The reason you typically need to add a "Month Order" column (especially in tools like Power BI) to sort months in a slicer is that, by default, a month name column (e.g., "January," "February," etc.) is treated as text. Text columns are sorted alphabetically (i.e., April, August, December, etc.) rather than in chronological order (January, February, March, etc.). Why Can’t We Simply Sort by Month Name? Alphabetical Sorting: Without a numeric value, month names are sorted alphabetically. So, the default sorting for a slicer or visual will be something like this: April, August, December, February, January, etc. No Natural Chronological Order: Since the month names are strings, there’s no inherent understanding in the system about their order in the calendar year (i.e., "January" comes before "February"). Solution: Adding a "Month Order" Column To correctly sort month names in chronological order, you need to add a "Month Order" column with corresponding numeric values (e.g., 1 for January, 2 for February, etc.). Thanks for the message. Report should be always with limited colors. Shades gives you good readability and neatness. Measures are generic functions, which can be used for other visuals. Its always good practice to write measures for key numbers. Background was optional. we have kept for good design.

Hi, In line chart TotalRevenue and QoQ growth by Qtr , i am unable to draw the same graph which shown in this video. In X-axis taken Qtr and Y-axis Total revenue, in this case graph should show sum of all years qtr revenue, how it shows without showing year value. I am getting sum of all.

I followed same steps for QoQ growth percentage, I eve got the same results in table. Bu as soon as I plot in line chart, it is giving sum total of each year's quarter in chart (eg: for 1st qtr of all year the sum is 30635916.50) So it is showing this value in chart.Also it is adding up the percentage and showing infinity in chart... where did I make mistake...?

Why cant we simply sort month slicer by MONTH (giving the same result) instead of adding MONTH ORDER column?

the purpose of creating measure is to make sure, it can be re-usable for other functionality
