Honestly, you can't entirely blame Ayano for her...obsession. She finally felt that emotion she'd been waiting her whole life to feel, and she couldn't let it go.
She KILLED a living being to feel any emotions, but it didn't work. Then she found senpai, and felt something at last. There's no way she'd give him up after he gave her what she wanted her entire life

After hearing the basement tapes, it now makes a LOT more sense on why Ayano’s dad was extremely persistent on helping her. He wants to break the cycle of kidnappings.
There’s something so hopelessly sad about the way that Jokichi tried to teach Ayano empathy which failed, because he didn’t want her to turn out like her mother

I have ASPD and I’m not emotionless per say but people tell me my eyes are vacant and I tend to be somewhat bland, without personality. I feel love like a predator would, I see love as an addictive substance without feeling empathy for the dealer. I’ve long since given up on love since I find it to be a bother but I’m certain my love as a teenage girl could have gone this far. Not as a yandere but as one selfish and heartless desiring an object she fancies. If Yan-chan was real, she’d probably be just like me, perhaps comorbid with OLD (obsessive love disorder) or BPD.

Okay but am I the only one who feels so much and so bad for her father? Like my heart always hurts when the part gets to him and about how much he did for her.
It hurts worse when you read the wiki page and realize ayano thinks of her dad as a pet and would "put him down" if he ever hurt a family member like the mom or other.
She went from being a super annoying stalker/serial killer to a legit tragic character who craves love and attention since she literally can't feel it. If the only person who could bring me joy was constantly surrounded by other people my gender then I'd get pretty jealous and pissed too

In fact, the one who is pretending to be normal the most is Jokichi, Ayano's father, who was actually forced by Ryoba to stay with her (in 1980s lore, before the trial, Ryoba considered to confess her love to him, but after the trial, and after her face was seen in all newspapers, she became too ashamed to confess her love to him, so she kidnapped him and forced him to stay in that house and after, to build a family). So from this we can understand that wasn't happy at all to be in that family, and also he desperately tried to make Ayano happy, because he didn't want her to be like her mother, and to hurt someone else like her mother did to him.

In reality, I think she actually WAS in love with senpai. But over time, I guess the "love" she had for him turned into an obsession. But it wasn't senpai, it was the emotion. The feeling of the adrenaline of going out of her way to protect someone whom she loved, she loved that feeling so much it's what made her feel "whole" inside. And now, seeing the 1980's mode, i can see why Ryoba considered in "normal," and didn't really try to help Ayano. And Ayano's father KNEW that her traits were passed down from her mother, but didn't want to say anything.

Now that the 1980s mode came out I understand why the dad seems so desperate to treat his daughter. He KNOWS what his wife is. Hes afraid of his own child following her footsteps. Hes stressed cause he doesn't know how or when she will continue the cycle.

3:49 this is what I don’t get. Around the time stamp I put, you see Ayano with Midori and Kuu-dere playing. You also see Ayano with Midori(assuming because of the hair, and the fact that you see her later) around 3:33. Like, they are friends right? So, why at the start of the game (when you actually play it) Ayano has no friends. (I know the game is far from finished, but it’s just a question)
Guys, I think the reason her Dad wanted a 'Normal' child is because there is an ending in 1980's where Ryoba kidnapped her father and was only forced to be with her. It all makes sense now

@@tell4959 I think he just gave up and let her do it, because his future wife kidnapped him when he was a teen (17) and holded him in the basement for a hell of a time with a lot of psychological abuse and threats. And they had a child when he was 43 years old (which means he was under her constant watch over 26 years) - without any chance to escape (people will be killed, he will be hurt badly, going to first step of their "relationships" and police won't believe him because of the lack of evidences), probably constantly getting other people in lethal kind of troubles, since his wife is extremely envious and dangerous throughout all of his lifetime. Which makes his life a living hell - his future was taken away from such an early age, making him a victim for life sentence.
Personally, after I played this new mode as Ryoba, I actually felt sorry for her senpai, because, unlike Taro, his feelings and emotions were understandable, but, unfortunately, his case was taken far further from the student life, life was tragically ruined permanently and forever. And seeing how he desperately tries to save his daughter and her possible love interest from this horrible fate is heartbreaking. This made me feel sorry for senpai - unbelievable result for yandere simulator.

okay, but I love ayano's childhood. not bc of it's sad, depressing theme, but bc of the idea of her having one. it gives us clarifications, and knowledge of how she came to be rather than just a character you toss on. I love that we get a sort of depth. it makes us sympathize with her, and yet, then we're confused with this murder game to choose which side. sympathy and hate and control. the concept of this game and far it's going, is ridiculously amazing. happy to share my thoughts, keep doing what you're doing!

I agree completely with that, but honestly, this only raises more questions about her mom; I'm pretty sure the yandere in the first set of tapes [previously scattered around the school] is the mom, so that being said, I am curious about what went on that time between when the reporter left the town to avoid being murdered and when he returned to attempt to get revenge. Although this answers the question between whether the reporter was info chan's or yandere-chan's father, considering the reporter wasn't around during her child hood, he is info-chan's.
But this only makes me wonder, does info-chan know anything about yandere-chan's mother? and will that cause info-chan to become an actual enemy and not someone who is vying for senpai's heart?

I think she genuinely was in love with Taro at first, but after experiencing that feeling of love, it started turning into an obsession. Not an obsession for Taro, but an obsession with the emotion that she felt.

Explains why I would pick Ryoba 10/10 over Ayano and why I always called Ayano the inferior Aishi in comparison.
