Thundercats was my jam. Best cartoon intro ever IMO, great toys, great concept. I even did an homage comic for it. The first reboot was REALLY good but just didn't get viewership. The second comedy reboot..... I'll let others tackle that one
I can still remember vividly when Thundercats first aired in the UK on the BBC. Much, much better in every single way to He Man in my opinion yet I don't think it quite left the same cultural footprint. Glad to see the show is back more regularly!
I loved the Thundercats cartoon but never had any of the toys. My nephews had Thundercats figures but I was pretty much done with toys when they hit. The last toyline I collected was Transformers. When I stopped playing with toys I was still watching cartoons and Thundercats was one of my favorites at that time along with Galaxy Rangers.
I watched ThunderCats recently, and I think it holds up as a fantasy series. There’s definitely a lot of potential for it and definitely deserves to be reinterpreted for a future audience.
Sword and Lazer! That’s it. Some friends and I were trying to come up with a name for the Thundarr/He-Man vibe of sword and sorcery but with some futuristic stuff.
Dont forget that Thindercats was a Rankin Bass production, the people who did the stop animation Xmas and Easter Holiday Specials. Also look up the Thundercats outtakes video.
I was more of a He-Man and ThunderCats kid than a GI Joe and Transformers one not because I didn’t like the other two it’s just that for whatever reason I connected to those more. Funny thing is a lot of those 80’s cartoons to me felt like moving comic books. Even their basic premises felt like a thing that would make a cool comic. Which is why I always found the tie-in comics based on those cartoons to be baffling that they couldn’t at least capture the spirit of what the shows were trying for. I think for a lot of us that was the first time we found out that you could mix sci-fi with fantasy. You could have magic swords and lazer guns in the same show!
Reminds me of how lucky being a boy in the 80s was. Toys I collected were Action Man (UK version of GI Joe), Star Wars (the main one for me, I pretty much had everything), Transformers, Secret Wars and MASK. Had other random figures from Centurions, A Team, ThunderCats and a few Mego style figures.
So we’re up to our eyeballs in Transformers movies. We got a bunch of disposable GI Joe sequels nobody asked for… The even made a Jem and the Holograms movie! Where in TF is the ThunderCats movie!!!!
I'd love to see you guys talking about Hanna Barbera off-brand superheroes

Love the passion and enthusiasm from you two 😊

I think the past two big Thundercats reboots failed commercially. It's a shame they couldn't get a show on Netflix like Voltron did.
Thundercats, silver hawks and tigersharks were all made by the same guy and he was going for a land sea and air theme

The variety of toys and cartoons in the 80s was unmatched.. probably will never be topped.
FUCKING LOVE THUNDERCATS AND THAT HOMELESS MOM-RA🤩😎🤪💥🥓
Yeah the Ro-Bear Berbils are tedious.
Can you guys review Fat Albert? There is SO much gold to mine there.

FUN FACT 🤯: The Thundercats soundtrack has no stringed instruments except for electric guitars. It's all winds, drums, keyboards, and guitars. 🥁🎺🎸🎹
Yes, the 'furries' aspect is a bit offputting.
