You can also drag the tattoo directly onto the model, it will ask if you want it as mask or in a channel, and then it is directly applied as warp without you needing to set it up manually.
This popped up in my suggested vids at the right time, just opened painter and everything has changed haha Loving the new baker, being able to visualise the cages and how each bake is going in real time is going to save a tonne of headaches!
Great video. Quick videos like this are so useful. With so many programs and new features added its easy to miss something important. Keep doing these, and thank you!
Thank you very much for the video on the new stuff! The warp feature is an awesome new addition for sure! I would be super happy with a stable and working Smear and Blur tool to be honest. The current Blur is a very soft Smear but there's times when it just.. won't. You can work with with the Blur filter and mask that off.. but bluring stuff directly is just more precise... well... would be.
"the controllers for this is just W E and R. Just the same thing as a regular conventional 3D software" as a Blender user this is BLASPHEMY ! just kidding, very well done video for showcasing all the new stuff. I'm loving these new features ESPECIALLY the environment alignment setting to the camera. That sh*t right there is a "enable and forget" type of change. and BTW, i am Turkish and never heard of Niyazi Selimoglu before. Gonna check him out ASAP because this is a sick sculpt.
Thanks for the video, reading the change notes I thought favorites were a weird add, like they just make another bin, but this is much better. Also, the refresh mesh thing is a life saver. I paint on CAD converted by other artists and I have to go fix non-manifold geo, lamina edges or null normals all day (since they soften the edges of the whole mesh they're on). Having the quick reload will save me tons of time vs proj config window.
Hello In Adobe Substance 3D Painter software, when I create a new paint layer and make changes in the Material section, those changes are applied to all existing paint layers. Is there a way to prevent this situation so that a change in one paint layer does not change the settings and materials of the other paint layers?
Stellar tips. I'm starting to jump back into Substance now that I've been out of it for a few years since I might be jumping back into games after my current job. We'll have to see how it goes! 🤞
I'd really like to have a non destructive curve painting system, e.g. dragging a curve's points around the mesh at any time (like the warp projection tool) , using mesh edges as basis and guide for curves to follow combined with something like roll brush and stitches.
question please. how u make that uv wrap seperated but still count as 1 asset ? im trying to texture a ship. but it got pixelated cause the uv map are cramp together into 1 UV. if i use 4k texture, it would be too expensive. please help.
Thanks very much for the tips, can't believe I didn't know about Alt+Click to only have that channel active on the layer! I really wish they had fixed the eyedropper at dpi scales larger than 100% tho. I have a 4K monitor set to 150% to be able to read things but unfortunately the eyedropper still makes everything huge so the thing I wanted to sample is now cut off the edge of the screen.
Nah, these exist. The gray dotted square next to the blend mode and opacity gives you a checklist of all your meshs, which you can then select what you want visible on that layer. Then on the left of the pause button at the top, you can click that eye with a line through it, and it will only have what you've checked visible. Also works for any layers that are in a folder you've applied this to as well. It's super useful.
You can also "explode" your mesh and keep parts off to the side. If it's not too heavy you could also keep a model that's connected and you could paint on either ones if you have offset the UVs.
@@nothankyoutube Yeah, I know the workflows...' an unclean hippy' is right... I would love to take my models to that level but you can’t buy this product. You can only pay monthly and im refusing to use anti consumer practices. Is there Anything out there I can actually buy?
Great information. One little thing, you often speed up your talking at the end of sentences and it's hard to follow what you said. Maybe less coffee? :) You have our permission to slow down. We want to learn. Also, occasionally some text callouts like for the UV layout you showcased would really help. I'm not familiar with that layout and I had to guess at how it's spelled to look it up. Thank you!
Its insane how long most of these features have needed to be in and how simple they seem, but im not a software dev so i cant exactly comment on difficulty
I'm rather surprised you aren't using the latest build of painter 8.3 (firstly) because the baker is night and day improved. #2, you didn't touch on how you could now use all of your layers in a folder and apply "blend modes" like you could in Photoshop to the entire stack.
You can also drag the tattoo directly onto the model, it will ask if you want it as mask or in a channel, and then it is directly applied as warp without you needing to set it up manually.
The feature to isolate meshes within the same object is also super helpful. Maybe not as new as the rest but some coworkers don't know about it yet

U can use p for color picking. Without the color window open 😊

I can't believe it's taken this long for them to finally add these most basic features.
Yaaay new videos!!!
A lot more to come! We're properly restarting the channel:)

So glad painting is better in painter! Thanks!
It really is!
The reimport option will be super helpful! Thanks
Excellent features indeed! Thanks for sharing this.
Warp projection is a game-changer.
I like these short videos with nice explanations. Great additions ^^

That character course is stuning texturing with sp .
Nice, just picked up Painter and its great to see such thoughtful additions to it.
I've used UDIMS with painter back in 2020 for my UE4 short film. How is this now a "new" feature?
Yo! thnx ! the environment light is so useful, specially for the bottom parts
I've been using Substance since 2019. UDIMs were available way back then.
Thought the same
Thanks guys!
Nice and awesome as always.
Thank you for the nice presentation! Very good new features, indeed. Can you also use symmetry for the wrap tool?
The fact that "reimport mesh" hasn't been added until recently has cost me literal days of my life
Very informative and useful! Hopefully more of these in the future!
Thanks!
cannot wait for what is to come!

Vector Pen with dynamic strokes tool would be great, nice idea!

For warp without any layer you could directly drag and drop on the model geometry

Have these features added to the steam 2022 version or is it just added to the subscription version?
But they forgot to add the basic/essential feature - Hiding geometry/localizing selected objects

Is there already some ai based products in substance? I am new to texturing so if not, it think it would help me with more automated ai features...
hey guys, when are you showing prop artists some love? Would love a course like this character one but focused on prop or even envs! :)
pretty helpful
UDIMs are in substance last 3 years I am still using 2020 version and I am working with UDIMs regularly
Yeah, I, too, was pretty surprised to see it as a "new feature". It's been there for ages xD
please make a tutorial on USD pipeline
duel symmetry axis is something simple i've wanted for awhile, hopefully adobe add it down the line
great stuff, thanks!
I really like the new baking room they just added this month! I also like that it can leverage RT cores on Nvidia's RTX cards
Worst ux from adobe. I didin't like it.

The singular of "vertices" is "vertex" 😇
I'm guessing I don't have access to these features since I only got the Steam Version, 2021.
need bake/project basecolor as in marmoset, but with UDIM

Looks like a sculpt by Niyazi Selimoglu
Oh it very much is, we used it for our Face Texturing for Substance Painter. With his permission of course
Is the eyedropper (holding 'I' and letting go) SUPER jittery/buggy for anyone else?
its bad that we cannot buy upgrade for our perpetual licences :(
not latest version SP ))) where is new bake? :D
It would be new if this video was uploaded months ago, most of these features have been around for quite a bit.

We actually recorded this video before 8.3 came out :) Will definitely do videos on the new baker
Like so.. Like so. Like so.
i would love it if Adobe would stop the subscription feature
aces hehe
Yeah, now they just need to add proper features back and not force us to go into Designer for basic tasks.
Did I just noticed a new intro..?
You did! :D
warp projections is a game changer, makes other programs irrelevant
XD
