2024 Update: Devil's Roar Treasure Vaults got a lot easier to access! Just select an Ashen Treasure Vault from the Gold Hoarders section of the Quest Table and either sail or dive to your first destination! We stream every Saturday here on RUclips and on Twitch at www.twitch.tv/JonBardcore
For anyone else who wants to try this method, some guy told me to put all the chests just outside the vault door from the vault and usually the door closes right when you get the last chest. Once all the chests are outside and the door shuts you can then proceed to collect all the loose gold on the ground while the vault fills up with water to get EVERYTHING from the vault. Then drown and respawn. I also park my ship one island away and just leave the rowboat tucked away on the vault island, that way I can respawn and loot to my hearts content without attracting attention. Now I will try to use his stack method and really pile up my vault runs.
Fast forward to the future, now if you are there, they know where you’ll end up. I tried it for the first time, I had three islands already visited, on the fourth, came back to my ship sunk, only gone for a minute, but also my row boat still there. Never saw nobody, only clue was the NPC running away from me. Came back with ship, valuable loot, emissary flag and row boat gone. Goes back to your intro, your sails won’t be seen nore even remember. Another high rank experienced possibly cursed player going up against a noob.
@@drpsnwbrdr I had trouble understanding some of what you said, so if I'm misunderstanding something, let me know. But from my experience recently the Roar is still OK to be solo. Just be sure to only go in for the special chest, instead of trying to get every single chest in the vault by yourself. It's crazy to 100% a vault solo, cause as you said, people know where you're going.
Keep making these commedation guide videos! You do it so differently from all the other ones who are bland and boring. You put good effort in your videos, which is a rare thing seen on youtube today. I have just subscribed, and hope to see more of this type of content soon!
This is the first video of yours I've seen and Jon, I gotta say- I didn't have this much fun for a long time watching any SoT video! Keep it up man, nice work you're doing out here. ;)
A tip I discovered yesterday, if you get the Ashen Reaches vault, the harpoons of the ship can reach the pointy rocks on the top end of the tunnel, where there's usually a stool to take. So you can take the loot up there after you get what you need instead of having to go down to the shore.
For the new players: You need to do vaults for certain commendations and titles, but, if all you want is Chest of Ancient Tributes for money or to earn the special unlockable Ancient Tribute sails (you need 50 of them)...just go farm the Treasury of the Sunken Shores or the Treasury of the Secret Wilds at the north ends of the map. Completing them is faster, generally more 'fun' if you prefer combat vs. digging and map reading, most other players don't go around those areas unless they themselves are trying to raid them, and you get an Ancient Tributes chest every time you complete them. The Treasury of the Lost Ancients also gives you an Ancient Tributes chest, but it's map location makes regularly raiding a lot more risky for getting robbed by other pirates and ship sunk. Thankfully, the mermaid who transfers your treasure from the treasury will be available forever until you leave the server or prompt it to release the treasure. Players from other crews are unable to release your treasure from them, so it will be safe for you to come back later if needed - even if you get sunk (it happens!...).
I've just stumbled upon this video only days after getting my ancient vault sails & I wish I had found it sooner as I acquired the commendation using the captain lvl25 quests & you're dead right about having to sail half way across the map to unlock the Vault. I'm pleased I did it but boy it would have been faster I. The devil's roar. Keep it up & keep these great videos coming.... I'm a commendation hunter myself, so I've subscribed & ill be checking out for more of your videos. Thank you 👍
0:40, Even thogh there are the Local Hazards, The Ashen Vaults are often a better option because PVP Players are less likely to attempt to stal the Ashen Vaults then then they are a normal Vault.
Hahah, it was something I wasn't even planning when recording but when I was making it all come together in editing, I was like... gotta do it. :D Thanks for watching!
Showing off these sails when sailing around always feels pretty power as sometimes. I've experienced some players running from me because of my sails. Meanwhile I just want to give my loot to them🤣 cheers 🍻 Jon!
i just cant believe this man is at 1k subs the quality feels absolute!! your narration, visuals, some funny memes here and there are awsm!! subbed for sure
Depending on what level you are, just get the low level voyages from the shipwright. A high level gold hoarder vault will make you have to get at most like 5 map pieces, in contrast to stone keys only going up to 3.
We do talk about that in the video a bit later on! After testing I'm still more a fan of Devil's Roar because the low level keys aren't region specific. Grab it in the Wilds but it's Crescent Isle for example.
this is why i always do athena in devils roar. it takes 40min, no other players and the vulcanos errupts like once every 200 years. super chill since the loot is worth more and doing something easier
I’ve done this method a lot, and there are a few points to add to this. You should first of all in my opinion not do this solo try and get to a brig atleast, the reason here is that you can speed run the keys faster. Since you don’t actually need to get the map pieces on you ship, you can just have one person sail the ship from island to island, never stopping, while the other two go out and dig up the map pieces. Secondly, if you do plan on making cash with this it is nicer to have more people carrying loot as it does get quite tedious taking 30 pieces of loot, per vault from the vault to the ship. In my experience it takes about the half the time of collecting keys to carry loot which is painful with a full galleon already. Also I’d like to share the explanation on how to easily do the riddle. You only need 1 key for this method. It was used in the video but not explained. You input 1 key and get the first symbol. Turn that piller and run over to the pillar on the left. This last pillar is a combination of all the symbols on the combination. Since you have to main symbol from the first pillar it comes down to a 50/50 for the other two pillars as the last pillar always has two options which include the first key. For further efficency you should remark that the second pillar has single chains and the third one has double chains. Also you need to take into account the direction in which the chains and keys are facing. Hope this can help some of you out. Gl to all of you on the seas
2 months have passed since this video dropped, and season 9 has come and several changes have been introduced, and some of those changes have been HUGE! For starters, loot now spawns directly to your ships top deck upon being hit with a harpoon! Another change is the addition of ALL Ashen Voyages to Captains Voyages!!! Still no Ashen Lost Shipment though😢
@@JonBardcore Best about it, is you can redo the video showing a more streamlined process and probably use assets from the old video for the new video 😂
You mencioned that you didnt purchase lower Quest voyages because are unavailable. I think thats not true, if you purchase captancy voyages that implies vaults at lvl 25 with the shipwright you could afford that vault ir you activate that mission on the roar. Low level voyages implies that the quest are stone keys, required only 3 map pieces and is much faster than the regular voyage purchased from the gold hoarder at morrows peak. Try it, and if its possible maybe you could try unlock other achievments as "pick up all the mounds of gold inside a vault" Good video.
Hi Jon! I had an old playthrough playlist of yours from your gaming channel saved years ago (during the J2 years) and while I was rewatching it yesterday, the whole channel got deleted... I didn't know of any changes to that channel, I hadn't been there in a while and maybe these weren't meant to be public anymore, but I apologize nonetheless and hope I didn't cause you any grief!
No worries! I've hidden the channel temporarily since there was a little confusion on which was the "main" channel. I'll bring it back out in the future when I'm ready for it to serve its new purpose as a stream/VOD repository.
I remember I had stacked a bunch of treasure and got stuck in the middle of a volcano and my ship was burning so much that water was evaporating faster then it could flow in ultimately, my ship sunk or despond because of the damage
@@JonBardcore another one for me I somehow managed to beach my sloop completely on a island but could still turn and that I got it off the island but then it despond and other players stole my loot I got a good laugh out of it seeing a sloop completely beaches
I don't get how people get so lucky with devil's roar. I did 1 vault there recently, the volcanos were erupting 24/7, after every 2 chests I brought out, I had to board my ship to put out fires and patch up. After finally harpooning the loot, the volcano stopped erupting and I decided to do a skeletons orders on the same island, it took like 2 minutes, ship sunk in the meantime. I'm not saying it's hard to survive at all, it's mostly just very annoying to deal with, but I guess I could get better volcano luck next time.
My recommendation is keep your ship out of volcano range (watch for falling embers) and go in via rowboat. Even if the rowboat is destroyed, you can put your treasure on the beach for a quick harpoon pickup
You're still going to have certain players go after you. It's the nature of free roam, but like I said in this video, I wasn't bothered once in the six hours I spent in the Devil's Roar. 👍
With ashen vaults now possible as captains voyages, I absolutely stack ashen vaults and rarely have trouble. As he says, very few people go to the devil's roar. I'm not saying it'll never happen, but so far I've only seen one other player in 6 stacking sessions and they were noobs that we sunk easily.
@@muphynman221 im not talking about people bothering you im talking about the volcanos going off sinking your boat while your looting the vault. its will happen

One of my biggest gripes when playing solo is just the artificial lengthening of time it takes to do things, like transferring treasure to the ship. The Captaincy update and Sovereigns at outposts has helped this a lot but there is more that can be done!
@@JonBardcore absolutely, much better than what it was but still a huge amount of time is taken getting it on the ship and then off again when solo. It’s during these times when you can’t have your eyes on the seas and some of the time get caught out by other crews.
