Pratibha Singh Baghel showcases pure elegance and virtuosity as she interprets “Mere Humnafas Mere Humnawa,” one of ghazals arranged by Deepak Pandit for a unique collaboration with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Kálmán Szennai.
Sufiscore is thrilled to present this vibrant performance as part of its mission to promote new musical fusions and collaborations across genres and traditions.
This is a ghazal written by the poet Shakeel Badayuni (1916 - 1970), one of the most celebrated Urdu poets of the 20th century who also made a name for himself as a top lyricist of Indian film songs for three decades. His poetry was a great favourite of the ghazal doyenne Begum Akhtar who sang several of his ghazals, including this one, in the 1940s and 50s. In this ghazal, the poet, beseeches his beloved to not pray for his long life or well-being as the pain of unrequited love has already brought him to the threshold of death and he doesn’t wish his agony to be prolonged. He also admonishes the healer (or doctor who is attending to him) to leave him alone as any cure will only make his pain worse.

this beautiful ghazal was recorded in 1970 after shakeel sahab expired composed by great khayyam sahab sung by one Nd only begum akhtar sahiba sho recorded this gem.paying a tribute to shakeel sb which was his last written non film ghazal in his sickness in panchgani a famous hull station in maharashtra. i was.present at that time this ghazal was written here. superb and wonderful and soulful rendition by pratibha ji congrats
I assume you are a blood relative of Shakeel Badayuni (probably his son, judging by the name). He was a brilliant poet, wrote some amazing pieces. May Allah rest his soul in peace.

Shakeel sahib was one of the leading lyricist of his time.He has produced some of the best non filmi gazals & this one is undoubtedly the finest & most sought after.For the same gazal I had to purchase the complete works of Shakeel sahib( majmoe kalam).it will not be out of context to say that Panchgani is my favourite place in the whole of Maharashtra.May Allah Almighty bless his soul.

What a soothing presentation by the singer Pratibha using husky tone where required. Remember earlier Ghazal singing era where basically only two instrumental support ie Harmonium n Tabla was used. Few had 3rd Sarangi as add on .
But as music lives through its different journeys....this huge orchestra so well used that the character of ghazal remains enjoyable. Kudos❤🏅
Pratibha has that silver in her voice which, in the coming days, promises a new and more rainbow like spectrum to ghazal singing. Spectacular .....Listening to her even Shakeel Badayuni would once again fall in love with his own creation....!

Salute to Deepak Pandit and all of the team for recreating this wonderful project. As a musician I can understand how long would it have taken in terms of orchestrating both the Indian and Budapest Symphony Orchestra , composing flute in its all modes , then recording till filming it.
