@@eileencarroll6418 I didn’t! Was it Tommy?! I wasn’t playing close enough attention to the picture just then, I kinda heard Barney say the line after it cut away from the others, sure by the sound of it it woulda been Tommy. Always prefer the knuckles myself, and Tommy is one of the absolute greats of all time, of course. Did you recognize the whistle or flute player? I didn’t really take a good look, so I’ll go back and rewatch that bit! Thanks much for pointing out!👍
@@baizhanghuaihai2298 Give it another look and listen. We were all that much younger in 1979, ha, ha. Turn up the volume, there's a particularly sweet triplet toward knows.- so amazing to do that with hands. I do not recognize the other players in that group but would be interested in learning the names if anyone else knows. And the footage of Michael playing AND dancing AND singing is priceless. Very grateful to have seen this.
@@marktobin7507 OK, so that was Olcan Masterson of Convenience Reel fame playing whistle in the group session with Tommy Hayes. "Micho Russell" played whistle earlier in the video, then he danced and then he sang a song. Such a treat!
Many thanks for posting. This is a great piece of film. I watched it a couple of weeks ago and I’ve come back for more.👍😀

Well said 👍
Great beginning .. a bit like an Irish version of Easy Rider but without Motorbikes.. a Citroen van is just as good !
Great stuff
Superb thanks
I remember this when i was a lad at.home
Barney: “Nice bodhran, nice and light, that’s the way to do it.”
If only all bodhran players would take the great man’s advice.
Did you not recognize Tommy Hayes? He is probably the most masterful hand player in the world to this day, and he did not miss a puff!

Can anyone help me out with the name of the first tune? With the harmonized banjos. Probably one of the most beautiful things I've heard in my life.

Can anyone help with the name of this reel please? Great tune
Farewell to Erin is the one Barney belts out in the middle of the square in Ennis.
First one is called Drops of Brandy I believe
Does anyone know the names of the Swedish fiddle players?
Is that Grian from Fontaine’s DC in the black leather jacket at @7:47 ?!
RTE's finest moment. Anyone know the name of the reel at 4:30?
