I just baught my first octabox, it's not the one I wanted but it's what I could afford, westcott apollo .Your right putting my soft boxes together are s hastle
We got one of these for year book, we used it for a few weeks then the old 3200 blew up and dripped oil, then we put it one one of our 2 1600s then that one blew, so by the end of my first year being photo editor we were down to one flash and two kenoflows
Very informative. Do you know any speed ring adapter/insert that I can use to mount this paul c buff octabox on my Flashpoint monolight with Bowens mount?
+Theoria Apophasis I called Paul c buff and they said they are not aware of any ring adapter that can be used for bowens mount. Their octabox is designed to be used with balcar/alien bees mount :). I thought Bowens mount is quite common.
ty good sir, may i ask what the brand of your collapsible octobox is? i thought shes great n closes in less time than my giant octobox ( got a six footer thats like a massive phat lady )
I'm having trouble finding a decent stand for a monolight. There are so many super cheap ones. Anyone have a brandname? Not full pro need, but not crap. Thanks
Your video title... "Octabox vs. Softbox" and yorself while you describe them. You make them sound like 2 different things. "Octagonal softbox vs Rectangular softbox" as an example will be more fitting - reduces confusion for newbies in the field.
mrN3w7 it's actually pretty much understood that softboxes are squared while octaboxes are 8 sided and strip boxes are rectangular. They're all softboxes after all, but it's way more troublesome to distinguish them the way you tried to advocate.
Such a wealth of knowledge. I've learned so much from your videos. Keep up the good work
you mean me???? hahha pfffft
He sounds like the type of dude who’s constantly in that “what am I doing with my life” kind of state 😂 for example.... 3:45 😂

Thanks so much for sharing this video. I really loved the octobox. Could you please share the model?
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. This video really helped explain the differences clearly.
What would say are the best uses of a 48" octobox? Would you do individuals? full body? small group?

Happy face tattoo on the back of the head would be more entertaining! LOL! Just kidding Ken! YOu're not fat, you're just super huggable! LOL!
Nice Guy. Thanks for the VIdeo.
Great video Ken! Which stand are you using? I bought 2 of the Paul Buff 13' stands. If I'm in the market for another one, which would you recommend?
Lumipro stands :) those are the best (and FING HELL THEYRE HEAVY)
Right on the money.
Good explanation of both. Thank you!!
Awesome video Ken, What its the name of the octabox? Between this one And the elincrome deep octa 100? Whith should i go for.?
What do you think of the Buff PLM vs. octobox and softbox?
Any chance that an 80cm octabox could be used for full length portraits or would they be too small?
If using a speedlight such as SB900 would it be better to use the diffuser on the flash head?
Very informative. Do you know any speed ring adapter/insert that I can use to mount this paul c buff octabox on my Flashpoint monolight with Bowens mount?

+Theoria Apophasis I got one Glow Grand 47" Octabox from Adorama. Do you know how does it compare to this Paul C Buff 47" Octabox?
sooooooo many octaboxes out there!!! nobody has even used half of them :)
Is it a good idea to use a reflector plate/disc inside an octabox to convert it into a beauty dish. If yes, can we do it with this octabox?
So Ken, wouldn't be cheaper to put a good diffusion fabric bought separately on a crapy octa?
yeah, but then U gotta sew on the velcro…….Grrrrrrr
Tattoos are bad ass! Knowledgeable and funny 😂
Very helpful, Thank You.
What is that connector piece called that is going from the stand to the light? Why do you use it?
Marcy Appelbaum Reindl speed ring, is that what you means?
Ken... what about parabolic octaboxes?
If you find it hard to set up a rectangular softbox ... er ...
I wonder where you found that softbox. Normally they're very simple.
The angry photographer is a powerhouse....hes my father jjk
Would the moon unit of the abr800 be considered a octobox?
it is yes, a very shallow one, i have one
ty good sir, may i ask what the brand of your collapsible octobox is? i thought shes great n closes in less time than my giant octobox ( got a six footer thats like a massive phat lady )
