The layout featured in that year I dreamed of making ,I think hammet&morgen controllers forgive spelling if wrong ,used it or it was built for them as it was featured in one of their adverts in RM , Merry Christmas Mark 🎅🏼😊
Hi, I remember this great catalogue back in the day, great content indeed, I still have a great collection of Zero 1 items in my collection and I also have this catalogue amongst my model railway literature along with many other Hornby catalogues, this was when Hornby ruled supreme in so many ways in my opinion, I have no words to describe them now! Thanks for sharing and happy Xmas & new year to you and your family.
Yes, they are still a main force in the hobby, but sure they're not the fond memory making company they used to be ! And hope you had a lovely Christmas and wishing you and yours and very Happy New Year 🙂🙂
I can remember this and the next year's catalogue, but then only came back to the hobby a few years ago, so about all the catalogues have been a great look through for me 🙂🙂
@@mangleytown I was delighted when the APT-P was retooled for 2020! It's a fantastic model! Their centenary year really was amazing, incredible and historic for model railway history! I Love the Rocket too, Hush Hush, BR 2MT, Class 91, HST DVT, MK3 DVT, MK4 DVT pitty the BR MK4s open coaches were incorrect (roof vents) endless to list! I'm hoping next year 2025 Hornby will reproduce a newly tooled AC Electric BR Class 81!
@ryanohara476 I had to get the APT-P , my wallet wasn't quite so happy ! Haven't even had chance to run it yet 😪 I'm just glad 2024 is a quieter year on HST's, haven't caught up on last year's yet ! Hoping for some actual new liveries next year
@@mangleytown Yes I'm looking forward to Rails Class 89 and Class 41 prototype HST Power cars. I have the 2022 APT-P 370 001 3700 02. I hope Hornby will produce the final APT-P sets 370 005 and 370 006, and 370 007 DTS in the Final BR APT-P livery, with black window surrounds and the final APT-P livery the typeface British Rail "Double Arrow" logo in black lining only with "InterCity" logo filled in black and "APT" filled in red with the red stripe along both of the DTS' as a full 14 car rake train. I'm hoping to see from Hornby's 2025 range, Virgin Trains HST 1996 livery, Great Western Railway Merlin 1996 livery, the Hornby HST livery from 1984-1987 the InterCity Executive livery without InterCity 125 filled in white, InterCity 125 Swollow livery with 8 coach rake and Class 254 BR Blue InterCity Eastern livery with eight MK3s, Era 1 Sans Pareil, Planet and Novelty. I hope they'll reconsider the L&BR Queen's Adelaide coach. RailRoad reintroduce Class 33, 142 Pacer. New tooled Class 124 and BR class 140 DMUs.
@@mangleytown Yes I love the APT-P! I have the new sets 370 001 370 002 in plain yellow fronts with the TU TF TS TRBS and addition NDM. I'm hoping the new tooled HSTs to come will be; Virgin Trains from 1996, Great Western Railway Merlin livery and the other in BR Intercity 254 Eastern Region with 8 MK3s and Intercity Swallow livery 8 MK3s. I'm looking for to Rails Accurascale Class 89 badger and Rails Class 41 HST prototype. I am also hoping Hornby will reconsider the L&BR Queen's Adelaide coach. In their 2025 range newly tooled Era 1 Sans Pareil, Novelty and Planet. BR Class 81 AC Electric, BR Class 140 Pacer, BR Class 124 DMUs. I found your channel last night while randomly looking at trains stuff on you tube. These catalogues have brought back so many memories.. I used to sit reading the catalogues dreaming of having a large layout in the loft which Mum and Dad were having none of! Really interesting to see these again.
@mangleytown ive just got back into it 30 odd years later with a layout in the spare room which im building. Ive always been into trains and am lucky to drive them for work but its great to get back into the hobby!
@ChrisJohnson-te3eg great news 🙂 was probably a similar gap for me, finally got back into it about 5 years ago 🙂 however after a move layout is stored in garage still awaiting me to make the room for it ! Fingers crossed this year 🙂

A good year really. Some decent locos in the range and the new buildings were widely available.

Although eleven years older than myself born 1991, I still think that arguably that 1980 was possibly one of Hornby's best catalogues ever published!
@ryanohara476 to my mind it's the start of their heyday 🙂👍
