjoyable. Great build. Thanks for sharing. 😎
Just buy a pair of tire levers. They're extremely inexpensive and effective. They're made of really hard plastic as not to damage the rim or wheel surface. I bought my pair for 5$ at my local shop. That was for some quality Park Tool ones.
Like the screwdrivers I used when I was younger ! I could hear the groans from the old timers when I saw you attack the tire with the crescent wrench. They're right though. Plastic tire levers are cheap and won't hurt the bike.
Come on, everyone knows you should use the handles from spoons :-) but most importantly of all… 1. start at the valve and 2. squeeze the rest of the tyre into the centre of the rim where it is less diameter and so gives the tyre the small extra free space so it will come off usually without needing any force from a tyre lever even… you’re welcome!
Well done for a first time, need to overhaul bottom bracket, headset , front & rear wheels, then it would be perfect . Like the saddle very much, where did u buy that , any link on amazon would be much appreciated. Cheers
I don't think I've ever seen a bike restoration project like yours - a ho hum 3 speed that's seen better days, and made to look like something a debronair would ride. Really cool.
Good job for your first time. I have no room to talk. I restored one very similar old Raleigh and it was so much I didnt know. And so many different tools. I hope you get a shed full of everytool you dream of. Bike looks amazing. Cheers.
Incredible restoration given this was your first time. i recommend wet sanding between paint layers. Spray cans tend to make the paint less smooth, and smoother paint lasts longer and is less prone to chipping. Also, you could use nafta or paint thinner to clean the rear sprocket of the bike. Just make sure you're outside if you're using thinner. That stuff is incredibly strong.
I like your videos with the voice over. I'm not a world traveler, but your English makes we want to try Europe. I hope the politcal stress & war of 2023 is not impactimg you too much. Peace to everyone!

Very nice work. I love it when I see old bikes kept alive--if the goal of a bicycle is to be a little more green, it makes more sense than buying a new one. (My daily rider bike is of about the same vintage, and you've made me think about doing something similar, so thank you for the inspiration!)

Great job for first time restoration. you could have refreshed the grease in the crank axle too and changed the ball bearing rings as are probably worn out too.
Good job as for Your first bicycle re-vitalization :) IMHO You could of try to find some reproductions of original stickers, to keep it as close to it's original form as it was. It would keep that bike's character, naked frame just looks kinda.. soulless ;P Beside that - great work, keep it up. After I have finished with my first bike it became my hobby, to make something special out of a "rusty trash". My first bicycle was German Centurion with Magura's hydraulic breaks, afterwards I re-vitalised 80's Peugeot road bicycle for my brother, then again German Rabeneick Fahrrad 1951 and now I'm again at 76' Peugeot, this time for myself. Next in line will be Polish classic road bicycle ZZR Jaguar, I'm gathering original Czech and Polish parts right now. Regards from Poland and keep the great work ;)
Thanks! I was going for a very clean look, but i get what you're saying with the stickers. Sounds like you got a real passion for bikes aswell. Keep up the good work. There can never be too many classic bikes on the roads again! 😁

Nice job and a lot of work!! Good idea to use a simple cable holder for the hubcable. Why did you not use the old bicycle switch headlamp? This lamp is pretty and made by metal. You can buy a LED E10 bulp lamp to update the old lamp! Greetings from Hamburg, Oliver
A pro would have removed the fork and cranks in order to clean, inspect, and regrease the bottom bracket and headset, and would have disassembled the hubs for the same reason. His "restored" bike still has [probably] 35-year-old dirty dried up grease in all the bearings, and they are probably all out of adjustment and possibly damaged (e.g., pitted cones, and/or cups, and/or bearings).
taking out the bottom bracket and replacing the bearings in them as well as in the headset is probably a good idea since the bike is so old and well as regreasing some of the parts
Hi Benny, yes it's a sort of bicycle license plate. You had to get them renewed each year as a sort of bicycle tax (as we like to tax everything here in Belgium) 😁
