One of the best love songs ever written. My wife left me in 2020 during Covid season. It was one of the hardest years of my life. This song still brings me to tears.

This song is simply a masterpiece. Bono is so heart wrenching while singing this song, and you can touch the pain in every word he says. It's overwhelming and no one can override it.🌟❤
What fascinates me about Bono's lyrics on songs like this is his insight. A stable marriage from a pretty young age that still stands.
He seemingly hasn't experienced (I could be wrong) the heartbreak of love loss. Not discounting his parental loss BTW but his lyrics point to experiences beyond his own.

@@thesighcompany Something lurking beneath the surface of this song is religious struggle. It is full of allusions to Jesus and the crucifixion. Spiritual angst can be as powerful of a motivation as romantic angst, and Bono's writing is full of both.

This is such a beautifully haunting song.
The truth is that U2 has truly tapped into the art of music creation and beautiful words with harmony. Even in 1984, they were tapping into the art like no other bands has ever done.
The lyrics are words of expression that speak about the world we live in now and events happening now and are about to come to fruition.
U2, u are all amazing. An orchestra of resonance and vibration that impart love, unity, and full expression and reception of incredible emotions to awaken our hearts. Thank you your music is a form of unconditional love

Eat your heart out, Bon Jovi and The Police, "With Or Without You" is the DEFINITIVE Top 40 rock song of the mid 80's. I've always felt that "Beautiful Day" masterfully echoes how WOWY builds from a hushed, restrained beginning, to a soaring, expressive middle, to a cathartic comedown release at the end. And the conflict between what is known to be bad versus how good that "badness" makes one feel is timeless. Heck, I've done my fair share of pining for the unattainable through the years (usually for a person I can't live with or without, oddly enough) and this was/is the theme song for each of those moments.
Please don’t compare the Police to Bon Jovi 😒. They are not on the same level.
Everything is subjective. I listen BJ, U2 and few more bands. I wouldn't even compare. Comparing the taste is a fools game.

All I Want is You is one of their greatest...a definite "hidden gem" off of R&H

Yeah!!! we just pass "The Unforgettable Fire" classic era, & now we are on the brilliant "The Joshua Tree" era, and i really expected the "Spanish Eyes" (official video), and the HD versions of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", "Red Hill Mining Town", & "Where The Streets Have No Name".
And soon after this all, i expected anxiously the visual journey continuation of U2 brilliant discography + Music Videos/Singles, passing by the critical underrated "Rattle And Hum" to the revolutionary, crazy, haunted, happy, introspective & beautiful 90's, and yeah i'm included the underrated masterpiece that is "Pop" to this description of U2 in the 90's.
& (Official music videos) from movies, like "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill, Me" the sad, passionate & beautiful "The Hands That Built America"., the music video from the extraordinary single "Electrical Storm" of "The Best Of 1990-2000" (2002), and an HD version of the brilliant music video from the extremely beautiful song "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own".
And the video of "Angel Of Harlem", don't forget this one, hahaha!!!!

I like this video better than the original release. Darker and edgier. This video more fits what the song is. It's a miracle that this became a pop song. I think the released video played a big part in that.
