Brings back memories when I installed my SPOD years ago. Had to slightly modified mine since I had a center console between my windshield and roll bar. Makes everything so much easier with SPOD, a bit expensive though. Now they are other manufacturers that cost a fraction for what the SPOD charges, wish I had waited just a bit longer. Thanks for sharing the rockers.
That's why I made my own Spod. Dual led switches (CH4x4) 10 switches and 5 of them have 16 mode strobe functions.(had to blow my own horn, just had to lol) It is awesome they are willing to upgrade your setup, you don't see good customer service that often anymore. Great video as always!
Enjoy your videos. I had a 2009 Rubicon and recently purchased a 2017 JKU Recon. I learned from my previous Jeep and plan on building my current one up step by step until I'm dead! Your comments/tutorials are appreciated. New Sub
Another great video. Even though I didn't have accessories for one the sPOD was one of the first purchases I made for my JK. I have the dual LED version and having the option for lights on/off is a great feature.
That was supposed to be my mod this month, but I lifted my jeep instead, couldn't take the rake my winch caused to the front. Thanks for the vid as always. And those OTRATTW switches are sick!
Another great review Brad. I really appreciate your honest likes and dislikes about things. Good advice on duel LED's. I have just increased my wish list. You keep costing me money my friend! LOL
Thanks Brad! I was going back and forth between SPOD, Painless, and SFZ Central Command. This video coupled with your JK Install video with SDJC sealed the deal. SPOD Dual Lit with custom rockers ordered!
If you still have the single LED version of this, you could try flipping your rearview mirror over so that the useless "map" lights are pointed up and that might help shine some light on them. This also changes your view - which doesn't matter if you have larger tires but quick tip for others who don't. :)
I also went with the single LED and now wish I had gone with dual LED. If you haven't ordered one yet do yourself a favor and get the dual LED setup then you won't be taking it apart to send back for the upgrade.
Look for clear removable window caulk at the hardware store...put that over the openings where your wires come in to keep the dust out. Then just peel it off when u need to. Test in a nearby area to make sure the temperatures are ok.
Hey Brad, When you order a new S-Pod for the Cherokee, you can probably order the double LED one and swap out the switch unit with the one in the JKU and put the single LED version in the Cherokee. I bet the main unit doesn't need to be changed out, just the part you mount inside the Jeep. It's probably just standard rocker switches too, you can probably just order replacement ones from OTRATTW and swap them out yourself for double LED too. =) Also, can you please do a review video on your winch? I have one coming today and am curious if you've had any issues since switching to the synth line, etc. I ordered mine with teh synth line already installed. Thanks, love all your videos!!!
Very good review. I have the SPOD with the LCD touchscreen on my JK and I really like it. I wished I had installed this product at the beginning of my build. Would have made wiring a lot simpler.
Brad, I owe you overdue congratulations on your retirement from military service. I personally thank you for your service. Perfect timing on the video. I plan on making some major purchases with my refund check from Uncle Sam, the SPOD being one of them, now I'll be adding the rocker's as well. I am shocked however that the unit allows that much dust intrusion. If SPOD is going to upgrade you to the dual light setup, then you need to take them up on their offer. In the military, they often took about complacency...I think I made my point. :0) Looking forward to project XJ Overland. I'm assuming a SPOD will be in store for that vehicle as well. Semper Fi
hey have you seen the new SPOD? with the 8 switches and a touch screen option? They took it to the next level. You can run more than one pod from the screen it's really cool I helped a friend install his.
It is very similar except the spod is more advanced. My pillar rocker is basically just switches. I had to run all of the relays and stuff. The Spod is a complete system that is basically ready for connecting to your accessories. It has some cool features too like being able to auto switch off to conserve you battery and allows up to 8 switches! Another item on the list I am saving up for LOL!
My only gripe with the location of your rocker switch panel is, if you use either a safari or bikini top, do you not lose the ability to run a strap through the hoop on the windshield frame?
The "footman's loop" that is used is still there. As it's actually used for the hard top latch you see just above the switch pack when the hard top is installed. When the hard top is removed the loop is still accessible. Thus the bikini top strap can still be used.
TrailRecon they now send a gasket that works great I'm going to do a video this week on it and I have the dual source unit so it's a bit more then the single
Not knowing how the switch unit is built, would it be possible to buy the dual LED switches (from OTRATTW for example) and swap them out yourself? Or is everything soldered in the unit?
I am looking into an S Pod for my XJ. I'm not sure what unit I need. I do have a switch panel that will replace the XJ ash tray in the center console. The switch panel has 30 inch numbered wires already connected. I have not yet heard back from S Pod as to what unit to get as I do not need a switch panel. Any suggestions?
I'd be curious to know what SPOD tells you and what you you do end up doing. I was thinking about going with the ashtray panel as well, but I haven't convinced myself 100% yet that I'm going to use an SPOD in the XJ.
I will let you know what I find out. The ashtray panel has 7 switches and from what I have seen, SPOD has 6. I have a 50 inch curved light bar and 4 smaller lights to install and will install a winch, air locker and compressor when the budget allows. I'll need those switches.
Curious how you are liking this set up now still several years later? My JKU came with this same set up you have (except mine does light up the rockers in the on/off position). I've been looking at the LCD models, but the SPODs are so expensive. I've seen others that are much cheaper and even water proof (bleepingjeep youtube channel). What are you still rocking this set up or have you upgraded to LCD? Thanks for the great content Doc.... Semper Fi.
When I installed my Eaton E-Lockers I also installed a pair of Contura V's from OTRATTW. I have the dual led version that have the lower light. These switches were super easy to install and wire myself. I wonder if you can do the same yourself, as opposed to sending it off to Spod? As the wiring is actually rather easy. On top of that while doing the wiring, I spliced into my dash lights for the lower indicator lights. This way I not only have indicator lights when my dash lights are on, they also dim with the dash lights. I wonder how much it would take to wire up a breakout wire and lead to connect the dash lights to the the Spod switch pack?
Hi everyone, I have a question, does this SPOD support a whole new audio system with an amplifier? thank you very much for your attention. best regards
Just get a caulk gun and tube of 100% silicon and seal those S-POD holes. It will water proof as well, and you can probably water proof the entire unti under the hood.

DIY is the way to go if you got the skills for sure! Thanks!

I have the dual LED version and having the option for lights on/off is a great feature.
Thank you! If you know you will be adding a lot of accessories, it is a great first modification.
That was supposed to be my mod this month, but I lifted my jeep instead, couldn't take the rake my winch caused to the front. Thanks for the vid as always. And those OTRATTW switches are sick!
LOL! I am always debating what my next mod is... can't go wrong with lifting it! Love the new rockers. Thanks!
Another great review Brad. I really appreciate your honest likes and dislikes about things. Good advice on duel LED's.
I have just increased my wish list. You keep costing me money my friend! LOL
Don't pin your Jeep modification addiction on me! LOL! Thanks!
Thanks Brad! I was going back and forth between SPOD, Painless, and SFZ Central Command. This video coupled with your JK Install video with SDJC sealed the deal. SPOD Dual Lit with custom rockers ordered!
for a smaller RUclips channel you put out amazing content man!
Appreciate it! Thank you!!
TrailRecon no problem! came to your videos from the Cherokee build series you have going. I also have a decently built Cherokee.
Lot's more to come in the XJ build! Thanks for following along!
@@TrailRecon Can't believe you guys were a 'smaller' RUclips Channel just 3 years ago. Well done Brad! Keep it up!
Had no idea you could replace the rocker switches like that awesome video thank you

Awesome vid my man, I am actually looking to do this upgrade. Keep the vids coming love your channel.
It's a great upgrade and in my opinion, worth it! Thank you!
I also went with the single LED and now wish I had gone with dual LED. If you haven't ordered one yet do yourself a favor and get the dual LED setup then you won't be taking it apart to send back for the upgrade.
why whats the advantage to the dual LED? I mean I understand the facts it helps you see at night but for and extra $100!?
i bought the rough country mlc-6 200 new with dual leds
FlubahDub
Because it looks better at night when you're fumbling for the right switch.

My military brother from another mother!.!.!. This is my next upgrade. I could really use your help with a few things
just ordered mine tonight, looking forward to hooking it and the lights up!!
does the spod stay on while the jeep is off?
Hey Brad,
When you order a new S-Pod for the Cherokee, you can probably order the double LED one and swap out the switch unit with the one in the JKU and put the single LED version in the Cherokee. I bet the main unit doesn't need to be changed out, just the part you mount inside the Jeep. It's probably just standard rocker switches too, you can probably just order replacement ones from OTRATTW and swap them out yourself for double LED too. =)

You can close those cable holes with silicon and avoid some dust, thank you for the video.
I love long use review. Goes beyond just the emotion.and are more reliable
Really helpful video, just what I was looking for. Just subscribed so looking forward to watching some others.
excellent video - I wish you a good weekend and a lot of views
Apply some silicone sealant around the wire holes. You can get some clear silicone sealant at Lowes or Home Depot.
Very good review. I have the SPOD with the LCD touchscreen on my JK and I really like it. I wished I had installed this product at the beginning of my build. Would have made wiring a lot simpler.
LCD is a nice option! Thanks for the comments!
Love the Beer Rocker !!!!
haha :D
Good info, thanks Brad!
Thank you!
Have you checked Switch Pros? I run that and I love the fact that is a total sealed unit
I had not heard of them, but just check out there web site. Looks like a great product, thanks for sharing!

Thank you! You're right, I need to make the upgrade and quit procrastinating. Oorah!
Great video, do you've a video on how to install a dual batteries with full description? Thanks
I hope to install one on my rig in the coming months! Thanks!
hey have you seen the new SPOD? with the 8 switches and a touch screen option? They took it to the next level. You can run more than one pod from the screen it's really cool I helped a friend install his.
The newer version is very cool and has some really nice options!
Awesome switches! I need an spod!
Me too! lol
It's a great upgrade!

they are so easy to wire future items in later!
Yes, to find out they make a Universal unit is good news because I'm looking at using an Ammo can to make My Own version for My Wj
thanks for the tip ill get the duel led
Glad you found it helpful. The dual is a good choice. Thanks!
My only gripe with the location of your rocker switch panel is, if you use either a safari or bikini top, do you not lose the ability to run a strap through the hoop on the windshield frame?

Thank you!
has SPOD gotten back to you about the sealing of the relay box or anything to help?
I never reached out to them about that issue specifically. Thanks!
TrailRecon they now send a gasket that works great I'm going to do a video this week on it and I have the dual source unit so it's a bit more then the single
Love the video- Great content
I see those 69's in the background there MC, good choice!
LOL! Someone was being observant!
That mounting bracket is in the same place as my Metalcloak evap canister relocate bracket.
Not knowing how the switch unit is built, would it be possible to buy the dual LED switches (from OTRATTW for example) and swap them out yourself? Or is everything soldered in the unit?
I think the switches in there are standard and it might be possible to swap them out... worth taking a closer look at. Thanks!
I pressure washing the engine bay? If dust can get in it's a good bet water will. Is there a warning about not getting it wet?
Mine bay needs a good scrubbing for sure. I would cover the SPOD in plastic if pressure washing.
Walter Sigona I wouldn't just go pressure washing inside it but you can just run a hose over it
can you hot glue the air holes in the SPOD.?
I am looking into an S Pod for my XJ. I'm not sure what unit I need. I do have a switch panel that will replace the XJ ash tray in the center console. Sounds like some great accessories going on your rig! One thing to note, you won't be able to run a winch through your SPOD, the amp draw is to great.
Thank you, I just read up on that.
Hey Brad does having all those accessories running through the Spod kill your battery?
Why did you change from this "Waterproof Fuse Relay Box (WFRB) Install and Review "
Curious how you are liking this set up now still several years later? My JKU came with this same set up you have (except mine does light up the rockers in the on/off position). Would love to see the xj install vid of the spod
It's something I'm going to do for sure, just need to figure out the best fitment.
It is so good to see someone with common sense and intelligence work on a Jeep and not wire something to a battery for a change!
odd question do these have the ability of having a strobe function?
So many switches on otratw. Not sure which one work for the SPOD
I don't have an overhead rocket switch panel, haven't seen one before is this something new?
Take a look on the Swichpro 9100 :)
Nice video
great vid :-)
Thank you!

Does the panel get in the way of the Freedom Latch?
Can u do that with the rough country mlc6??
bleepinjeep can show how to make a low buget one using a fuse box
Hi everyone, I have a question, does this SPOD support a whole new audio system with an amplifier? thank you very much for your attention. best regards
Great vids, what video editing software are you using?
Using Final Cut Pro and still learning all it's capabilities. Thanks!
Wish they made them for the yj
Did you run the ARB compressor off of the sPod?
Sure did!
Nice
Do you have your CB hooked up to your spod
Yes, but not required if you just want to tap into a power wire that is live when the ignition is on. Just was easy for me to do it this way.
TrailRecon I ran mine straight to the battery but was considering running to my Spod
Rough country comes with double LED!
Just get a caulk gun and tube of 100% silicon and seal those S-POD holes. It will water proof as well, and you can probably water proof the entire unti under the hood.
tbh I think the Rough Country pod is cheaper for the exact same product, and has the double LED
I went with switch pro. Much more customization and cleaner look.
new to channel and new to jeep world
just got me a 2017 jku what is the propose/benefits of this Spod thing
noob alert sorry lol
can this work on any car?
I could be wrong, but I think your S POD is dirty because you actually use it in the desert and not for just going to the mall.
I mean you use it for it's intended purpose. Thanks for the idea. Toyota guy here I'm gonna see what they have for me.
wow 95$ to upgrade!
