Only a master like you can make It look so easy, but we all know it isn't. Days like this don't come round that often, Even for the best like yourself.
I started matching fisihng only a few weeks ago u stated on float and got taught by my dad and mates I soon mastered that but as most of mates also ledger fish for carp I started that as well so now I'll ledger fish most of the time with you my mates and there parents as there's a age limit you have to be to stay the night alone I'll occasionly float fish and match fishing every Thursday in the junior matches
Aidan Wiles see if your dad will allow you to fish the adult matches, a lot stiffer competition but you’ll gain a lot more knowledge and tips. Try pole fishing, it can be a lot more accurate and very enjoyable 👍
I’m 15 regularly fish in matches of a Sunday with my club full of adults I place mid table which I think is respectable for my age as I do fish against fully grown men I have a match tomorrow and might try fishing short top 3-4 hoping I can win, thanks for the tips🎣🎣
I remember winning my first match at 16 it was a rover you had to pick your own swim then I mostly moved on to specimen fishing still got my trophy that was in 1970 your never to young lol.
@@keithdainton6043 cheers pal, 17 now, one my first match 2 years ago, was an open canal match at hill view lakes in Tewksbury, 217lbs, my record weight, since then I’ve came 2nd and 3rd a few times, still improving, excited for this years season, starts april👍🏼👍🏼
Great vid Mick, what elastic are you using here, surprised how you get them in so quick, I fish a water with snags, lily pads etc so have to fish a heavy elastic 16 to 18 solid, any advice appreciated. TIA
Hi Mick, Can you tell Me please, is the pellet band on a hair or straight on the hook ? You make it look so easy, an the netting of the fish. regards Paul.
Thank you very much for your reply. I have just tied up ten hooks with the band just off the bend of the hook to try. Tied the band on a loop as Paul Holland showed.
doesn't work like that on our ponds with light gear as the carp go off like trains and straight into any snag they can find especially close in lillies
wizardwithguns1 if your using barbless ( as it’s the rules for most clubs now ) you need to make sure you have good tension. And when they run use your judgement. If it’s a big fish really going some, letting out some elastic is a good idea. But putting the tip of your pole with all the elastic, facing the opposite way the fish is running helps aswell. It will turn the fish around
James Tiberious thanks, I went fishing again last night, I have sorted the hook end of things, but I find the fish run and snap me off with 0.15 line. The elastic I have is middy f1/ small carp.
4 questions buddy What are the waters like? Shallow? Are you using a hook length? What size hook are you using? Do you have spare sections you can use, so when the have there initial run you can use them to follow the fish out? Iv landed double figure fish with .15mm. Where on the line is it snapping, is it right where you tied your hook Many thanks and I’ll do my best to help
I’m fishing shallow with a single length of 0.15, I have a Drennan dibber float, pellet on band size 16 hook. It’s a 5.5m carp whip/ pole by middy. The line has broken at the point where the elastic has joined the elastic and also near the hook. My knots are good but I am new to this type of fishing. Last night I was on the river, but I also fish lakes, always still waters though.
Have you tried a knot tyre? Or a double looped knot, are you using eyed hooks? If so look on RUclips at the knotless Knots. They are super strong and should hold everything 👍
If you visit our stockists page: www.frenzee.co.uk/stockists.html you will be able to find a local Frenzee stockist. If they do not have them in stock, they can order them for you.
We know that when a match is on you would not get as many fish this short, but this is not aimed at just Match Fisherman, but also at pleasure anglers. Thanks for your comment though :)

I love the comment that says he should be catching well he's the only one there! I bet mic didn't know that and is really glad you told him!!
Keep up the great works guys.
All the best,
Jimmy Willis
Because bait is always landing by accident right in front of your pallet it is good to sometimes fish the ‘Keep net line’ and catch some chunky carp.
Awesome video mick
It is so amazing when you know how close they come 👌😱😱😰
Many thanks guys
2:57 sneaky carp in the background
Tom Parker also down on the left margin

Mick is using the Frenzee Stretch Yellow Elastic: www.frenzee.co.uk/products/elastics/stretch-hollow-elastic.html
What thickness of elastic is used for fishing? Soft elastic does not say much.
Class
What bib and brace are you using. I need a set for the bigger man so to speak.
It is the Frenzee Bib n brace thank you
How many thousands of fish are in that lake .. (Or millions )
2:57 look at that carp behind him
Hi Mick, Can you tell Me please, is the pellet band on a hair or straight on the hook ?
You make it look so easy, an the netting of the fish. regards Paul.
Hi Paul, Mick uses his pellet on a banded hair rig.
Thank you very much for your reply. I have just tied up ten hooks with the band just off the bend of the hook to try. Tied the band on a loop as Paul Holland showed.
great video mick what rating is your elastic please
Mick sends his thanks :). He is using the Frenzee Stretch Yellow which has an 8-12 rating and is 2.1mm in diameter :)
2:56 fish to the left between the ducks and his shoulder xd
Guessing that's the frenzee 6e pole ???
Yes Simon, this is an old video with the 6E pole.
doesn't work like that on our ponds with light gear as the carp go off like trains and straight into any snag they can find especially close in lillies
be nice if you let us see the fish !!!!
I always lose carp on the pole, they slip the hook, what am I doing wrong? Also when they run do I just let the elastic go?

Hi Michael, the top kits are the new Frenzee Stubby Kits which are already white/light grey in colour.

If you visit our stockists page: www.frenzee.co.uk/stockists.html you will be able to find a local Frenzee stockist. If they do not have them in stock, they can order them for you.
What pellets were you using Mick please
Mick was using the standard Scretting Pellets that the Fishery sells.
Carp in keepnets is just wrong.
you should bag up .. you're the only one on the lake . different story when there's a match on .
We know that when a match is on you would not get as many fish this short, but this is not aimed at just Match Fisherman, but also at pleasure anglers. Thanks for your comment though :)
