I got an award in music composition in music class in high school for notating & transcribing by ear the Quiet Version from TDTWWA single. =) Didn't find out till a week later when the vice principal asked "why werent you at the award ceremony" lol.
Dear ixi, thank you so much for this wonderful performance, capturing the feeling of beautiful grief that Trent put into this masterpiece composition. You handled the whole thing with perfect sensitivity. I've shed many a tear to your videos, and today was no exception. I opened this video up this morning going 'I'm not gonna cry I'm not gonna cry' and bang when those gentle high notes open up in the second half... I'm a total mess. Then double that mess when the final 'nah nah nah' melody swells to the ending crescendo... A painful joy of waterworks😂 ...It's been a hard week too, so I guess I needed this sort of release, and I hope others here benefit from that too. Still remains, after all these years, my favourite NIN album. It's the darkest heart of Trent's journey, the most emotionally potent expression, like his downward spiral only seemed to worsen through The Fragile years to reach this hauntingly beautiful and terrifying place. With Teeth is the struggle out of that dark chapter, so it too also has a special place in my heart. Thank you for all your videos and the TDS reimagined album as well. I hope I speak for many others when I say we are really looking forward to your own album of ixi originals one day. 🥲

She is one of the few people I know of that seems talented, creative, and knowledgeable enough where, if she releases new music in the same vain as Trent (or any of the music she analyzes), I trust it will be amazing. Always loved this version, which sorta comes from the (Quiet) mix of TDTWWA off the TDTWWA single. The way the piano lead notes play over the progression just has a off-kilter feel.. sorta creeping up the scale... sorta dreamy, sorta peculiar but inviting. Soft and emotional but like a powerful anthem of sorts too. TDTWWA is sort of like a peaceful acceptance of being in a dark place or something. Good stuff.
Trent reznors music is so incredible hearing it here stripped back but with all its power. Compare this to a classical composer where there melodies are complex but often inane. This is classical music

Trent should drag the ixi pixie spider out to play a live show. She can do it even if her heart is about to explode the whole time, lol. I never really was nervous playing on stages but max crowd was probably not never more than a 1000 people. Almost opened up for Clutch on a tour, was being planned back in 96 or 97 but there was a tiny disagreement that took place between Flanigan, clutch's manager and our guitarist because Clutch was contemplating adding a guitarist and Flanigan wanted the spot but Sean Kelly, my guitarist, jammed a few songs with them before a show (we were going around meeting up with them on tour when they opened for Pantera.) anyway, Sean thought Flanigan was going to screw us over because he can get paranoid sometimes (or he was right?) and do he proceeded to rip him a new asshole and that was the end of a tour that never started. That was one of those forks in yhe road that would change the life path in major ways for sure. No way of knowing if it would have been for the better or worse. Life has its way of drawing out suffering and loss no matter what...
Note: They were both irish. Volatility waiting to happen, lol. I dont fix typos sometimes, my iq is too high for taking the time to bother, ive got other things to waste my time with, like animating my own cartoon series, which includes making the music for it. The next episode guest appears Joe Rogan. think he will care??
