The slow pace of Otalia allows me to savor this beautiful love story. Although it's frustrating at times, l know I must adjust my expectations in order to "play the soap opera game." Soap opera stories are designed to both string us along and give us lots of ups & downs. Plus, what's a week of our time may actually be only two or three days in the characters' lives, so it seems longer to us. BTW, this ep rocked! Today Liv & Nat both learned something critical relationship-wise.
"I'll come back but you'e gonna have to invite me" Ooo.... I like Liv playing hard to get and making Nat work for it! Liv's been doing the chasing the last few episodes now it's Nats turn.
It just occured to me that the end scene when Nat wants Liv to go in for coffee, is almost a mirror scene to the end of "date night" when Liv wanted Nat to go in for lattees. They've both come a long way already in such a short time.
Wow...once again floored watching the same scene almost 24hrs. I swear since I became an Otalia addict I need 27 hrs a day! I mean seriously the lighting, emotion filled music, s/l, scenery, the eyes, the love, the dimples, the love, the lips, the love, the desire, the love. It's beauty personified. How do they leave my heart aching so many times? How do they leave me yearning for a kiss that only my heart will feel? Why do I need Otalia so much? Dear God I'm in love. Am I a cheater?
A relationship without hidden agendas, a need to prove something, a way to escape from.... This truly is the most beautiful love story I have ever seen (outside of fairy tales).
I too like it when Nat says "i'll call you in like 5mn" and Liv says "I know" because it let's us know they have a relationship going on that we don't see. They are in touch w/eachother all day, and all night. Liv got a little nervous after Rafe came, because she wasn't getting her daily dose. I also loved it when she says "you are so worth waiting for "because the look in Liv's eye was like Nat was a deep dark decadent whip creamed dessert. Damn!
This is one of my favourite episode. Olivia's eyes are magnificent. When she looks at Natalia you can feel the sexual tension in her body language. Even Natalia looks like she wants to love Olivia right there.

I got it going again and rewatched the scene.

Honestly, not since Luke and Laura (the first time) have I ever been this involved in a storyline on a soap opera. Looking back at old clips of CC when she first started on GL and working my way forward, the woman is amazing. Great actress, she exudes sensuality, sexuality, intelligence, humor, and passion. Who wouldn't love that!

When I watched the scene with Father Ray last night I couldn't really concentrate on what they were saying because I was too distracted by the lady in the background stacking that huge pile of Charmin', lol!
You can really see how much Olivia has grown... she is being more patient than she's ever been and she is showing more respect for what is best for other people... I never thought I'd see it. Usually she goes for whatever she wants and damn the consequences. Since her heart problems and falling in love with Natalia she's become a better person. The writers have done a great job with her character this year.
the last scene was the best ever!!! Liv is decided to give Nat some space and now the ball is on her court...I just LOVE how desperate Nat looked when Liv said she was leaving and begged her to come in and have coffee... Not accepting the invitation showed a lot of will power from Liv...cause I wouldn't resist those dimples... I so wanna see Nat begging Liv to come back....
I gotta tell you I love this scene with Phillip and Olivia.. the emotion and pain they are both feeling is so clear. It's a tender moment between them which is odd but ironic because although she tried to avoid him,w/ that "oh no of all people" dance... he ended up actually helping her out. I liked this epidode, Im glad Olivia said something about space in their relationship. Natalia behavior has been "wishy washy", but its understandable because of Rafe. Natalia has to realize that her son is her main priority but she has an "almost girlfiend" in Olivia that needs to be reassured about her loyalty to the relationship.
Ok, so I've had no sleep for the past 36 hours. And I think I'm mostly caught up. Damn, these two are just so addictive! Olivia was so hot in that last scene, I think I would have swooned, haha!

This is so assuring and reality checked. Its so hard to be patient with a ball of love growing but yet the couple hasnt been together long enough to feel the security of love from the other. Insecurities and galores of crazy emotions break people at this point. It takes just time and belief in your heart that u goin no where despite the craxyness...i lost someone at this stage and it makes me wonder the "what if" game 3 years later.
It's good that Liv is making Nat come after her now. Hopefully Nat will be the one to start the first kiss it would be a good change for her character. And when Nat says she'll call liv in five minutes and Liv says I know in that confident, little voice it just killed me.
Y'all, you know what's missing? The fantasy scenes. They happen all the time on Soaps. Even if we didn't get a "real-life" kiss, wouldn't there usually be a "fantasy" kiss? They're playing backgammon & the winner gets a shot of tequila & the loser has to share a fantasy (a la CotM): Waltzing in the gazebo-of-love. Or walking down the aisle & it's Olivia waiting at the front in a cute, white, three-piece tux. Coming home to the FoL & Natalia only in an apron holding a tuna noodle casserole.
Olivia has so passed Natalia 101 and has gone onto the master class! Olivia did the perfect thing by giving Nat space, and I loved how Liv realized it with Phillip. Hearing the line, "that as a parent, when things aren't going right (with your kid) that is all you can think about." Liv got that it was Nat not loving her enough, it was just about Nat being a Mom. Nat so wants Liv too, she's just way more patient than Liv, but finally Liv has the same faith in Nat that Nat has in her.
On a different note, I was catching up on even older Otalia scenes (for some reason I thought their main interaction had started w/heart transplant in March 2008) but was I so wrong!! They had amazing scenes way before especially in Jan 2008. It's kinda strange that they've 'toned' down Nat's kinda 'stubborn feistyness' which is what made them 'banter gold'. Back from "the 2 mommies kiss" til now, you see a clear progression from 2 women who were attracted,confused, and in denial grow to 2 women whose desires are palpable w/o touching. They say they don't know what "this is" not the lesbian part, they have never "felt this type of connection, trust or desire w/another person"

Annmarsav1984, Xena, and Beauty & the Beast with Linda Hamilton. These were two other shows where we kept expecting them to kiss/consummate. Beauty & the Beast finally had their kiss in 2nd season, & the consummation was some kind of supernatural soul-meld. We NEVER got to see a real romantic kiss on Xena between X&G. The dream sequence in The Quest ended too soon, and Gab gave water to an asleep Xena in the last episode. So, 6 seasons of Xena with nothing. That's the longest one I know.
My take on Olivia not reaching out & touching Natalia: If she touches her face, her arm, her hand, any part of her body, she won't be able to stop at that. I think that Olivia knows Natalia is not ready for a kiss & she wants it to be at the right time. She's being sensitive to Nat & taking measures to make sure that everything is perfect & Nat is as ready as she is.

I love this story line. And i dont mind the pace in which it is going because 1. its a soap and though a primetime program may have a faster pace you see them once a week for awhile then nothing for months. 2.we see the girls at least twice a week every week except for Jls leave and then hopefully we can save the show for more weeks of Otalia.

Olivia did the perfect thing by giving Nat space, and I loved how Liv realized it with Phillip. Hearing the line, "that as a parent, when things aren't going right (with your kid) that is all you can think about."
Liv got that it was Nat not loving her enough, it was just about Nat being a Mom.
Nat so wants Liv too, she's just way more patient than Liv, but finally Liv has the same faith in Nat that Nat has in her.
On a different note, I was catching up on even older Otalia scenes (for some reason I thought their main interaction had started w/heart transplant in March 2008) but was I so wrong!! They had amazing scenes way before especially in Jan 2008. It's kinda strange that they've 'toned' down Nat's kinda 'stubborn feistyness' which is what made them 'banter gold'. They say they don't know what "this is" not the lesbian part, they have never "felt this type of connection, trust or desire w/another person"

Xena, and Beauty & the Beast with Linda Hamilton. These were two other shows where we kept expecting them to kiss/consummate. Beauty & the Beast finally had their kiss in 2nd season, & the consummation was some kind of supernatural soul-meld.
We NEVER got to see a real romantic kiss on Xena between X&G. The dream sequence in The Quest ended too soon, and Gab gave water to an asleep Xena in the last episode. So, 6 seasons of Xena with nothing. That's the longest one I know.
My take on Olivia not reaching out & touching Natalia:
If she touches her face, her arm, her hand, any part of her body, she won't be able to stop at that. I think that Olivia knows Natalia is not ready for a kiss & she wants it to be at the right time. She's being sensitive to Nat & taking measures to make sure that everything is perfect & Nat is as ready as she is.
Ha! I was just listening to that song the other day, but it now reminds me of that Green Day song. I guess it should be the other way around.

I don't think there has been a lesbian love story with this kind of history it's so beautiful to see.and is not about the sex,but about the passion between 2 beautiful women.
I love this story line. And i dont mind the pace in which it is going because 1. its a soap and though a primetime program may have a faster pace you see them once a week for awhile then nothing for months. 2.we see the girls at least twice a week every week except for Jls leave and then hopefully we can save the show for more weeks of Otalia.

En plus vu le soin qu'ils mettent à construire et développer ce couple il est forcement destiné à durer (quoi que si la serie est vraiment annulée ça sera difficile). Je pense qu'ils prennent aussi beaucoup de pincettes vis à vis du public pour ne pas le choquer avec cette histoire. En tt cas j'ai jamais été aussi accro à un soap, j'me reconnais pas!

IMO, Olivia said "right" because if she keeps looking into Natalia's eyes like that, she would lose her resolve to give her space.
Favauntie, too right! That would certainly point out the purple elephant in the room. Natalia was ready to break through her walls but Olivia was still coming to terms with her feelings...Olivia, who normally has no physical boundaries still couldn't allow herself to be loved for who she is inside. Because for Nat it's not about Olivia's body the same way it was for most of the Spaulding/Lewis/Cooper men.
What do you think is holding Nat back now? Rafe? Frank? Olivia's reputation? Church?
Fr. Ray's comments to Natalia would only serve to make her love for Olivia grow stronger.
