As a huge fan of Metro 2033 and it’s universe, I love how many important locations from the book and games are mentioned. Really interesting to hear about their real life purposes and stories!
There is a lot underground, but it's not a Putin thing... it's cold war thing. While there was a pause in the 90s, once the gov't got back up on their feet, they didn't exactly abandon many of the projects that were being pursued. Some got repurposed and maybe instead of a secret research facility, we got something else, but none of this is really new. This is standard Russia. We used to have entire cities that didn't exist where they were doing either R&D or produced something awful (my aunt worked in one of them). I would assume a lot of the things that they don't want seen simply moved underground, so if entire underground military sites turned up, it would not surprise me one bit.

Very fascinating story. As a person who read the novel Metro 2033, I was very interested in the part about Moscow and the second metro. The whole story about the underground of Moscow is a very special and interesting part of the city. Stories about bunkers like these or for example the german goverment bunker are always very fascinating. Very good designed and informative video!

I've been visiting an active bunker (won't say where and operated by which country); and I can tell that this is an awful environment where I was quickly deasy. I would rather live in the forest than being trap in a bunker for more than a day.

I love the videos and the effort you put in to them, its just amazing, but sadly i honestly have to say that i'm somewhat missing the enthusiasm and the emotions in the voice of the speaker. At some points in the video its just very monotone making it hard for me to follow and stay focused although i really want to learn more about the subject. I prefer Finland's approach. The underground bunker is designed to accommodate the entire city population (not just the 3-4 most powerful men and the military) and you can access it at all times (you can even rent a space to play football lol).
Regardless of any elaborate bunker, unless they wish to live their remaining days in there, then they will need to eventually leave it. They’ll then realise that nothing of what they previously knew of will still exist. They’ll then wish they were dead any way.
