The cattle drive must've been funny and frustrating! We had a broody hen again and she went in the basement for three days. Cured! We've got Americana too and they are a fun breed. Holly wanted colored eggs (I only want production!). Fun video! Cheers!
Well, we tried putting the chicks under the broody hens again, but it didn't work this time. They rejected them, or the chicks rejected the Mommas, not sure which it was. We took them away again. Now we have the baby chicks in the run in a separate cage. We will see how it goes. The Easter Egger colors are so fun!! Thanks guys!
This was the first video I've seen of your homestead, but I follow a number of homesteaders in New England as well as in Oklahoma and Alabama -- and those folks are so willing to share info. The Okies hold a Homesteaders' conference every year where they offer a number of classes over a couple of days -- you do not need to make more mistakes in a vacuum. Please think about sitting down with other folks who are more knowledgeable.

We jumped in with no experience or knowledge but were eager to learn, and we did a lot of research.
