Awesome improvement. I machine lots of aluminium on my exact router.I use a spray coolant system that sprays a fine mist of Isopropyl alcohol, I have been a machinist for 35 years and have only just used this. Cant believe how well it works.
That is a great video and a great result, very good information I'm thinking of buying a 6040 and your videos confirm now it will do what I want with your modifications. Thank you very much.
@@TomasTheCreator Outstanding, I have one of the newer 6040 router with linear guides on all axis, it should be here by the end of the month. Thanks, I will watch it now.
your a good insperation to the home hobbyist and glad i have found your channel. Looks like i will be buying the 3040 version as no need for the larger size, I do hope it can have the same upgrades.
It’d be nice to see a more consistent before and after comparison. Yes the Z axis is the weakest part but that’s due to the thin linear guide rods. The spindle clamp and backing plate (where your bracket bolts to) are already way overbuilt. I’m interested in making this upgrade for my machine but want to know it will truly make a difference before machining a bunch of aluminum
Thanks man😊 Haha never watched him, but WOW we look like twins😁 If you do this mod and beef up the table with either a new steel/aluplate or put a mdf-board under the old table you get a really good and capable machine👍🏻
ive also seen same version cnc in the 6090 configuration...i can onlybimagine how much worse the orig aluminium table flex would be since the span is a longer and no support under it....i wonder why manuf couldnt just add a couple additional supports for the aluminium bed to sit on...that would make it much stiffer and eliminate lot of the flex
Thanks for all your work. I have just checked out all your 6040 tests/upgrades. Your table and spindle mounting modificatoons have given you a much more expensive cnc machine :-)) I think the ultimate would also be if you tested it on steel. The difference would be interesting to see.
I have seen that, but wasn't that before you modified the spindle mounting? I am curious as to how it performs after the modification. Either way, I have to tell you Tomas, you have certainly answered questions I had about strengthening less expensive machines like you did. Again thank you.
I'm very satisfied with my machine, especially after some mods. I haven't had any problems at all with the precision. But you got to keep in mind that's 1000dollar machine and not a Kern😁
I think the Genmitsu is better for softer materials and it seems to have a better controlsystem. BUT it has weaker leadscrew and guides and it's a lot smaller.
@@TomasTheCreator Yes, your router is more robust, I think it is the best option for its price thanks for your reply. And what software do you use to design and then make the models? Thanks again 👋🏼.
It'a a Ironhand CH-10M I had it since 1998 and I'm quite happy with it. It was all I could afford at the time and it get's the job done. But nowadays you can find better machines.

Thank you! That sounds like a really good idea with the alcohol. And it dosen't get so messy like with water or air, I definitly going to try it👍🏻

hi Sr thank you for sharing you knowledge. i have the same machine but 6090 it is possible to get you project? thank you
Nice upgrade! Tks for sharing :)
Could you share the CAD please?
Wow I never tried aluminium on my 6040..thats very impressive
Aluminium is no problem at all now👍🏻👍🏻😃
Thanks

Thanks😊 I'm using a 2.2kW spindle with a max rpm of 24000r/min.
Can you please tell me what program you using to design the clamp on

Can you just tell me the inner diameter you used? The rest I can model my self, thanks D
