If the windsor was so great, why did they have to mod cleveland heads to make it compete with the clevelands which where known as "big block killers" ??? Which 351 did de tomaso put in the pantera???
Can I get this through anyone’s head? The 351W sucks always did, always will. In the 70s you could not give the 351 w away. The stock heads were 302 2V heads. It wasn’t until the aftermarket started making heads and intakes. The 351W had a 3 inch main and short rods. It was a slug and was the epitome of the malaise era. The aftermarket rescued it. The FE was built as a race engine and took headers and a cam and they were badass.
351 Windsor. Millions built. Excellent reliable architecture, cooling, and oiling system. Available in factory production vehicles for 28 straight years. Dependable through hundreds of thousands of miles. Basically a larger version of two engines sorely missing from this video, the 289 and the 302 Windsors.
Whoever produced this video is clueless about some of Ford's best engines. Where is the line of FE big block 427s with wedge heads or the cammer SOHC., the hi-po 289, Boss 351?
And as another poster here mentioned, the origional Windsor line was not a performance engine. Had regular non performance heads, unlike the Cleveland headed engines with bigger valves and built more with developing serious power in mind. Producer of this video missed the boat here big time.
No flatheads ,no 289's ,302's these engines were the stable for Ford, 😮😮😮😮
The 289 HiPo, even Shelby said it was the best engine for the Cobra's and GT350's.
4V 351 Cleveland.
The worst thing FORD made it only from 1970 to 1974..... Away to short time.
427 side oiler and the 427 SOHC
Indeed this list is very biased, windsor better than the cleveland?
How could you not have the glorious sound of the 5,2 voodoo?
The 390 , the 460.
The 429 was a semi hemi.
