    Man this is such a great distillation of two of the most enigmatic figures of ancient Greek philosophy! It took me two videos and 26 minutes total to cover Heraclitus and Parmenides, but your video is a perfect summary!

      @Lord Vader There's no way of answering this to any acceptable depth here in a comment, and I'm planning on making a video on Epicureanism and one on Stoicism this summer, so check those out for more details, but in short:
      There is a lot of overlap in the way both of these theories see the world, and they are both much more than their central/most popular tenets, which are admittedly antithetical. But embracing the paradox of opposites being true at the same time is a key Heraclitean attitude, so I went with it :)

      Cody do you think of doing videos about You? (Like those lifestyle youtubers? Vlog thingy) I'm not asking you to "be mainstream" or anything. I'm genuinely interested to see... like how you carry yourself daily
      And yes I do wonder if you do lifestyle, simple, easy to consume videos, how it gonna turn out? You do seem to have it all to attract views

      Hey, I might try it if these videos don't gain any traction or maybe just for fun sometime, but I work during the day, so a vlog would be quite boring. If I can start making money off this channel and do it full time, then definitely I'll make some videos that share a little more about my life.

    Yo but the becoming logic is straight up fire. I mean the other guy says shit about what exists and what is, but at the end of the day it all BECAME In supernovae through the eons. I stand with poo-pile dog-mauled bro on this one

    • @Alan_Jozua
      @Alan_Jozua 2 года назад

      I think they’re both right, but they’re just pointing to different things. The forms which matter take are always in a state of change and becoming. But the matter itself, all the matter that is in the universe has always existed. The universe is in a constant state of being, but the forms it takes constantly change and evolve.

    • @franz_makes_art403
      @franz_makes_art403 2 года назад

      @@Alan_Jozua fact is that for Parmenides, that would not be change either, in fact, for something that exists to change, means it there something it can change INTO. If something that exists changes into something else, there is something different to existence, which is non-existence, which has already been proven not to exist. So everything exists in the same way, has always been and will always be just the same, existence.

    The Presocratics have better one-liners than Henny Youngman. Take my philosophy, please! [BA-BOOM!]
    Neither is there more Being here or less Being there but it is all together. [Parmenides]
    You can and cannot step into the same river twice. [Heraclitus]
    Wretches, utter wretches, keep your hands off beans! [Empedocles, rumored to be the inspiration of "Blazing Saddles"]
    A woman must not practice argument: this is dreadful! [Democritus Of Abdura]
    Everything is water, with just a hint of Jack Daniels. [Thales' brother-in-law]
    _Ancilla To The Presocratic Philosophers_-Kathleen Freeman; virtually all fragments, w/virtually no commentary; amusing, light summer reading, best w/a wine spritzer]
