To me the whole concept of flavourlessness is bizarre - just, why? I lost my sense of taste with COVID and it was awful not being able to appreciate flavour.
Idk about this from a covid perspective, but as someone that loves bland food and the taste of water, I find the idea of this candy to be very appetizing. Although, I'd worry about this being more addicting than regular candy for me cause it's still probably made with chalk full of sugar... probably wouldn't be healthy snacking on too many of them, eh? Also, just to clarify, I do love salty, umami, and spicy as well, but bland just sometimes hits the spot.
Except sugar free things that taste sweet can trigger an insulin response without the actual sugar to follow, wthich is almost worse. I wonder what the effect of something like this would be, if they don’t taste sweet…
Problem with some sugar-free things is the laxative effects they can cause, I've tried a few over the years and, yeesh, re-enacting a scene from Dumb and Dumber was not fun........ :S
@@lemonadewithstrawberriesspoiler alert, it's not. Studies are mixed on the topic and some more recent alternative sweeteners (erythritol, allulose) have been found to *improve* insulin sensitivity.
@@lemonadewithstrawberries Yes. There’s a very strong ‘soda’ lobby in the US, they do their best to muddy the waters. European studies have shown mixed results as to which (diet vs sugary) are worse in the long run. It looks like it doesn’t make any difference for type one, but in type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance, the diet seems to be worse. I just looked it up, and the latest studies show that in addition to insulin spikes, diet drinks may also affect the gut microbiome, further affecting nutritional uptake, which can exacerbate the whole problem.
One time I was given some candies, unlabeled, that were clear and had no flavor, and I was utterly bemused. I actually find bland food to be very tasty. Don't get me wrong, I also love salty, umami, and spicy, but bland sometimes just hits the spot. Heck, I even love water of varying texture/sensation: bottled water, hot water, sparkling water, raindrop cake with no sugar, etc.
@@Becca_MS-fighter Most modern gums are based on a synthetic equivalent, a rubbery material called polyisobutylene that's also used in the manufacture of inner tubes. Polyisobutylene is mixed with plasticisers and materials - all food grade - to make the gum mixture chewable.
Ah yes, the Sanrio store, something I'm sure we're all familiar with. No context needed there. 😂 As someone who's had a chronic cough for around 14 years, I'd love affordable, flavorless cough drops. I'd so tired of being overwhelmed by the same flavors. Worst part is that the brand of drops I prefer are only menthol locally and I _hate_ menthol.
Could be helpful for people like me with acid reflux, saliva helps neutralize the acid in your stomach, which is why they say chewing gum helps, but sometimes i dont always feel like tasting or chewing gum, especially after eating lol

I don’t always chew gums but when I do I chew 🇯🇵gums
Oh my god I need these.
emmy you HAVE to try to make rustic bread that u cook in a dutch oven. so easy no kneading easiest bread and absolutely delicious i think you’d love it
I'm interested! Is there a video here on RUclips you have in mind?
@@rafaelchapadeiro8171 i followed laura in the kitchens recipe! try it out you won’t regret it
Fusen gum is smooth. I chewed that as a kid.
My grandma used to give me some Elah (toffee) Rossana (hard filled candy) and Club (hard mentholated candy) 👏💖🍬
Wow!! I learn so many things here
Oral fidget spinner, lol! 🤣
The one reason I don't and haven't chewed gum..once the flavor is gone, I just don't feel like chewing on something that feels like rubber. Yuck. I did like bubble gum to a point. at least you could blow bubbles with it, but still tasted nasty with no flavor.)
I clicked the link to check out Paul's page& it says it's not available! Was something spelled wrong or something?
I get the idea for no calorie treats. But no taste? That is very odd.
I'm someone that not only loves bland food, but also the taste of water, so this actually sounds very appetizing to me, haha...
I don’t know what I expected, but yeah this really is a taste test of flavorless candy
I love learning something new every time 😊
i just wanna know how they figured this recipe out
Gonna go check out Lawson tomorrow!
To me the whole concept of flavourlessness is bizarre - just, why? I lost my sense of taste with COVID and it was awful not being able to appreciate flavour.
I agree. It sounds a bit re-traumatizing to me.
@@SmartyPoohBearthis is so unusual and interesting. I love how different all humans are!
The link to Paul's RUclips channel doesn't seem correct or is not working for me on the phone :(
We need more sugar free recipes we can enjoy I was diagnosed with pre diabetes so it’s a huge turn of cards for me😔💔
Except sugar free things that taste sweet can trigger an insulin response without the actual sugar to follow, wthich is almost worse. I wonder what the effect of something like this would be, if they don’t taste sweet…
@@karenneill9109 are you sure that's a thing?
I'd never heard of anything like that, they didn't have anything written on them (the packaging did not look like what you showed in this video, and the candies were more clear). I also believe it was before 2020 but I might be wrong. I have always wondered what was the deal with that.
It took them 6 months to develop it? I think they didn't finish 🤣
Personally, I wouldn't taste something unless it taste good! Maybe that's why I grew up fat?
I actually find bland food to be very tasty. Don't get me wrong, I also love salty, umami, and spicy, but bland sometimes just hits the spot. Heck, I even love water of varying texture/sensation: bottled water, hot water, sparkling water, raindrop cake with no sugar, etc.
Do you know if the gum is made of gum or plastic?
@@Becca_MS-fighter Most modern gums are based on a synthetic equivalent, a rubbery material called polyisobutylene that's also used in the manufacture of inner tubes. Polyisobutylene is mixed with plasticisers and materials - all food grade - to make the gum mixture chewable.
Hi Emmy always love your content
Thanks. 😊
Ah yes, the Sanrio store, something I'm sure we're all familiar with. No context needed there. 😂
As someone who's had a chronic cough for around 14 years, I'd love affordable, flavorless cough drops. I'd so tired of being overwhelmed by the same flavors. Worst part is that the brand of drops I prefer are only menthol locally and I _hate_ menthol.
Is it weird to want to eat something rubbery? Something that squeaks as it rubs against the teeth and snaps apart as you chew it, like sinus
Remarkably, Emmy is cuter than the Fox 😂❤️
Could be helpful for people like me with acid reflux, saliva helps neutralize the acid in your stomach, which is why they say chewing gum helps, but sometimes i dont always feel like tasting or chewing gum, especially after eating lol
This video is utterly tasteless (the gum not the hostess). 😆 Another fun video! Always entertaining and informative.
It is made of sugar, it doesn't have to be sweet enough but sugar is just the molecular structure the deal
imagine getting these candies not knowing what they were durring covid and then thinking you actually have covid because you can’t taste anything 😂
The Statue of David one, it made me think that they would be a small package........... :P
Try making cornstarch blocks, Emmy.
Hi Emmy can you try whipped honey?
Grat to hear your totally recovered from covid I'm still having issues. And I've had covid 4 times take care Debora Atkins
❤ Simply Delicious ❤
“Activate salivary glands.” :P
💦💦💦
yay for paul!
How is it candy if it’s not sweet?
Thus is so cool i want them
"it doesn't taste or feel like you're chewing on something alien, like a piece of plastic" me, literally chewing on a piece of plastic right now: ...
Technically the gum wrapper is the usa form of a disposal paper
Maybe the candy was designed for people who had no sense of taste due to having Covid, and might just have helped with loosening the sputum when you coughed?
