Eric Stein on the acquisition of Borreraig and the Husabost Estate on Skye

The MacCrimmon Cairn to the dynasty of hereditary pipers to the Clan MacLeod on Skye and the 2,500-acre Husabost Estate is up for sale on the Isle of Skye. Eric Stein of Florida talks with pipes|drums about his hope to put together a consortium of pipers and piping enthusiasts to acquire it.

Currently on a 29th June closing at S&P. Community land projects have been a strong theme in Highland land ownership in recent decades. However, the diaspora and related music community are not the target benefactors for that idea. Whatever SME join this project have to realise the reality that Highland estate ownership carries with it a range of unique legal responsibilities and a range of powers and influences over the lives of those in local communities. If handled wisely, I think this could turn into something truly great. Good luck.
