My friend fell asleep while driving and ended up hitting the ditch and his car rolled and he got throw from his truck. He broke the seat belt. It shattered his pelvis. He needed surgery. When they got him to the hospital, before he passed out, he told the medics he refuses blood. Since he refused blood they hooked him up to this machine that helped with the blood flow. He died a week later cause the machine clotted. At his memorial the Elders praised him for "standing by Jehovah till the very end"

It aggravates me that they’re talking about autistics like that.
I’m autistic. I’m not defective. I simply communicate differently than allistic people. I communicate just fine with other autistics.
That they want their child to be “normal” is absolutely ridiculous. They can’t accept him for who he is? They’re waiting for the paradise to meet a son who isn’t their son because he isn’t the same.
I’m glad that they understand how to work with him in his situation, though. To give him the consistency that he needs and the safety that helps him in every day life.

    • @panickedshears
      @panickedshears 7 месяцев назад

They can’t accept him because of how brainwashed they are. They seem like nice enough people, and like they love their son, but at some point someone told them a lie and they believed it.
Yes, raising someone with severe autism can be draining. Especially if they need round the clock care or special accommodations regarding education and other such things. And that’s probably part of the reason why they fell for this shit so hard.
That’s why cults like JW are so harmful. They prey on people’s emotions, their feelings, their insecurities. They get them when they’re vulnerable and spread too thin and sell them some fantastical belief.

As an ex-Catholic I’ve heard that argument being used against those who left that religion as well (as well as those who have left many other denominations).
While I was devout in college one time I got into an argument with a Baptist missionary on which one of us was going to hell and it’s one of the most absurd moments in my life because none of it would’ve mattered anyways if some other religion like Islam was the One True Faith as both of us would’ve been damned anyways no matter how devout we were in our respective religions. That’s also the main reason why that argument falls apart for me, while I’ve had moments of self-gaslighting I’ve exposed myself to other religions that I never bothered to learn about and reading the Qu’ran’s many threats against unbelievers with hellfire has greatly lessened those fears (the Book of Mormon has also some of those same threats but not as much if I remember correctly).
As I’ve heard others say by the logic of this wager we should all convert to Islam since it has the most explicit descriptions of the punishments we might get, and yet the entire time when I was Catholic and Christian I never took those threats seriously.

@monus782 tbh, Protestants hating Catholics is expected even though it's something stupid. Its a historical thing especially in America and I'm tired of it. Hell, there's JWs that hate Catholicism and one got mad when I said that I'm interested in it.. I am currently seeking Orthodox Christianity, and I'll admit that denominations doing all this infighting distracts others from Christ. My fear was that Orthodox Christians would face this hatred from other Christians as they are generally a small portion of the population and their Christianity is foreign compared to Protestantism. They already nailed down the essentials of Christianity anyways. JWs though aren't Christian

I have autism. It makes me angry that these pricks put so much pressure on you to be a "good JW" whether you have special needs or not. I can't tell you how messed up I am from being pressured to participate in the preaching work and to do talks etc when life was hard enough as it was.
It was hard enough standing out because of my autism at school without being pressured to stand up and walk out in front of everyone every time the school sang Christmas songs etc.
I'm angry about that example being put in this broadcast. Every broadcast is more pressure put on those who can relate to whatever is being depicted. Great. 😑
I also want to add that my parents used to tell me all of the time that I will be different in the new world. It wasn't upsetting because it isn't true, it's upsetting that I wasn't enough the way I was and they were looking forward to a time when I would be different.

The Bible says at 1 John 4:1 “Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world” NWT no less. So it is a clear indication and recommendation from Christ to question everything. so for WT to say questioning the governing body is a disfellowshipping offense then they are going against scripture. They have no proof they are the “TRUTH” besides claiming they are. So why shouldn’t I question them? The chapter continues to talk about Christ coming in the flesh and we know JW’s say he came back as a spirit. Again going against scripture. Mind you this is literally the first two verses in the same chapter of the same book of the Bible that they completely distorted and twisted to match their doctrine. There are numerous amounts of errors the WT makes that easily debated and debunked just by reading the Bible from their own translation no less. They are a cult and hypocrites and will have to answer to Christ when he returns.

25:10 Okay, THIS pisses me off. The cult is NOT kind to disabled people and mental health trouble at all - they look down on seeking help for mental health issues outside the cult despite how needed those resources are but they'll happily tout us for their image.
Not to mention, the meetings are some of the most understimulating garbage imaginable. Even the most boring teachers I had as a kid were more engaging than the talks I'd endured as a JW. As an autistic kid prone to understimulation? I was a frequent visitor of the nursing mother's room to be spanked for getting fussy.
I'd have been able to handle meetings so much better had I been allowed to hold something like a small toy, but no, god forbid a child have a reasonable accommodation in 'Jehovah's house'. They should be forced to get bored, irritable, understimulated, and fussy then subsequently punished for being an upset child in an environment that isn't accommodating to kids.

It's so weird how I was brought up catholic, and yet the whole time, whether in church or school, my mind was like Homer Simpson. Completely indifferent to everything. Never stopped to really think about God and what I believe til I was about 18, read some of the bible and was like, absolutely not! I was just on autopilot until I was about 12 and started to care about music, and then the rest of my brain slowly went online as I grew up.

I use to be a regular pioneer and serve where the need is great with my family. I wasted my life away, especially struggling with being a closeted queer trans kid. Ive made friends since i left 3 years ago, im out, and im so happy. Ive never felt so happy. When i left, i thought i was going to be unhappy bc thats what i was tought. I'm autistic and I understand how hard it must be for parents having a child with high-needs and who would maybe never be independant and can't even communicate. Really, that must be so exhausting. But what doesn't help a bit is institutions full of neurotypical people who doesn't even really understand what being autistic means and feed these parents with bullshit instead of helping them with their child. No it's not a dicease, it can be "attenuated" but absolutely not cured. And breaking news, an autistic child having some sort of crisis is because they're not treated correctly so they're overwhelmed (because once again people are so obsessed with being "normal" that they don't listen to the actual needs of autistic people). And now we also have religions/cults appealing to desesperate parents with the hope that their child is like a blessing because "wow they're so different so unique" and would be cured ? Plz, autism, Down syndrome and other disorders aren't like a virus that's occulting the "real" person behind it. It IS what the person is like. What it does is that it keeps people wishing for a person who won't ever exist and will never be the one in front of them. It's really depressing for both parts.

The witnesses in there are more level headed and not like the organization leaders so he had no idea these organization leaders were this crazy because he never watched many of the watchtower videos. He is slowly waking up and realizing why he's treated a bit indifferent from alot of the brothers in his congregation. Not al of them are nuts but some wanted to start drama so after returning for being inactive for a bit due to life he was approached by these idiots and scared him off to take another break. I would say he is slowly waking up and will soon not support the religion as he gets to see the watchtower leaders for who they really are, just as crazy as these asshole brothers.

I left thanks to Jesus , the ExJW community, the elders for being so cruel, the Australian Royal Commission and learning about narcissism. I'm living the most fulfilled life ever. I recommend learning about the terms high support needs and low support needs. It's a bad idea to blanket say that autistic people can't make such a complex decision. It depends on the person. The bigger issue I see is that neurodivergent children of JWs are already in a situation where inability to conform is heavily punished, and they are kept away from people who could intervene.
The issue with saying that autistic people automatically can't make decisions for themselves is that it adds to the culture of conservatorship. For instance, transphobic people argue that trans people are autistic, and that autistic people can't understand their own genders or sexuality.
