You Hollars are a breath of fresh air, building, planting, playing, conversing, praying as a family. All the things!! Thankyou for daily content, never gets old.
Over the years I have subscribed to a lot of different channels. Some "van-lifers", some "RV-lifers, some "homesteaders" and preppers and more, but you guys are my absolute favorites! I am over-joyed when I see you all hold hands and pray at the supper table! I hope you never stop doing that and I hope (but somehow I know) that's not the only time you give thanks and call upon your heavenly father (and mine). You, my man, are so very blessed! You have been given a great family here on this earth and your wife is such a great gift to you!!! Your kids are so very lucky to have a mother AND a father who clearly love each other!!! You ALL represent everything we should be. Not saying you are perfect. No one is perfect, but you sure are the most wholesome and refreshing thing on RUclips!!! Thank you for blessing us and please don't change up on us. God bless your fantastic family!
LOVE the calm, warm, sweet conversation with your gal a few videos back while you both planted seeds. I sooooo wanted to raise our five on a homestead. God had other plans. We lived in the city on a corner lot where neighborhood children for blocks around gathered to play on our yard. Had a sweet baby 4 year old little girl begged to live with us. I was totally warmed by her request and assured her she could come to our house any time but she already had a home. ♥️ I've spent the last 6 years researching homestead stuff. Learning and watching videos from you and others. ♥️ I'm passing homestead information to my family these days!
I love that no matter how busy you are, or how many projects you may have going on, you always sit down as a family and eat dinner. I notice you always pray before your meal as well and this just warms my heart. The whole picture of your family around the dinner table, holding hands, with heads bowed…even buggy’s 😊. Just so cool. What a great example you are…for all of us.
I just love yall to pieces. Yall my California kids along with sow the land. Meg ALWAYS has a smile on her face. That tells me everything. You a GOOD man with a wonderfull hard working family.
I really enjoy your videos ! Such a beautiful life you are giving your kids ! I wish we could have raised our four ( now grown )kids in a beautiful country setting and given them such an ideal childhood ! Your videos show people what is possible ! We never knew this type of life existed! Loved the story about the sprinklers . I do not have a story like that , but I also love the sound of those types of sprinkles as well ! Very soothing ! You guys inspire me every video to figure out more ways we can live a more natural and beautiful life every day ! Really funny we spent 40 years in California before we move to Texas 20 years ago, we always made our tacos out of ground beef, never heard of using any other kind of meat until well moved here to Texas. So poor men tacos is the only tacos we know !! We still make them that way!
I'm a Mexican living in So Cal and I know "poor man tacos' very well! Every once in a while I could make my own carne asada and that was a huge treat! Enjoy those tacos. My grandmother's kitchen always smelled so good too.
My homescool high-school girl wants to visit you all in a workshop (maybe a cow milk cheese and butter workshop). She has been following you for three years, started a very large and enormous garden. Now she is starting her meat birds (in a subdivision-ha,ha...). She hopes to order her chickens and quail in May. I wish you could meet one of your top fans.
That's a storm! The corn rows looked good on the garden bed. I love it when it cools down after a rain. Yum, steaming peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! Green beans, go for it! Biscuit is getting big! Good thing you rigged a way to protect your stuff in the barn from him. Thanks for this Hollars!
My husband couldn't bare to bite into a cow's meat, but he would enjoy ground beef. So I would make him San Antonio style tacos. We started calling them Daddy tacos. He has been gone for 25 years now and you saying "Ohhhhh so good" sure brings back memories too. I can almost taste them. Thank you for sharing your wonderful stories. Great job on your videos. Very enjoyable. Learning lots about pigs.
Meg, I wanted to take a moment just to lift you up. You are an awesome person that always has a lovely smile and a laugh to share with us all. You are a wonderful help mate to Ben, always supportive, loving, and understanding. A good wife is a gift from God and Ben hit the Jackpot when he got you. You are doing a fine job raising your kids, just a happy family all the way around. Mrs. Meg if I had a hat I'd take it off to you. Thank you for sharing recipes and cooking tips, and wow! What a great cook you are. I have no children of my own but if I had a daughter I'd want her to be just like you! May God continue to bless you, Ben, and the kid'os. ~Susan
Been watching since you were in Cali. I love your bravery in the move and your tenacity in pushing forward year after year. You've got peace and a measure of security that I think is a great comfort in how you have chosen to live your lives. Keep it up, Hollars.
Yup, its like an "all hands on deck" situation, weathers turned nice and now its a mad rush to plant all the things! Been craving to start planting since January! Great job on the large tilled garden!
Daily videos are the best. Please do not stop. I am literally looking for property as we speak to start our first homestead. Seeing all of this good bad n ugly just increases my drive. Thanks guys for being an inspiration and God Bless!
@@gentleman593 I am a housewife. Preacher, worship song leader for our church and we have a small homestead with chickens and ducks. And big garden. I love canning our food and taking care of home.
So silly, I find my self grinning through the whole video. You have no idea the pleasure you bring to this old lady as I watch and digest the wonderful homestead experience you provide.
When I first started watching your vlogs I could see such a struggle and awkwardness in your relationship. Now I see happiness. Congrats on sticking it through
As soon as I heard the sound of the sprinkler I thought of my husband who I lost in January. He loved to be out in the garden and after puttering around most summer evenings he’d turn on the sprinkler for a little while. It’s a sweet memory. Listening to you talk about your dad touched my heart.
When Bugster called the calf, and the music played, I teared up a bit. Because all any of us really want is to raise our families in a secure way, with a place to call home. Bless. Aunty in Ireland.💚
Oh man, you ought to try Taco de papa's, real poor man taco. Mashed potatos instead of meat and white corn tortillas, you lightly heat in a pan, then fold them in the shape of taco, fill with one scoop mashed potato, slather with cheese. Set them on a cookie sheet in the oven for about 10 minutes. Then garnish with salsa, avocado, pinco de gio. Yummy!
It's so fun watching your little girl just fly with them little legs of hers lol the boys better look out there is a new boss in town lol she is growing like a weed and your homestead is a kid's dream place to grow up I grew up in the city but my grandparents lived on a farm and we had a ball when we would go there because we had a creek to swim in and fields and woods to run around in and chickens and cows to pet it was a ball and we loved it
Love bird sprinklers, they're relaxing, and make for great memories. Y'all have that itch to get planting. I believe all homestead, and farm friends have the same itch. The weatherman stated this morning to expect rain all week long in various percentages......I'm doing the seed dance, and can't wait to plant more seeds. I'm even pulling flower seeds to beautify the garden, and attract bees, butterflies, and mire hummingbirds.
Meg IS the best mom in the world. She reminds me of myself. Young ladies (in MY) opinion of this generation do not cook like in the 'olden' days. My son's learned to cook at a very early age. They watched me and my mom cook everything from scratch. No boxes in this house. Both of my son's can cook for themselves and don't necessarily need a young lady to do it for them. And as far as I'm concerned, you are the best dad too. I love watching how you teach the boys and spend time with them even if it's doing chores. Both of you are wonderful examples of parenting. I love watching how you both interact with each other also like a couple should be. And Bug, she is adorable!!!! My husband tells young couples, when we say we've been married for the 47 years, "If you treat your man like a king, you will be his queen.". God bless all of you.
All the garden prep leading up to the grand finale of planting the corn!! I love thunderstorms💜! I was raised in the Midwest and that beautiful clean smell afterwards was heavenly! You guys are doing such a great job and thank you for all the wonderful videos💜💜!!
This was a good video. The sweetest sight in this entire video was seeing precious Bug bowing her head as the family prayed over the meal. Usually when families pray the tiny tots are shoving food in their mouth or looking around at everyone. I know she’s to young to understand, but seeing all the good examples in her life she will come to understand at an earlier age. What a blessing!
I tear up every time your family bends your heads to pray and your sweet little girl bends her little blonde head with you. Thank you for sharing your family.
I feel Meg's itch to plant seeds! Up here it's the snowpeas or sugar snaps. Nothing like that first row of seeds, setting in the stakes and netting. Ahhh, spring. It's just the best.
I absolutely love seeing all of you sitting together around the table. We make "hobo" stew which is made from ground beef fried with onions and then add stewed tomatoes and potatoes with cumin to flavor. We like it just about as well as we do with stew meat.
Lovin' the garden bed! I am chompin at the bit to get stuff planted too but have to wait til May 15th ish... That baby girl is so sweet. Love watching her explore her homestead! 💖
Patience, spring will get there when it is ready! until then set back and dream, of all the goodness of harvest, and hot bread peanut butter jelly sandwiches. It is a good life! thank you ALL stay safe
Buggie is at the cutest age. She tickles me to death watching her running around exploring, singing, and talking! I think Biscuit is such a beautiful calf, and he's getting so big too. Back when I first got married in the 70s, ground beef was considered a poor man's meat. Jump ahead to current day, ground beef is no longer a poor man's beef. It costs about $8 a pound or more at the grocery store. Hey, did you all hear about the big fire at Azure Standard? I have been considering ordering from them as there's a drop off literally less than a mile from my house. Now I wonder when/if they will be able to supply orders any time soon. If you all have any info about it, I'd love to know.
Your calf is beautiful, even if it is male. It has a classic cow face, head and ears. Get him an agent, and sign him up for cow gigs in Hollywood! Big soulful brown eyes with nice color and markings. : )
I hate to say this, but when I first got married our groceries cost us $19.00 that included steak, hamburger, chicken and pork, milk, bread, eggs etc. My how times changed. 😜. Of course, kids came along then started a huge garden, fruit orchard, berries, butchering our own, beef, pork, chickens and let's not forget we had a large dairy farm fresh raw milk and cream, so butter and the all important ice cream 😂. May God grant you a bountiful garden this year as well as bountiful chickens, pork and beef when he's ready. Blessings to you and the family. 😊🇺🇲
Plant what you can....where you can. My beets sprouted, day 5...I have beets growing....lots of beets. I'm over the moon. I love to garden. It's my happy place. Can't wait to plant my beans. Usually plant them around Memorial Day weekend. If the weather stays nice...I might plant a little earlier than usual.
Wow Meg you are an awesome cook. The homemade bread look delicious. Your boys are growing to young men and daddy’s helpers. Little Buggy is so darling roaming around the place. Your garden reminds me of when I was younger and mom and I would be planting the garden together. Those memories I will never forget. Love your videos and I will keep watching. Ben is a Jack of all trades which is a good thing. Job well done 👍🏽
This video brought a smile to my face. Buggy taking a backwards glance and then off she went. Sound of the sprinklers, stories of your past. Does that girl ever get out of the kitchen??? 😁
For me it’s the smell of my shed with the lawn mower in it. Smells like my dad. I lived in the city in Philadelphia. He lived in Indiana born in Alabama. I would visit him every summer and when I open my shed I smell him🙌🏻🤔💗😂
Love your idea with the beans Meg. You either get them or you don’t…..if they grow, early beans! Isn’t Buggy so adorable repeating words and that’s when you need to be cautious. 😃
Hey Ben & Meg, and family I am so enjoying watching your videos! I remember back when you were in CA, when Ben had short hair,, and not much facial hair Ben you look great! and so longing to move out of here! I am so happy you found your homestead. The boys have grown so much. My youngest daughter and her hubby found 12 acres in the Sierra Nevada foothills. It has two houses on it, and since good old mom almost died twice I got to come along. This is our first year here. We have a huge hen house and we got 6 chickens and 5 Guinea Fowls, to help with the ticks the deer bring. The backyard is two acres fenced with eight foot high deer fence. Sorry this is so long. Keep doing what you are doing!
It's always interesting listening to conversations between "young" children and their parents... we don't understand but the parents sure do and that's what makes it funny.
your little bug is so adorable. it is so precious to hear her little voice and get a little peek at her exploring the big ole world around her! and daddy, when your small like that you have to hurry and try and see as much as you can as fast as you can, between those nap times that catch up with one! LOL
I just want to thank you for putting out so many videos. There is so much to be concerned about today without turning the news on. When I put your show on the tightness in my chest leaves the worry lines around my eyes relax and I catch myself laughing thoroughly enjoying watching your struggles and watching you overcome them. I love that you demonstrate that it is resourceful and not impossible to upcycle things and create new things out of old things and find solutions to things that seem so big. You show that there's hope and this is really what built America. America has never been and never will be quitters -it's simply not in our blood to give up. I love the antics of your children and find myself laughing with them and laughing at that baby as she tries to talk and I find that just one little show in my day has reduced all the stress that's made my chest tight my neck hurt and rewards a long day of work. God bless you for staying strong and showing us where there's a will there's a way. With God all things are possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Ya'll seem so happy as a family 👪 And I just love seeing Little Buggy exploring and getting so excited about everything. Brings back memories of my two girls when they were her age.
My husbands grandma and grandpa used to live close to Mexico boarder when his grandpa was in the military. When they were between pays they could go to Mexico and get cheap ground beef and taco shells. They always called it their poor man’s food as well. Another thing they ate was sos. Hamburger meat with a flour based gravy over toast. Super good
We were so poor at one time we fought over the piece of salt pork that seasoned beans and peas...and I still hate milk gravy made from fried salt pork drippings...js...also the "bbq" my mom made...cheap canned tuna covered in bbg sauce...ugh
Great a wife that cooks for her family , whole made food , breads, building your own memories, for your family. God and Family. God's land a gift from him. Very nice. the 🎶 music is nice.
Ben you do say that every time but I know Meghan really appreciates all your compliments lol Y'alls little girl is so adorable she just warms my heart. Our grandchildren don't live near us so I love watching y'alls little ones. God bless y'all
Blessed be the rain! We get 6" to 8" a year so I drool when I see your rain back there! I truly love all the videos you kids have been putting up on youtube!
I grew up poor those are the only tacos I know. They are my favorite. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Your children are having the best lifestyle any kid could have, The only thing missing is a pond with a rope swing to swim in. Great channel keep it up
We do tacos with minced beef, rarely with steak. Grab an El Paso Taco kit and go! Wishing you all the best for your summer growing season. It’s great to see those beds prepared and amended ready for all the seeds and plants to go in. So much hard work 😓
See that sprinkler, we grew up with those too! It's a great sound also reminding me of summer days, bbqs and watermelon, running through them, freedom to play until the street lights came on with all the neighbourhood kids. Definitely those were the days. I know poor man tacos... I love ground beef tacos, tomatoes, lettus, beef, and heaps of cheese and salsa! Mmmm delicious. I can smell them now! I love your corn bed. It's a beautiful sight. I can't wait to see them grow. I love corn plants!
NOTHING LIKE PLANTING A SEED IN THE GARDEN. SO MUCH HOPE AND POTENTIAL IN ONE LITTLE PACKET OF SEEDS. GOD BLESS YOUR EFFORTS. HERE’S HOPING YOU HAVE A BOUNTIFUL HARVEST OF YUMMY GREEN BEANS
I've started watching you earlier vlogs! I should have watched them last year when you were so busy with the baby. Oh well, enjoying them so much! You guys are some of my top homesteader vlogs! So enjoying your new schedule!
Lol, my memories about the rainbird sprinklers is stepping out on the porch and hearing it and freezing in place until I’m certain it’s not a rattler😂😂😂To this day I react the same
Omg. That was lunch once a week at my Grandma’s house! Fresh bread and milk from their dairy farm. Grandma made her own jellies, jams and preserves, plus bread and butter pickles as well as dill pickles.
Biscuit is getting so big. He is surely filling out that little stall. H barely reached the top of the gate, Now he could probably jump over if he had the notion. Meg good vibes for the green beans.
Ben, you’re a machinist. My ex wasn’t, but he made a homemade plow and attached it to the back of the tiller. It worked like a charm, WAY cheaper than the attachments they make for them…
Do you have "chip drop" in your area? Do consider filling your walking paths in-between rows with wood chips. First to reduce the compaction impact on the soil. Second, they will help with water/ moisture evaporation and/ or retention. Third, they may or may not do a little microbe and worm propagation and even do a little composting. Old school in this area was to use old fence board down in between the rows then try to walk only on the boards. Cardboard down the rows will work but if you've got clay (lol), wet and moist clay on cardboard is slick to say the least.
It looks like that sweet baby has brought such happiness and completed everyone. We call my two year old granddaughter Sister, too, and she loves to garden. Valerie in SC
I can’t blame her. I planted 2 rows of green beans today. Waiting to plant the ones that are in the house is so hard. So far I have potatoes, onions, beets, radishes, peas, spinach, and as of today I have green beans planted.

I've never had steak tacos. i only knew ground beef tacos. and we lived 11 miles from TJ!
ours always been ground beef or chicken
I so enjoy watching your family pray and dine together...a TRUE family....reminds me of my 60+ years ago... Prayers & Blessings..
This video brought a smile to my face. Buggy taking a backwards glance and then off she went. Sound of the sprinklers, stories of your past. Does that girl ever get out of the kitchen??? 😁
Biscuit is just a perfect looking little calf👍🏻
For me it’s the smell of my shed with the lawn mower in it. Smells like my dad. I lived in the city in Philadelphia. He lived in Indiana born in Alabama. I would visit him every summer and when I open my shed I smell him🙌🏻🤔💗😂
Love your idea with the beans Meg. You either get them or you don’t…..if they grow, early beans!
Isn’t Buggy so adorable repeating words and that’s when you need to be cautious. 😃
Hey Ben & Meg, and family
I am so enjoying watching your videos!
Yep, lots of great memories of playing in the water and my children playing in the water of a rainbird sprinkler . Ahhhh, thanks for the memories .
your little bug is so adorable. it is so precious to hear her little voice and get a little peek at her exploring the big ole world around her! and daddy, when your small like that you have to hurry and try and see as much as you can as fast as you can, between those nap times that catch up with one!
Couldn't agree MORE about the rainbird sprinkler sound..... Nothing better to take a nap to!
Nothing like acknowledgement when your cooking...its a great thing...I'm sure Meg loves it
Nothin better than thunderstorms. I love them so much.
Buggie is so cute very smart farm girl teaching her gardening
Beautiful
I also plant with reckless abandon!
Plants don’t ‘need’ as much space as they say they do!!
Wow....Great Job...Loves The Buggie
I love everything about your life! So enjoyable to see the kids, your garden, Megs bread!
The garden tiller is a huge asset to your farm. Can't wait to see your first garden tour. God Bless.
Wow. I never knew I had been eating poor man's tacos my entire life. Poor men eat well... soo good!
Biscuit is getting so big. He is surely filling out that little stall. H barely reached the top of the gate, Now he could probably jump over if he had the notion. Meg good vibes for the green beans.
Hello Meg and Ben from deep south Louisiana. Try grilling your peanut butter and jelly sandwich!! It’s a life changer.
Ben, you’re a machinist. My ex wasn’t, but he made a homemade plow and attached it to the back of the tiller. It worked like a charm, WAY cheaper than the attachments they make for them…
Sista sounds like she might be an Opera Star ⭐️ with that beautiful high pitch ♥️♥️💐Break A Leg Sista 💐⭐️
When Mama said it's the best life: 🤗💕🎉☮️💖🙏
Buggy is so lucky to have y'all for parents. She has no idea!
I love the sound of rain bird sprinklers…😊

Troll alert
Loved hearing the personal stories in this vlog. Seeing that tiny head bowed as your family prayed together just warmed my heart.
It truely is the best life for you and your family. Makes me smile for you. And planting with abandon, it's a good thing.
I can't do a Garden this year. I'm living vicariously through y'all!
I just love the way you dance with the soil in the garden.
I can’t blame her. I planted 2 rows of green beans today. Waiting to plant the ones that are in the house is so hard. So far I have potatoes, onions, beets, radishes, peas, spinach, and as of today I have green beans planted.
