The first LP is astonishing. With each release it became more contrived as they cosplayed being Trouble instead of being themselves. They played a couple of mainstream rock gigs in their best denim outfits before imploding. They should be proud of that first record - it's volcanic.
When you listen back to Sacrilege, Cerebral Fix, English Dogs, Onslaught, compared to the more obvious 'diet thrash' stuff that came later, like Xentrix, Acid Reign etc, you realise how underrated those former bands were.
Legendary underground band, it's popular among punks and those who love weird mixtures of punk and metal. I wouldn't call it thrash metal at all. The last lp is a typical doom metal (nothing strange there, many crust bands loved to play slow metal too). I intreviewed their ex bassist Tony for my paper zine in around 2007. He was active on my space then and it was easy to chat with him.
Bought "Within the Prophecy" when it came out and still enjoy listening to it today. It's one of my three favourite albums from 1987 and my favourite of the three albums Sacrilege released. I also love the raw debut (which reminds me a bit of Détente's "Recognize No Authority", which in turn is, together with "Within the Prophecy" and Znowhite's "Act of God", one of my three favourite female-fronted Thrash Metal albums). While it seems that Lynda's vocals fit better with the music on the first two albums, I still like "Turn Back Trilobite" and think it features some beautiful guitar work.
I've been listening to Sacrilege since back in the day. Prophecy and Trilobite get played most. I really dug what they were doing with Trilobite. It was so different, but vox and musicianship was there. The lyrics too.
An early band that was never huge outside of underground but they inspired great bands like bolt thrower & tons of latter generic crust punks(who could never touch sacrilege or bolt thrower in reality hehe!!))
their demos kicked total ass at the time.then Anglican Scrape Attic flexi....total shredding metalcore punk...Within The Prophecy was great too but my favourite album is Turn Back Trilobite, despite it being their slowest.fantastic band.
Behind the Realms of Madness and Within the Prophecy are true masterpieces!!!!!
A brilliant and underrated band, also a big influence on Bolt Thrower!
If you're a Sacrilege fan, check out Lifeless Dark from Boston.
They are indeed pretty close, thanks for the suggestion.
You're right bro, they are so close. lifeless dark is great
Lifeless Dark is the perfect Sacrilege worship band.
Such a great and underrated band! Good to see them getting appreciation.
This is a magnificent conclusion to the great legacy of Sacrilege. Your channel is criminally underrated as is the band!

This video is fuckin awesome and can clarify many people about this great band!

All those bands also came from a punk background.

0:25 Guy on the right HAS to be who Murderface's look is based on.
I thought they were always doom. Father time just goes too hard. Sabe with soul search
To me it' metal punk...then the 3rd album can be classified as doom metal ...
Hi, what are your thought about a Chastain ranking.
Greetings, Gunnar
I've got several Chastain albums, but not even half of his discography, so I'm not qualified ;-)
I went as far as Realms, I don’t like big changes
Loved Scarilege from the early demo days, then their third album came out; one of the biggest disappointments in listening to music.
Just discovered sacrilege, crusty af
