Hey everyone. Just a quick message. While I know a lot of you enjoy the recreations of O'Donnell and Campbell's legendary work for TTTE. I'd also really appreciate if you'd take a look at music I've written too. I'm looking to experiment and expand as a composer to test my range and ideas, the Thomas stuff is nostalgic and everything but the original works is what I really enjoy to work with. Still on the 80s wave at the moment as there are some sounds I still want to tackle. Here’s a playlist of all the 80s and 90s stuff. I’ve arranged them similar to how they are on SoundCloud. Enjoy! ruclips.net/p/PLMtRClgemu18WeuhMuxWRmeKj3NlT3-FP
No way! You actually did Murdoch's theme in S1/2 style. That's absolutely incredible. Just imagine Murdoch was sent to sodor on trial from British railways and he appeared boastful, arrogant, and prideful. Instead of that peace & quiet personality. Nothing ever beats the classic series with creative ideas. This was beautifully done. 🧘♂️🧘♂️🎶🎶🕊️🕊️
That's pretty much how Victor Tanzig characterized Murdoch in his series. I imagine that's how Murdoch would have been in the RWS, since the 9Fs were the apex freight engines of BR. His "peace & quiet" personality could have developed after he got a chance to stay on Sodor and mellowed out over time.
@@Douglas57647 Oh, hello Douglas. I watched Victor's series as well it's so interesting and well-thought-out with stories. Thank you for informing me on the information. 👍👍
Nothing ever beats the classic series with creative ideas, so I'd imagine that if this big engine appeared in seasons 1 and 2, he'd be mean and spiteful instead of the personality he's already been given - truely the most creative idea known to man! (wait what do ya MEAN gordon james henry bce spencer and many others exist already no way!!!) i'm here for the memes, i'm being /j not /srs!!!!!
Well this was something I wasn't expecting. And to think that I've been a Murdoch mood as of recent. I love it when people create his theme to fit the season 7 aesthetic there's something about this that's way more catchy and dare I say bouncy. After this one I definitely want to hear Arthur's Theme in this type of tune fabulous work Ty!
You know, if Murdoch had been a Railway Series character introduced in Season 2, and this had been his theme, it wouldn't sound out of place at all! Still as grand and powerful as ever, perfectly fitting for the mighty 9F. Murdoch is probably my favorite of the new characters from the S6-7 era, it's a shame he didn't get many appearances.
I even figured out where to put his debut book Between Gordon The Big Engine(1953) and Four Little Engines (1955) His basis (British Railways 9F) were first rolled out in January 1954
I enjoy Murdoch's theme, and this remix is a really great piece to do. I miss his theme and it's one we rarely got to hear. Well done on this brilliant theme 😀.
Amen. With assistance from the main man Mike O'Donnell himself though. Mike has said if the show was to ever return to former glory he'd be more then honoured to return as the o.g. composer if asked.
@@cinnamonmantrainsareawesom7224 Defiantly!. Although in my opinion i feel for a big Thomas & Friends blockbuster outing like Forster's film is gonna be... Rupert Gregson Williams is actually the perfect choice to do the score. Just listen to his work for Postman Pat: The Movie, Aquaman, Bee Movie, Garfield & Bedtime Stories. He defiantly captures that family friendly yet grand cinematic scale feel that Mike & Junior's original work is known for.
This is a magnificent piece. I almost think of Evening Star on a railtour run when I hear this from the quick pace. Murdoch does deserve a good theme such as this.
Fun fact, Robert Hartshorne's score for _Peace and Quiet_ actually starts with a remix of both of their themes. Of course it's the themes that Hartshorne gave to them, not the originals by Mike & Junior.
This holds the grand tone of the orignal theme while still retaining everything that made Season 2 my favorite, instrumentally and compositionally. Fantastic work S.A!!
Murdoch was one of those characters that had potential but it was all wasted due to merchandise, this theme makes me happy seeing that many fans go out of there way to support a character that is not that known about to the general public
You couldn’t have timed uploading this more perfectly! Yesterday I was thinking about my new Redcliff Railway Tales character Otmar, and how personality wise, he’s basically a hybrid Murdoch and Duck. I’ve been imagining his theme being a hybrid of Murdoch’s theme, and Duck’s Season 2 theme. But you know what? This is good enough! I’m definitely using this theme in Otmar’s episodes! Thank you so much!
I prefer this to his actual theme. His official theme catches the more quiet side of his character, which is more appropriate but the S1/2 synth style (especially with how you composed it) perfectly captures Murdoch's might and the might of a (steam) locomotive in general. You can put this rendition to footage or images of any long, heavy train and it will fit like a glove. It just reeks of pure mechanical POWER.
George Carlin: One night, Percy and Thomas were alone with Murdoch. Although Mr. Percival was beginning to think well of them. Whenever a chance came the other engines would talk of nothing but bootlaces. Percy: Remember when they had to use a bootlace to get you out of trouble Murdoch? George Carlin: They would tease. Murdoch tried to get back by talking about Percy who got shut up in a tunnel and Thomas who got stuck on a hill. But they wouldn't listen. Thomas: You talk too much Murdoch. George Carlin: Said Thomas. Thomas: A fine Tank engine like me has something to talk about. I'm the only engine who can pull the express. When I'm not there, they need two engines. Think of that. I've pulled expresses for years, and have never once lost my way. I seem to know the right line by instinct. George Carlin: Every wise engine knows that the signalman sets the switches to make the engines run on the right tracks. But Thomas was so proud he had forgotten. Thomas: Wake up, Murdoch. George Carlin: Said Thomas next morning. Thomas: It's time for the express. What are you doing? Odd Jobs? Ah well. We all have to begin somewhere, don't we? Run along and get my coaches. Don't be late. George Carlin: Murdoch went to get Thomas' coaches. They were all shining with new paint. He was careful not to bump them and they followed him smoothly into the station, singing happily... Coaches: We're going away, we're going away. Murdoch: I wish I were going with you. George Carlin: Said Murdoch. Murdoch: I should love to pull the express and go flying above the line! George Carlin: Thomas with much noise and blowing off steam, got ready to back on to the train. Mr. Percival was on the train with other important people and as soon as they heard the conductor's whistle, Thomas started. Thomas: Look at me now! Look at me now! George Carlin: He puffed and the coaches glided after him. Thomas: Beep beep beep beep beep! Goodbye, Murdoch, see you tomorrow! George Carlin: Murdoch watched the train disappear and then went back to work. He pushed some freight cars into their proper sidings and went to fetch the coaches for another train. Murdoch had just brought the coaches into the platform when he heard a mournful noise. There was Thomas trying to sneak into the station without being noticed. Murdoch: Hello Thomas. Is it tomorrow? George Carlin: Thomas didn't answer. He just let off steam feebly. Murdoch: Did you lose your way, Thomas? Thomas: No, it was lost for me. I was switched off the main line onto the loop. I have to go all around and back again. Murdoch: Perhaps it was instinct. George Carlin: Said Murdoch. All the passengers were shouting at the ticket window. Passengers: We want our money back! George Carlin: Mr. Percival climbed onto a cart and blew the conductor's whistle so loudly that they all stopped to look at him. Then he promised a new train at once. Mr. Percival: Thomas can't do it. Will you pull it for us, Murdoch? Murdoch: Yes sir, I'll try. George Carlin: So Murdoch was coupled on, and everyone got in. Mr. Percival: Do your best, Murdoch. George Carlin: Said Mr. Percival. Murdoch: Come along, come along! George Carlin: Said Murdoch. Coaches: You're pulling us well, you're pulling us well! George Carlin: Sang the coaches. Murdoch: Hurry, hurry, hurry! George Carlin: Puffed Murdoch. Bridges and stations flashed by, the passengers cheered and they soon reached the station. Everyone said thank you to Murdoch and Mr. Percival was very impressed. Mr. Percival: Well done. Would you like to pull the express sometimes? Murdoch: Yes please. George Carlin: Answered Murdoch. Next day when Murdoch came by, Thomas was pushing freight cars. Thomas: I like some quiet work for a change. George Carlin: He said. Thomas: I'm teaching these cars manners. You did well with those coaches I hear. Good, we'll show them. George Carlin: And he gave his cars a bump. Murdoch and Thomas are now good friends. Murdoch sometimes takes the express to give Thomas a rest. Thomas never talks about bootlaces, and they are both quite agreed on the subject of freight cars.
This is fantastic! I love Murdochs theme! Very powerful and triumphant which, is probably capturing his 9F status.
