If you can't use the hardware, and tools, if there is a local Habitat store, they would be happy to take it, and get it to someone who can use it. It's truly sickening what gets thrown out by the corporate world without even trying to find someone who wants it. Do let us know about the functionality of some of the tools, and electronics. Keep up the good work.

@@wigreeves4097 Yes and they cost a lot of money too. I was tasked with sealing holes that we cut for plumbing. My golly they complained when I used up a lot of them. With the hole gaps it was hard to fill them up. I used UL listed mesh for drywall. I could tap the holes and then press in a large amount of the caulk and then come back later and coat it with a thick layer on top and that worked out quite well.

Tiny town I live in would not have much of anything to take if a bin even exist here. No industry to salvage from. When here in high school, I found a small dump in the back of the property and there was a heavy tele-type transformer. Had several outlets in AC and DC. Put a cord on it and worked fine but so heavy to carry 8 blocks. This was before I was 16 and driving. Good thing I dont live near bins with stuff like that in it. I would need a new building just to store things. I would be gathering up most of what I saw in video. Great find.

Cut and gut (remove risers / spacers) from the plastic tool cases, remove magnets from the drives, epoxy magnets to the back of the plastic tool cases. now have a ready box that will stick onto metal surfaces.
Can be used for tools while in dumpster by adding straps so the lid or base only opened 1/2 way, picking up lots of small metal parts. I have two that I have painted "Urban Camo" with little solar cells and batteries from various things for a Wi-Fi extender and a weather station / remote camera (I am out in the woods) Built a laptop into one (parts from a few busted laptops ) a small lead acid battery (emergency lighting) a solar panel from who knows what.. now have a rugged laptop with a heck of a range (found antennas) that cost little to nothing ... but time.

FWIW: A couple of years ago at the local dump I saw a guy disposing of two objects into the 'scrap metal object' bin {or whatever it was called}. I did not realize what they were until he actually threw them in: They were two metal ammo boxes, which looked to be in good shape.
I mentioned it to the attendant -- I thought it was a waste for them to be thrown out like that -- and the attendant actually grabbed them both and gave them to me.
I took them both home, both were in very good condition. Why the gentleman discarding them did not donate them to the local thrift store, I have no idea.

I used to make a very good living dumpster diving believe it or not. The most I ever made in one day was $30,000 cash I lived near Torrance California where the old Magnavox company and one of the things is they used to do military equipment and one of their trash cans was full of military grade 500 to 1000 pin connectors aircraft grade move to Travelers and that's the most important thing if there's no traveler with it it's worthless but each one had a traveler with it so when where it was made who was sold to originally all all the really important things well there was a total dumpster just full of these things and they're worth on the average hundred bucks a piece to five to a thousand depending on what it is it was the easiest money ever made. But I have had some even better stuff like a company that went out of business and I was able to get most of their scrap and they threw out free 1977 gold pins heavy gold pens I made a lot of money I'm not saying how much but a lot of money. And one of the things I used to do is most of my junk I sell that the TRW SW swap meet in Redondo Beach California or a couple other electronic swap meets just to get rid of the junk and I used to fill a truck up full of stuff and just sell it cheaply and come home with 5,000 bucks on on a Saturday it was great. But what I would love to find is a warehouse full of Pentium one computers and Pentium Pro computers pree 2005 because the processors are Pentium lens and depending on Pros are worth about 50 to $75 a piece just for the gold content I used to take those types of computers and just part of my people that I paid and was part of them out crush the metal and that sell the metal for 12 cents a pound and a person that would take aluminum sloppy drives out is 5-in drives and cleaning all the metal off them and I could get about a dollar a pound for clean aluminum from 5-in drives and also old car drives that were taken apart and just the aluminum
