    Dude so crazy you've almost reviewed every episode. That's really impressive! You absolutely need to make a compilation video of every review in order when you are finished.

      A compilation would be funny to see because it’s mostly just 4/10’s for Moffat and Chibnal’s eras

    I think the best cyberman episode is the World Enoght and Time and The Doctor Falls. It really felt like a horror story where everyone dies.

    • @lesigh1749
      @lesigh1749 Год назад +4

      Those two are definitely among of the best at least from Nu Who. They restore the original body horror of the Cybermen in that, where they are basically walking human cadavers kept animated by medical implants. Most of the New series turn them into Ironman suits of armour with no human body left inside, and that takes a lot of the creepy factor away from them.

    I honestly thought I was in the minority for liking this episode and that you were going to gut it like a fish but that 7/10 is exactly how I rate it too and everything you said, I’ve said in its defence. Moffat couldn’t write the Cybermen so he should’ve tied Gaiman down to a deal to write a multi-series arc starting with Nightmare in Silver that truly expanded the lore of the Cyber Wars, culminating in him laying the groundwork for a Journey’s End level Cybermen story that had callbacks to multiple episodes and stories prior.

    I really quite like this episode. Downside is the kids, but the setting, Mr. Clever, Warwick Davis' character and the stakes of the story all keep me entertained

    - Which one of you said that?
    - Me.
    That’s probably one of the best moments of the episode if not even the series

    neil gaiman is one of my fave writers with such dedication to world building and it will forever sadden me we only have two doctor who episodes from him. his works being present throughout my life (doctor who, star dust and coraline being staples of my childhood) while the adaptions of sandman and good omens are present in my adult life. his stories are so gripping and he has such a passion for storytelling i wish more writers had

    Literally the only thing I remember about this episode was the mental battle between the Doctor and his implant... and I always hated it because it felt overreacted, melodramatic, and above all else; pointless.
    Literally nothing else about the episode stuck in my memory. Tons of Smith era episodes I hate and remember quite a lot of, but this one? No, just the mental chess battle, maybe the amusement park... and that's it

    • @mediakira6621

      I agree. Honestly, Smiths era i struggle with when rewatching the show . I dunno…it just feels off to me after series 5. The brighter grading, eh or so music, whimsical feel, I dunno, jjst feels more like im watching a kids spinoff of Doctor who instead of actual Doctor who. Expect Vincent and the Doctor and The Girl Who Waited.
      Smith’s decent actor but when he goes really hammy and childish, I look at my watch and wait for him to stop. This episode wasn’t very good to me. Cybermen werent , they just felt ,ike robots, their walk was silly, the voices felt like robotic bale Batman. What makes them scary is the body horror.
      Kids were terrible, kept changing accents nearly every scene.

    14:25 This is a reference to Classic Who- one of the 2nd Doctor serials is literally called "Tomb of the Cybermen", and it is about a hidden sleeping colony of Cybermen being woken up.
    It's basically one of the Cybermen's "things".

    The Mr. Clever character and Smith's interactions with himself made this episode great. Honestly we need another episode (or maybe even an Arc) where the doctor (or someone controlling him) is the villain like this again! Similar to the Dream Lord in Amy's Choice - the Doctor as his own enemy and the highlighting of the Doctors darker side works so well.
    Just a shame the kids are here - thankfully they don't do too much as the episode goes on. So lame.

    Why can't we get a new Cyberman story set DURING the Cyber Wars instead of after it in stories like this or Ascension to the Cybermen? Maybe because the writers are hesitant to directly acknowledge the body horror behind the concept.

    The worst part about this episode for me was a few throwaway instances of WTF god-tier technology that the human empire apparently has. A single bomb that can implode an entire galaxy? A space drive that can basically teleport a ship to the other side of the universe in seconds? Not even the Timelords or Daleks at the height of the time war have this level of technology.

    • @Jedi_Spartan
      @Jedi_Spartan Год назад +2

      For the ship engine point, my head canon is that species with temporal capabilities find that type of tech to be pointless as they'd presumably be able to subvert it through using time travel to arrive at whatever destination they need to only seconds after leaving (alternatively, Nightmare In Silver is at a point in the Timeline where Humanity has access to time travel in some form and has a basic version of it to subvert distance issues). For the galaxy sized destruction, we have little context behind the build up (eg: it could have been a desperate measure that took decades to build) and since Davros was able to build something hypothetically able to destroy ALL OF REALITY, it's possible that the Daleks or Time Lords had similar tech during the Time War.
