Had a similar experience whilst riding across the Brecon Beacons with my brother who came off his MTB and had a suspected broken collarbone . It may not seem it at the time but experiences like this definitely make you stronger and definitely cement friendships. Speedy recovery Dan. and awesome work Dan raising the alarm and getting the help he needed.
OMG!!! A beaut video, was just enjoying it, lying on the sofa with a glass of wine and BANG!!! GET WELL SOON DAN!! I am so sorry to hear about your tumble.. all the very best and you have a slave in DanMan of course!! Look forward to hearing about your recovery :-)
Great coverage of what was a challenging adventure. Dan, hats off to you for supporting Dan through ascents with him having the heavier bike. But also for having the balls to vlog while waiting to be rescued with a broken hip.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Dan , so gutted to watch the ending of this video , but thankfully you had such good people to look after you and top friend with you to support you after , at least you done it coming into the UK winter , hope you get to complete the ride in years to come
Glad to hear Dan is gonna be okay. On a positive, loved the video, couldn't wait to get home from work when I saw it on my feed. For me it was brilliant to see Lanzarote in the daylight through your journey, those views down to La Graciosa (bicycle island) where all under cover the darkness for me and a howling sidewind - some walking was involved until I snapped myself out of it. I was disappointed not to see the "off-road scramble big-boulder climb upward then sharp downhill hike-bit"; in darkness it was a shocker. Remember the washboard bit of Fventura well - once you get past that it was absolutely spectacular - and those cliff side views along the rock path 🏝 .. there's no words. And what can I say about Gran Canaria, by far it was the toughest island of the trip for me, glad to see I was not the only one bricking it on the descents - I agonised riding the line next to the sheer drops - often opting to walk. You'll be pleased to know - they did continue all the way down to sea level (!) as I saw the ferries going back and forth to Tenerife! Aside from the fall I hope you both enjoyed the GranGuanche experience and who knows may you will return in future and complete the Tenerife leg - a whole another level of beauty. Longest descent in Europe on Tenerife. 👍
It might be weird to say it, but seeing people cope with mishaps/accidents/disasters is not bad. It's real life and we viewers could easily find ourselves in positions like this. And now we are better prepared, so thank you for this video and recover well, Bike-fit Dan.
So glad that Dan is doing ok, speedy recovery!! If you do decide to do another video I have so many questions; How did you manage to get a phone signal and was it difficult to convey your location to the Spanish emergency services? What did you do with the bikes and how did you get your bike boxes back??
Gutted for you both even if you’re not disappointed. Known Dan quite a while, last time I saw him he told me this was coming up so I’ve been waiting for the upload Good news though, I wanted a pair of new shoes so here’s that last excuse I need to buy.
Me too - I've got a bike fit this weekend which was meant to be with Dan and when I saw the email coming through I suspect a fall. Glad to hear it's nothing mega serious - wishing well Dan on the recover.
Wow, unfortunate for you guys but I’m sure you enjoyed the rest of the trip, you’ll have to think of something different maybe for 2025. I’ve been there with the hip but with the right recovery you can get over anything
Thanks everyone for the kind words!! 🙏🙏❤️
Please get this video to 1million views so Dan doesn’t hate me as much for crashing 😬😬
Wishing you a speedy recovery Dan

Wow, horrible ending ,thanks to the emergency services and medical teams for sorting Dan out.

Life lived without any risk is a life not lived at all. Shit happens when you push the boundaries…..
Exactly :)
