- In north-east Honesdale, Pennsylvania, there are Jews training with firearms in the Israeli Tactical Training Academy. Their goals is for every synagogue to have an armed Jew ready to defend it. The founder of Cherev Gideon, the tactical training academy, is Yonatan Stern. Yonatan was raised in the settlement of Kiryat Arbah and Served in Israeli Defence Forces in the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, an infantry, counter-terrorism battalion specifically created for religious men. He has since been living in the United States for over a decade where he has built his firearms training academy.
He and other highly qualified veterans of Israel Defense Force combat units train responsible citizens and law enforcement to defend themselves and those around them using Israeli warfare tactics .
Every Jew, especially Jews who live abroad, need to own a weapon, know how to use it and be ready to defend himself.

Why is a foreign army training on American soil? In uniform, no less.
It's not that another army is training there, they're teaching civillians combat tactics and shooting.

As a Swede, I am not a fan of gun ownership or gun culture in general because I find it dangerous and toxic. However I am above all a friend of Israel and a friend of the Jewish people who have suffered so much persecution, so I actually think this is a great idea and Jewish communities (as well as other vulnerable groups) should be allowed to form armed groups if they so wish. One day I want to visit Israel with my transgender wife and experience your beautiful culture first hand. Shalom!

Sadly, most of the comments here seem to underscore the need for training efforts like yours. With all of the influence the Jewish community exerts in the entertainment and political spheres, any effort like this one to demystify firearms and promote readiness to take responsibility for one's own self-defense has got to be a good thing, not only for Jews, but for our nation as a whole.
