It's crazy to think that Xbox went from an idea to shelves in less then 2 years. Think that they could have had GTA 3, just so many things we are finding out
It's crazy to see what everyone went through, how much they put into this project and how much they all sacrificed to get where they are today. Thank you, @Xbox
This isn't even like sad but man I'm tearing up cuz me and my brother where at that release party in 2001 and he passed away last year so bringing up alot of memories 😢
Xbox was just built different. Xbox Live (from original to 360) and the games we played on it was literally my entire childhood. I don’t think many kids would survive the lobbies of Halo or CoD on Live today. 😭😂 Thank you Microsoft and the team over at Xbox for creating so many peoples childhood’s and many many memories.
This documentary has been great. I just wish that other gaming companies were as open and about the fans enough, to provide similar content so that we may also share in their successes. There may be some apprehension for others to show so many internal discussions on how their businesses operate, even years later. But it would be nice.
The chaos during the making of xbox and halo itself rings true to the development of Halo infinite today qnd yet the campaign ended up as beautiful as halo ce
I still remember my dad getting the phone call from our local game shop (independent sole trader) that he finally had stock and had one with my name on it. We raced down there and spent literally days playing Halo & PGR. I really hope people from the OG team check these comments every now and then, and if any of you see this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the memories youve given me and the sacrifices on yourselves that you made for the world to be thrust forward in technology.
I do miss console or special game launch we had back in the days, doing the line-up, trying to be first when they open the doors, going back home play few hours going to sleep for barely 3-4 hours of sleep had to go to school or work the next day exhaust but excited to go back home to play more, I miss that nostalgia. Now its all digital and deliver at home
Funny how they went through so much to get their idea launched but was so quick to turn away rockstar and have gta be an exclusive…biggest oof so far in this series for them
I wanted an Xbox One for years, I finally got an Xbox One X this year in February and I've played everyday since. What can I say? I'm an Xbox guy now 🤷♂️
Before I thought these guys were just sitting on their desks and doing their code things flying on different countries enjoying their lives and earning big amounts of money. But seeing this documentary proves how big their responsibilities are and it's not just all fun and they deserve every credit for what they have done. All these efforts makes me want to support xbox all the way. Thankyou XBOX
So proud of Xbox for getting this console done. I’ll never forget Christmas morning of 2002. I was 13 years old, opening my very own Xbox. That console made my teenage years some of the most fun years of my life. Halo, KOTOR 1&2, battlefront 1&2, Fable, Morrowind, Jade Empire, LAN parties with 20 of my closest friends. Best years of my life.
Remember me and my brother saving up and getting the OG Xbox with the clone wars bundle disc and Tony Hawk PS2X shortly after, still my fondest memories
I bought an Xbox when my PS2 broke and I shipped it off. I thought "This Halo game looks like it might be ok" and bought it with it. I was blown away. Also I wear XXL gloves, I loved the Duke.
I owned ps1 & ps2 at that time... But morrowind was in xbox. So i bought xbox just for that game. Best purchase of my life. Halo, Dead or alive 3, star wars kotor are all great titles.
Fun fact: the launch of Xbox was also the night Seamus Blackley proposed to his wife as Bill Gates was holding his engagement ring for him, referenced in the G4 Icons documentary
Different times, I remember someone bringing it around and actually being disappointed it wasn't another game that had just came out (can't remember which now) - but then when I saw it in action...😲 😲 😲
Watching these videos are making me enjoy the Xbox brand. I got the gamecube first. I got the 360 in 2007. I didn’t buy the OG xbox tell 2008. But alway !!!!!!! Went to my friends house they had the OG xbox fable doom 3 halo1-2 max pain 1-2 gta San
I remember my mom surprised my younger brother and me with an Xbox that came bundled with Star Wars The Clone Wars and Tetris. From that moment we both became fans of Xbox especially with Halo when it launched.
YES! That's the same exact bundle Xbox I got also. I still love The Clone Wars to this day thanks to nostalgia and SO happy they added during the last round of backward compatibility.
So much respect for Xbox. We always look at the company and sometimes forget about ALL the people involved. Hard work and dedication. Thank you for your blood sweat and tears.
I was playing Xbox in Iraq in 2004, while receiving mortar fire. I remember saying to myself, "If it's my time, it's my time. I'm playing Halo 2 right now, I don't have time to die!"
Xbox team. I’m glad to see the story of the very beginning. We want the game's developers to give their best like always to show the power of the hardware of Xbox.
The first game of (Gears of War) and (CoD) playing with people and friends from all parts of the world was fun. ...man, I miss those all nighter gaming days. =)
2001 christmas, 10 year old me opening my xbox. Me,, my bro, 4 cousins from the US visiting we played halo for 30 straight hours last 2 pass the controller and new players use the duke controller.... my skill lead to two missing front teeth thanks to the duke. Great times would never change
If only Xbox would add system level gyro aiming, mapping mouse to gyro like Steam offers, it would revolutionize console gaming. Such an easy way to bring mouse level accuracy to consoles and yet they don’t even put gyroscopes and accelerometers in their controller.
I was only 9 when this came out and i can still remember the day i went with my older brother to his friends house and his younger brother about my age had the the xbox with halo just finishing the first mission and when you stepped off the escape shuttle just blew my mind, and have bought every xbox and halo since, well i had my parents get me the first xbox and 360 of course lol
Glad I've owned the Series X on launch. Although nothing big happened this year on the platform, this year's got interesting. These videos and new games from backwards compatibility I needed the most.
hearing this story makes you really appreciate the work that goes into the console.
Watching it made me really miss my original Xbox
