In Finland fines are based on a proportion of the persons income - but the percentage is the same for everyone. But I have never heard of a country that gives longer jail sentances because a person is wealthy or powerful.

Most appeals are denied and they can take
1-2 years (or longer) to be heard. By that time, the L.A. trial will be over and that sentence will also be in play. So Weinstein will be appealing for years to come. Whatever monies he still has will go to pay his legal fees.
