  • Micronesian master navigator Ali Haleyalur is dedicated to helping outer island communities vulnerable to climate change.
Ali wants #VakaMotus for all the islands so that traditionally based sustainable sea transportation can meet urgent day-to-day needs while serving as a sacred platform for traditional voyaging practice.
Ali is from Yap, Federated States of Micronesia and the islands of Satawal and Lamotrek and the half brother of Papa Mau Piailug, credited for sparking the modern day voyaging revival across the Pacific.

I wish there is a boat like this in our outer island of Chuuk in the Northwest to continue learning the skills of navigation which is fading.
