A perfect example why the push to go to a total cashless society is so dangerous.
Technology is not flawless.
Yep that would be catastrophic
yet democrats are promoting cashless to be capable of such CONTROL. never trust such democrats to control anything affecting actual humans
They're preparing for something in November - wink wink.
Indeed
It's about control.

This global internet outage is insane! All airlines grounded and i was stock the airport and even banks, media, and offices from the U.S. to Australia. How can CrowdStrike have such a monopoly that could help restore such a massive amount of tech?
It's pretty concerning. If they can fix this, what other control do they have over our infrastructure? or are we truly in the matrix?
Right? It makes you think about the stability of our systems. But hey, I barely spend time online. When I checked my portfolio with Desiree Ruth Hoffman, we were still in the greens. That’s been the case for 16 months straight!
Wow, really? I've seen the name Desiree Ruth Hoffman before but can't figure out where.
Probably from her forecast on Nvidia before the pump. But how are you in the greens with all the fluctuations due to the election and everything else? Can you share her strategy?
Honestly, just schedule a call with her. She has vast knowledge in finance and really knows how to navigate these times. I handed over my portfolio to her so I can focus on my family. These days, things just get scarier and scarier.
*Your explanations are clear and straight forward It's always a honor to have you here as a mentor, I appreciate you for the time being spent to educate us financially. Regardless of how bad it gets the economy, I still makeover $28K every single week. I truly value Laura, and her helpful guides*

Isn’t this what companies pay millions and millions of dollars to Crowdstrike to keep from happening?
Crowdstrike is for countering security vulnerabilities, not their own outages.
It wouldn't have happened if companies chose NOT to rely on proprietary software. You can't trust something that keeps themselves hidden from you. But of course, open-source is communist because Bill Gates said so. Capitalist hypocrisy.

This is why WE cannot Allow ONE SYSTEM to run all.
One system doesn't run all, at least not in an actual sense. The majority of companies have decided to depend on a technological solution that requires significant redundancy against failure to be used without investing in said redundancy. If those companies had fail-over backups NOT based on Windows (or backup systems that did NOT receive the update until it was demonstrated the update wasn't crap), there would not have been a problem.

Yeah, centralization of power is bad. I seem to remember people had a saying about not putting all the eggs in one basket. What ever happened to that nugget of wisdom?
@@DenseGrowthOfTrees They decided to get richer.
Two issues I guess :
1. incompetent bureaucrats lead the show, they take decisions based on how much they can made (for themselves), not how good it could be for the company they are supposed to serve,
2. redundancies, checks, regular drills, etc cost money "for nothing" because everything's fine and will always be fine, go back to point 1 !
People always take everything for granted, so it leads to make things that just need to be serviced regularly to work start failing one after another till the point of in fact, people learn nothing is NEVER granted ! Perfect example of why we should look into Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia and others. WAY to reliant on those systems.
As a former IT Professional, I am not surprised that this occurred and it will happen again. Corporate management thinks IT security requires hitting the "Easy Button" and everything just works. Corporate management outsourced IT staff, eliminated test environments, and prefers to push updates out in it's entirety. This would have been avoided if they rolled out the update to a limited amount of systems to see the results in a real-time environment. IT Professionals know to turn off updates to prevent this from effecting your systems.
Yup. We had sandbox environments for this but these companies want to cut cost and speed up production. Now its biting them in the butt.
Quantity over quality
Totally agree. I was in I.T. Networking / Security for more than 42 years. Either support your I.T. staff with the appropriate skills or your business will continue to suffer outages. The push to blindly have the latest patches, Security Updates installed, can help cause what happened. If possible get appropriate staff to review the risks or at least have alternative systems in place if the above happens. Regularly test those systems and report on the issues that did occur. Errors faults and failures will probably occur thats not a bad thing it helps show what needs to be investigated and if possible fixed. If it cant be fixed determine a work around. The so called modern trendy methods that so many company Managers have adopted only encourage Global failures. The staff in your company are your strength encourage them to care and your company may just have a chance of surviving the next Global Outage. Put all your eggs in one basket and you will suffer the consequences.

Global! Security ? Reminder: Our data traveling outside the USA. Keep in mind that they share all the information that we have in America to hackers. Who has this power? Our sleepy security leaders.
The fear is understandable, however all these companies dropping Crowdstrike is very short-sighted. It will take massive amounts of money, time, and resources to vet out a new company. They have to research, license, PoC (Proof of Concept), test/validate, implement and train on the new solution. That is assuming the first one they try is compatible, they may need to do it a few times to find one that meets all their requirements. For large corporations, you could be talking about millions or tens of millions of dollars. You just need to turn off automatic updates, and have a dev/test environment. That is standard practice.
You touched the tip of the iceberg. There's much more layers of fault here and cheapness of IT departments of all companies. SaaS and single point of failure and no disaster recovery plan in place. I call this "When a bug turns into a virus."
That sounds like an illegal monopoly. They should be investigated. No one should have that much power. Not ever...

What happened with Crowdstrike is one of the worst cases possible.
The solution is to stop using closed-source proprietary software. None of this would've happened if the systems were running under Linux.
We also need to pass laws that force computer manufacturers to open-source device firmware, and to specify how undisclosed modules, such as Intel ME work, what they actually do, and the source code and design information for these technologies.
Many people are starting to suspect that these things such as Intel ME are backdoors (agents that allow remote sources to remotely access your computer). It's already been proven that Microsoft Windows have had NSA backdoors (after source-code leaks), etc.
