  • This ferry the last of its kind still operating during the summer months. Easter - October. Built in 1969, the last manualling operated turntable ferry in the world.

      Hi Jason , they had many ferries like this operating around the west coast of Scotland,before bridges were built in the 1960’s . Could hold up to 6 cars then , but these days with cars a lot bigger the ferry takes just 4 cars . About a 5 minute crossing. This is a bit of a remote area of Scotland.

      @@standrewpics I did a bit of Googling and wiki has a page on it, very interesting reading as when the bridges are out they are relied upon, one place it was used saved over 100 mile road trip to get to the other side.

    Registered port Fraserburgh. Her sister Glen Duror was built there and for convenience the Ballachulish Ferry Company registered all their ferries there.
