Going against the grain
Runs in the family.
Basil Hayden Sr. - known as Old Grand-Dad to the generations that followed - made bourbon the way he wanted. He went against the traditional “grain” of the time and chose to distill his bourbon with a higher percentage of rye. This way of crafting bourbon was likely something he handed down to his son. And in turn, his grandson. That was Colonel R.B. Hayden who would justly name his bourbon after his Old Grand-Dad. The recipe today remains inspired by Basil’s original with complex flavors and an unmistakable spiciness. First bottled in 1882, very little has changed about it. And that’s the only way we’d have it.
10 YEAR OLD BOURBON
This small-batch bourbon offers a bouquet of vanilla spice followed by rich, creamy toffee on the palate. It finishes quickly with a touch of sweetness.
Legendary bourbon-makers Jimmy and Eddie Russell use their vast knowledge to craft this 10-year-old classic. Aged in No. 4 alligator char barrels and bottled at 90 proof, resulting in rich caramel and vanilla flavors and uniquely smooth finish.
Real Missouri Bourbon
Bourbon is by definition American-made. The spirit can only be made in the United States and it can be made in any state, but the finest bourbon results from an ideal combination of climate and geology that is rare outside of Kentucky but is found in the rolling hills of Weston, Missouri.
The Holladay Distillery was founded in 1856, making it both the oldest distillery in the state of Missouri and the oldest distillery west of the Mississippi still operating on its original site. The property sits on active limestone springs that were first charted by Lewis and Clark in 1804, more than fifty years before Ben Holladay purchased the land that would later become his legacy.
STRAIGHT RYE WHISKEY
BORN OF HEARTY GRAIN AND PATIENCE
THE GENEROUS RYE CONTENT IS MARRIED WITH THE SWEETNESS OF CORN FOR A GENTEEL INTERPRETATION OF THE VENERABLE SPIRIT. PATIENTLY AGED IN AIR-DRIED OAK BARRELS, ITS SPICY CHARACTER TRANSCENDS MERE RESURGENCE. BEHOLD - THE RENAISSANCE OF RYE.
HERALD
This meticulous blend brings together the spice of MGP’s high rye bourbon and Ironroot’s award-winning heirloom corn bourbon. The final blend is accentuated by the deep stone fruits and mahogany of French Armagnac casks.
The 1st two are like everywhere and are VERY popular. Ben Holladay BiB is really good, but not $60 good, what I have to pay. Mine are Trails End 10 year, Tumblin' Dice SB. New Riff SB, not sure their considered hidden, but definitely gems.
Good stuff I’ll have to check out tumblin dice.
@@the_whiskeyshaman FYI if you see it, the dice on the front tells you the age statement, 4-8 I think, I have a 6 yr single barrel, barrel proof.
7 yr Tumblin Dice is amazing
@@chipaydlette6163 Yes, I need to get some backups.
Always add in your video the price of these bourbons!
Good idea I’ll do that next time. Thanks. For the comment.
As soon as I saw the title I was like,” ogd 114”. Best mixer there is.
Amen
Going to be discontinued I’m sorry to say
@@alexgyorko6464 I think it’s marketing fluff
@@the_whiskeyshaman hope so I have a few bottles now. I’ll probably pick up a few more just in case.
Cool intro but it’s too long. 30plus seconds before the real video starts. Not hate. Just giving feedback. Keep up the good work
Thank you. Yea I need to cut it to like 10 seconds. But a buddy of mine made it for free
Pikesville is a great Rye and it’s very easy to find.
It’s harder to find in Texas. But yes very good.
Oh I’m in lol will definitely make a video for this!!
Thanks bud.
B H products are OK, just not worth the price, better choices out there for less money. Well for ME anyway 😉 Cheers 🥃 👍
@@thomasanderson2870 cheers
