      @@Dont_Poke_The_Bear actually thats not completely true, because of how they ended it is exactly why they might not have to do a recast, it could easily be worked in that some issue happened with the stasis or ship or whatever while it was traveling between the vast space between galaxies and because of said issue a time skip is very easily explained.

    Amazon's track record for adaptation and original programming is atrocious. There's only a few exceptions with one of my favorites being Clarkson's Farm. Anything that they have a hands-off approach towards seems to be their best strategy. Unfortunately, you just know that they are going to micromanage Stargate to hell and back with a million different cooks in the kitchen and it would more than likely be just another creatively bankrupt and artistically mangled mess. Stargate-SG1 was GREAT sci-fi show and everything Hollywood touched is mediocre at best; they never will produce anything close in terms of quality and worse, they will damage the original series: they shouldn't to allowed to approach Stargate-SG1. 🤞

    It would be nice if MGM would pick up and restart Stargate. An idea I had (as a partially-written fan fic) involved the SGC still being run but mostly a semi-public operation, Daniel & Vala have gotten married and the Tau'ri defense fleet releasing an "X-309" battle cruiser and jumping forward with the focus on Daniel & Vala's daughters.
    It would make more sense if taking an existing character (like Vala or Cam) and putting them into a leading/training role and potentially bringing in a younger team led by either Jack's clone or Cadet Haley to "replace" Jack or Carter, respectively, as it would both link with earlier seasons and provide a fresher command team.

  • @UpLateGeek
    @UpLateGeek Месяц назад +1

    My idea was that they could unify all three series, Universe, Atlantis, and SG-1, into a mega-series that wove threads through time and space between them. Obviously it would be super difficult to make, you'd need to get a substantial number of the original cast back, many of them aren't exactly the young action heroes they used to be, not to mention they're busy with other projects, but I think you could get enough to get started, maybe bring more in as they become available.
    It all starts with the end of Universe, Eli was destined for a long trip between galaxies, but something went wrong. Instead of taking a year or whatever, something went wrong and Eli had to slow the ship down, so the trip ended up taking 15 years! He tried to keep as many of the crew alive in stasis, but not all made it (accounting for the disappearance of some of the cast, but also the fact that Eli is now a total hunk - have you seen pictures of David Blue lately?), eventually they arrive, and now they're ready to begin their adventures anew in a brand new galaxy! SG-1 comes in where they figure out how to power a gate to send them supplies and a fresh batch of crew (possibly even using Atlantis), but they can't go back because there's no way to get enough power to the gate onboard the Destiny.
    I haven't figured out much else besides that though, but it could be a solid start.

PIC honestly is my least favorite but beyond S3 Rios is awesome as a character and watching Seven try and figure out how to drive in S2 was fabulous. I feel like if you want to attract a new audience it has to be about the actual Stargate which the various TV shows kind of left behind and a Teal'c series is a long way from that. I think you would have to do some kind of soft reboot where they brought back cast members in a kind mystery about the Stargate program being abandoned, then you would set up a new show to explore the history of the previous shows as well as the ability to expand on them and eventually you could do a Teal'c series.

    Enough time has passed that a Stargate series highlighting the next generation would be possible. The format for each episode would use the Danial Jackson instructional videos, along with short clips from the original series, to provide context for training the new characters that represent the next generation and what happens in that episode. This would limit the exposition required to instruct the new generation of viewers, while rewarding us original fans. In SG1, the gate was public knowledge on Earth. To reduce set costs, move SG Command (and training facility) off Earth. Plenty of opportunities for cameos of the original characters as instructors. We already had a taste of the training with Haley and the other new recruits. So, you have continuity with the canon, and an easy introduction of new characters.

    The problem with continuing Stargate from where it was or where it ought to be now after more than 15 years … is that we're straining the "now" a bit. You mean to tell me than 20 years after pilots were fighting aliens in orbit and longer than that since governments of the world know about it that SOMEONE hasn't leaked that story? Really? Industrialists "inventing" the alien tech, with 45 of the top 30 corporations having all of their data hacked and released online in the past week or so it seems like? (Yeah, several of them got hit more than once…)
    Then you've got the situation with the US and several "healthy respect" countries like Russia and China and the whole IOA thing… That's gonna be hard to do right now if everything is secret. Plus as we left S10, it was kind of a foregone conclusion that sooner than later it was probably going to have to become public knowledge. In a world where there's now LLMs and drones and big data changing everything about everything … how do you pick that story up, set right now?
    And how does the geopolitical landscape change with a public gate? Putting the gate on the moon sounds interesting, I know that was floated.
    Honestly given the current landscape today I don't know how you reboot the show even. Things are a bit in flux right now.

      By my guesstimation, by the end of SGU, the number of people on Earth who knew about the Stargate would have been in the 100s of thousands, there is no way the news hadn't broken by then. I think the best way to go would be a next generation set 15 years later, with the Gate common knowledge and people migrating through the gate. You can still have some of the OG characters from all 3 series but more in support roles, create a new SG team with new characters to lead the series.

    • @knghtbrd
      @knghtbrd Месяц назад

      @Harldin My post on some Gateworld video about a show set on a moon-based "gateport" with a failed Ba'al clone running another corporation (where people can keep an eye on him) that built the facility is still a possibility! Sadly without Ba'al since we lost Cliff Simon. And I'd totally worked out how to have it work, too. Figured the cloning failed so that host and symbiote fused in such a way that the result is a new being that remembers … but isn't Ba'al and wouldn't do the things he did. Still the sort of man Sam would just punch in the face (and would like her for it), but not actually EVIL more than any other CEO… Show being lots of political intrigue. The series big bad … us. Because nothing is more dangerous than humanity. You thought the NID or Goa'uld infiltrated Trust was bad?
      They'd never make it. It'd be like Caprica after BSG. Too much talking getting in the way of shooting stuff. And no Cliff to play the "Dr. Smith" sort of character whose intentions are not always trustworthy but who isn't directly The Villain.

    I would not be upset if Teal'c fans got a Teal'c spinoff, but I personally wouldn't be interested in that story as described, unless it was part of a larger narrative.
    The ancient gate-network-creating ship was interesting enough, and should not have been cancelled. I liked a lot of the stuff involving the ancients, but not the ascended ancients or the Ori. I would like to see the human potential with "ancient powers", as time goes on, achieving things through biological means, rather than technology, like the Nox, and being less reliant on the "dial home" devices as points of tension.
    I think the stories with the Ori walked too close to comfort, drawing the God of the Bible into range of these false alien 'gods'... failing to show the supremacy of a being such as God, compared to these things that call themselves gods, without making him just another very technologically advanced alien. (if they're not going to go there, I'd rather they leave him out entirely.)
    I didn't like the series going in the way of so much time travel. That always gets messy.
    I was always more a fan of Daniel Jackson, and Carter's more intellectual approach to scenarios, and nearly always rolled my eyes when the military side of things was too prominent in episodes... however, with Atlantis, I found them dangerously close to taking the civilian side too far, as well. I don't think many of today's writers would be able to successfully walk that line... but the pendulum is swinging... so maybe soon.

    As soon as I heard that Christopher Judge was pitching a him-centric spin-off, I was put-off, just by the notion of shameless self-promotion. It should be noted that my value system was installed pre-WWW, and then, due to chronic poverty away from a university (which would've maintained computer access), I spent years internet-starved, just popping into pay-as-you-go internet cafes to send emails. By the time my internet access returned, social media was rolling, and I discovered my "ethics" had missed years of "updates". When I was a kid, I was told it was vain to have photos of yourself. How incompatible is that with today's online culture?! Hence, my knee-jerk response. However, when it was related that Tealc's people would represent something akin to a new Wakanda, and ethics around technology hording/sharing would have to be developed, THAT really interested me. THAT might have legs. People would want to know where THAT would go. To hear that he'd been favourably received at several vetting stages, only for big corporate moves to throw everything up in the air was really disheartening. Much as I would FAR, FAR prefer a resumption of Stargate Universe (NEVER too late for that; they're in stasis, after all), I would rather have a thoughtful Tealc spin-off than nothing at all. Go, Christopher Judge!

The only thing that could solve it is something like the *burn* that shuts down space-technology, and that has be done before (Star Trek discovery) or an even more powerfull enemy than the Ori and Wraith ......... Do a continuation, set in 2025. It's been about fifteen years or so since we last saw the Stargate universe, so there's probably been quite a few changes. It would be best to focus on a new cast of characters, but with the old characters still alive and out there in the world. They might even have guest stars every once in a while from the older shows. There have been no major threats since the Ori, so the universe has grown and evolved. But some new big bad rises up, to become the focus of the new series.

    I‘m afraid they‘ll either produce a Manga version of the original shows (because it‘s cheaper and faster), or, now that Disney‘s only recent Star Wars success was The Goonies in space, Star Gate Kindergarten. Everyone involved with legacy IP seems to be completely clueless about why the original was beloved, only picking part of the visual aesthetics, a few key characters which then are gender-swapped or re-ethnicized. Anything not to have to be innovative. Also, in many cases, there seems to be outright disdain for what the original was and meant to viewers. So let‘s just prequel and destroy anything that came before.
    Chris has the right instinct. I would also love a show which doesn‘t focus on earth. If a prequel, how did the worms open the gate and rise to power? There‘s loads of story points to hook into. Or which other civilisations discovered how to use it and what did they use it for? Unless destroyed and burried, the technology seems to be for the ages. Trade, exploration, non-human folks, ancient civilisations besides the ascended… I will forever mourn the loss of the Asgard. So if you need to jump in time, how about more about them? Doesn‘t have to be Thor. Just don‘t destroy their legacy and don‘t over explain that which was elegantly told indirectly before. Not every plot point needs filling.
    Even IF you have to go 80s, how about a band of mischiefs from different worlds who just routinely use the gate to meet and get into trouble? Well-meaning but failing on a personal level, all the while stumbling from one archeological site inhabited by modern folks to another, being street smart but most of the time missing the big picture because to them, the gate is just a commodity. Of course, older generations would have their views on what the gate SHOULD be used for. Perhaps they had technology and knowledge which got lost or perhaps the mischiefs have means which their parents didn‘t have access to. Did they find it? Did they develop it? How far would you go if you weren‘t the human military trying to fend off system lords?

  • @Yemith_Gaming

    I think a reboot is really no choice at this point. Earth has become the only real super power. The wraith bring the only challenge cause they simply zerg rush now. They no longer outclass Earth's ships so numbers will be their game. Pretty much all system lords are dead. Except maybe a hidden Baal clone. The Ohri wiped out. Pretty much no threats left. The asgard suiceded except for a splinter group in Atlantis spin off. Can't remember there names, but one acient power is pure pacifist, the Furlings haven't been seen. So, if they continued original series one of them would have to be the antogonist.

    In watching amazon streaming content, they lack good writers. Stargate has always had an ancient aliens vibe. Christopher Judges pitch is right on the money. You could start in prequel mode by introducing a tie to South American pyramids containing a stargate with real heroic women and native Americans being added by Te'Oque's people assisting real Amazonian's in their fight against say a Mayan tribe before fleeing to their planet. Through a gate similar to the Russian gate. Now, you have a prequel story and fast forward to the modern SG universe where they build their own ships and fight a new Borg/Cylon/Cardassian/Klingon/Gorn type foe just like in the star trek universes. Fangoria/Cosplay creators could go wild with this new universe. But, they need a writer who understands science, fantasy, and sci-fi genre. The possibilities are truly endless!
