Thank you so much! Between work, kids and the weather, it is easy for me to get behind sometimes. I think this series is helping me stay on track this year.
Great advice for dearth time. Only one cell on the moved ftame! Top deep, last 3 frames, one half drawn I think it was 3rd from end, would you consider moving it to the 2nd spot and/or turning it around to get them to dtaw the other side or the other frane?
You are feeding syrup with a super on, is that a concern? I pulled my super 2 weeks ago they hadn't put more any more nectar nor drawn any more comb/all stop. I didnt find the installed Q either and her laying isnt great hence more queen cells and probably another round of queenless activity. I'm done with interference even if they perish this winter, lots of honey/pollen in there only a frame and a half of brood. They are really pissy and I'm getting lots of bee love. I should have put that micro LED kit on the Q to find her easier, but the battery was a bit big for her to drag around. Good video, John.
Thanks John. I wouldn't feed them if I intended to take any honey from them but I'm not going to this year. They won't have enough and I'm concerned that they may not have enough to overwinter with. That's the reason I'm still feeding them. It's ok go feed a colony you don't intend to pull honey from all year. I'm sorry you are having such a rough year. Are you in any beekeeper groups locally? Sometimes you can find someone willing to come help out.
@@sweetbeefarms I'm a "do it yourself" kind of guy and I like bee because there are no instruction with them. Besides, I'm learning what I need from you tube and the many excellent teaching videos, including yours. There were four or five new Q cells/capped so they have a plan, I just think its too late in the season. Thx
Wow Nikki, if I didn't know better I wld think it's early spring by looking at your bees! I'm learning a lot! You mentioned that you also have a community feeder, what do you use for a feeder? I have used chicken waterers and buckets with holes drilled in them. I know people use tubs with straw in them but I've never tried that. Thanks for the lesson Nikki! It was nice to see Kiwi out supervising again. Maybe she was jealous of the butterfly lol
I do keep a log. If I'm honest, it's something I would like to get better at but between work, kids etc. it's hard to keep up. At a minimum, I record all of my mite counts and treatment dates. I keep a record of when each queen is installed and I mark all of my frames to know how old they are.
@@sweetbeefarms Thanks! I need to get better too. Failing miserably but I like the idea of marking frames. I'd like to mark on the hive lid itself but what can be used that's erasable yet waterproof?
Thanks for sharing, great content, I’ve fallen a little behind on my inspection, being a truck 🛻 driver, I find myself behind a lot.

I’ve got the same Dollar General spray bottle for my sugar water also lol
It works and it's cheap. I'm a sucker for saving money! 😁
Your awesome keep up the good work
Thank you so much!

It was one of my planned things to do. Great minds think alike!! They are improving on that frame. We are down to one from four!

Do you do record keeping on each hive? If so, what is working for you?
