No one cares but I sang this @ my junior high school graduation in 1959! I’ll never forget it! I would soon be pregnant & if I’d known better I would have sang….longer.
Still my favorite In Memoriam. The pacing is respectful, the clips were well-chosen and emotionally-impactful / heartwarming. Most importantly, the audience appreciated it with their warm applause.
Precisely this in memoriam corresponds to those who died in 2008, the year my grandmother died, which in memoriam is more beautiful, I say it as for her
When I heard this years ago at the Oscar's.........I realized that this was really great.........I listen to this regularly.............what a version...........what a voice..................
Stunning. Heartbreaking. A class act. Memorial tributes don't come any better than this. Shimmering vocals, and the orchestrs was superb. This version should be available as a single. Thank you, Queen Latifah.
+Randy Herr I think that should have happened after the Oscars! I decided to come back here after how good Queen was as the title character in the Wiz Live.
It's a beautiful performance and tribute all around, but that last flourish of Whitmore, Heston, Minghella, Pollack and Newman was just...I wish there was an emoji for a chef kiss because that was perfect. It made me cry the first time I saw it and I still get choked up now.
What a song the voice is so beautiful Queen Latifah the music is fool of memories to my mom who’s first husband died during ww2 & this was the popular song @ that time God blessing be w/ you Queen Latifah & yours 🙏🙏❤️💕❤️🙏🙏
This song and video reminds us all of how alive we are.......until we are not. Queen Latifa absolutely kills/nails this song. She and the song are perfect!!!!!
Bernadette Peters owns this song. Austrian Gustav Mahler connected the five perfect notes in his 1895 third symphony, last movement. In 1936, New Yorkers Irving Fain found the lyrics and and Sammy Kahal who obviously listened and remembered the melody; together they created this treasure. Everything is derivative. Even the most beautiful things! We are blessed.
I really need a studio version of this song ... what a voice, Queen Latifah. And with all respect of the other artists, but why those people didnt clap when Charlton Heston, I mean, is THE CHARLTON HESTON!!! Or am I deaf o what?
I think you were right. This was an incredibly moving rendition by Ms. Latifah and so many great artists were lost...........but sadly, the live audience did everyone a disservice for noticeably not clapping for Charlton Heston. I sense it was his politics, but regardless it was small-minded and regrettable.
I'll Be Seeing You Billie Holiday I'll be seeing you In all the old familiar places That this heart of mine embraces All day and through In that small cafe The park across the way The children's carousel The chestnut trees The wishing well I'll be seeing you In every lovely summer's day In everything that's light and gay I'll always think of you that way I'll find you in the morning sun And when the night is new I'll be looking at the moon But I'll be seeing you I'll be seeing you In every lovely summer's day In everything that's light and gay I'll always think of you that way I'll find you in the morning sun And when the night is new I'll be looking at the moon But I'll be seeing you Songwriters: Irving Kahal / Sammy
Can someone please collect all the clips they use, and I mean all clips including the ones shown in the little squares, and make a version of this montage that's better?
There were a lot of tributes for Carlin that year and he was recognized by the Grammys, SAG, and he closed the Emmys. The Oscars tend to make more cuts than others and he was only in a few movies, but still worthy for sure.
There used to be another video out there that was all the same clips in the same order but in close-up all the way through with Queen only heard but not seen during the montage. Hard to find but worth it.
never noticed that charlton heston did not get enough seconds, nor an applause.. that was the woke media starting right there.. it should have shared the end with paul newman.
Oh please. Heston got a smattering of applause. Most of younger people just aren't as familiar with him/his wor. I doubt the youngsters watch The Ten Commandments (one of MY favs), whereas Newman had a second wind re popularity, with his food line. The OBSESSION and the FALSE BELIEF that EVERYONE in Hollywood is a LIBERAL is utterly, totally WRONG. You would be beyond flabbergasted; many, many conservatives are there among the creative community. Stop the false narrative. Everything isn't seen through the prism of politics. Seek help. You're nuts. By the way, Heston matched for civil rights and was at a the original March on Washington to hear Dr King's I Have A Dream speech. Just hush .
Alan Rickman Diaries 22 February The Oscars. No big surprises except Sean Penn rather than Mickey Rourke. Kate Winslet wins her Oscar2 - thank God since apparently someone is videoing her kids’ reaction at the announcement which initially sounds like a horrible idea but actually - quite right and why not? As ever, anyway, after 3 hours of it all, it becomes embarrassing and pointless and indulgent and embarrassing again. Not to mention the vulgarity of Queen Latifah singing ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ to pictures of Ant, P. Newman and Sydney Pollack.
BULLSHIT! 22 seconds long! How come that overhyped PAUL NEWMAN's montage was much longer than Marcello Mastroianni and Marlon Brando when they died years earlier, while his contribution was just less than a quarter of both actors had!
one of THE best versions of "I'll be seeing you." what a beautiful voice queen latifah!
It's because she doesn't over-sing it. It's a very pure version that lets the song speak for itself.
The Best !
No one cares but I sang this @ my junior high school graduation in 1959! I’ll never forget it! I would soon be pregnant & if I’d known better I would have sang….longer.
THIS SONG IS TIMELESS AND ALWAYS BRINGS BACK TO LIFE ALL THOSE GOOD MEMORIES.
Still my favorite In Memoriam. The pacing is respectful, the clips were well-chosen and emotionally-impactful / heartwarming. Most importantly, the audience appreciated it with their warm applause.
Paul Newman’s part is deservedly honored too.
Precisely this in memoriam corresponds to those who died in 2008, the year my grandmother died, which in memoriam is more beautiful, I say it as for her
The most beautiful rendition of this fabulous track there is. Latifah's performance and tone is stunning.
When I heard this years ago at the Oscar's.........I realized that this was really great.........I listen to this regularly.............what a version...........what a voice..................
My goodness, Queen Latifah did an amazing job. This was a great memorial.
when I first heard it I was shocked, what has Latifah been doing, her tone of voice is priceless
RIP Paul Newman (January 26, 1925 - September 26, 2008), aged 83
You will always be remembered as a legend.
The best version of this song. So emotional. :'(
Queen Latifah gave me goosebumps I never heard that song sung that beautifully.
I remember watching this live. Her performance gave me chills then, and just got them now.
Now I'm crying again. I love Queen Latifah's version of this song.
I came here for Paul Newmen.
Screwcharger85 came here for a nice song to kill myself
Really? Well... Charlton Heston, Ricardo Montalban, Michael Crichton, Pat Hingle, Roy Scheider, Leonard Rosenman, Robert DoQui, Stan Winston.
RIP, Chief Brody. I'll be seeing you someday. :(
R.I.P. Charlton Heston
Why oh why is this not available commercially? Seriously better than any other version.
Beautiful version from the Queen along with a fantastic arrangement/orchestra!
Sensational rendition by Queen Latifah
the best version of I'll be seeing you & the best Oscar's production until now 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Queen Latifah is one the few contemporary performers able to sing this standard!
Beautiful voice, and, from the shallow end of the pool I observe, beautiful gown and poise as well.
+Moira Russell The gown really added to the beauty of Latifah's performance.
I love her voice and sentiment in this music. She has a beautiful voice.
It's a beautiful performance and tribute all around, but that last flourish of Whitmore, Heston, Minghella, Pollack and Newman was just...I wish there was an emoji for a chef kiss because that was perfect. It made me cry the first time I saw it and I still get choked up now.
0:35 I lost it when I watched this live and saw the Bernie Mac clips. His death came super out the blue.
What a song the voice is so beautiful Queen Latifah the music is fool of memories to my mom who’s first husband died during ww2 & this was the popular song @ that time God blessing be w/ you Queen Latifah & yours 🙏🙏❤️💕❤️🙏🙏
Just beautiful
the best ever in memoriam. period.
This was so lovely, long live the Queen
that cover, queen latifah.is one the best versions,i have ever heard.thanks.
RIP Paul Scofield. Fantastic actor.
YES......Taylor/Moses/Ben Hur is here! RIp, my man. I love some of your movies.
BEAUTIFULLY SUNG!
Wow. I didn't know Queen Latifah could sing like that! Xx💖
One of the most moving in memoriam segments, out of the ones I've seen. Next to the one in 2004 by yo-yo ma. 😢
This song and video reminds us all of how alive we are.......until we are not. Queen Latifa absolutely kills/nails this song. She and the song are perfect!!!!!
Wow. How beautiful your voice queen we should have more old songs from you. Lovey is your voice. Make a album of just old songs. Just a great song.
Thank you Queen...you touched my heart with your beautiful rendition of this haunting tune.
Very beautiful Miss Latifah….😢
I cry of seeing Charlton Heston :'( He was an awesome actor from Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, and Planet Of The Apes.
Beautiful... 3:50 , Latiffa sings with! heart
A beautiful rendition!! Incredible voice! Truly one of the greatest versions Iv ever heard!!!

8 Years Ago I Was Shocked When Paul Newman Died From Lung Cancer At 83.
ese año 2010 -2011 junto perdidas de grandes actores y productores.
That was a tough year for film. Lost SOOOO many legends.

2016: “Hold my beer.”
Magnifique interprétation 😘👍

They did for Paul Newman, so they pretty much did things willingly.
Thanks Paul Newman for all
In memoriam! Paul Newman
My favorite is with Billy Holliday but Latifah sang it to the T. Beautifully
I'll Be Seeing You
Billie Holiday
I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day and through
In that small cafe
The park across the way
The children's carousel
The chestnut trees
The wishing well
I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you
I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you

Zen Abong ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Queen in her prime. Beautiful!
very Beautifullllllllllllllll I love it so much,
ToD Pol, in response to your question, the film in which the late Paul Newman spoke, that was most likely "Sweet Bird of Youth".
wow what a powerful voice
Belíssima homenagem!
Lovely!
Rip Maila Nurmi
Boo! They didn't include Eartha kitt and Don lafontaine (the voice in 500 movie trailers)!
No one seemed to clap for Charlton Heston
Probably did not catch on it
Can't they keep the camera in one place?
Does anyone know which movie is this with Paul Newman talking this wonderful quote??
Sweet Bird of Youth.
thank you mate
Sweet Bird of Youth
Float like a Cadallac, Steam like a Bemmer.
Can someone please collect all the clips they use, and I mean all clips including the ones shown in the little squares, and make a version of this montage that's better?
paul newman 保羅紐曼
It is Rod Stewart version
In Urdu Latifa means joke, I do not why anyone would wish to name themself as Queen Joke.
Come back Bernie Mac 🥺💔
He's gone but not forgotten!
I came to see if George Carlin was there and was woefully disappointed.
There were a lot of tributes for Carlin that year and he was recognized by the Grammys, SAG, and he closed the Emmys. The Oscars tend to make more cuts than others and he was only in a few movies, but still worthy for sure.
Maybe that's because he was not recognized by the Motion Picture Academy. But that's the way it is.
1:44 Now Hooper is alone.......
I thought this was In Memoriam for the actor not the Queen Latifah show
CHARLTON HESTON should of been 2nd to last at least am suprised abit
This is a complete unjustice to the archives. Queen Latifah is gorgeous & has the most heavanly voice, but this video is horrific quality. Sorry.
There used to be another video out there that was all the same clips in the same order but in close-up all the way through with Queen only heard but not seen during the montage. Hard to find but worth it.
oscarphile any chance you have a link to that other video? I know which one it is, shame its not on youtube anymore
never noticed that charlton heston did not get enough seconds, nor an applause..

Cuánta nostalgia te da ver este segmento en el 2008 y compararlo con lo patético y bochornoso del 2022...

Wow, Hollywood is so gross. They didn't clap Charlton Heston just because he was a Republican.
They were disallowed. They were asked to hold all applause until the segment was over. At least they were doing that for a while.
BULLSHIT!
22 seconds long! How come that overhyped PAUL NEWMAN's montage was much longer than Marcello Mastroianni and Marlon Brando when they died years earlier, while his contribution was just less than a quarter of both actors had!
Latifah song is the only good thing about this production. I hope they never do it that way again. Very difficult to read some names.
