garrett man I’m sayin. It doesn’t matter what the tow rating is, if you tow with it, no matter the vehicle, things are going to wear out faster. You cant expect Factory to last forever, especially if you’re towing with it on the regular. If you’re going to by a “tow rig” be prepared to pay for s built transmission. It’s a lot of $$ but it’s worth it.
@@garrettmonk8432 It has a built trans. My point is, this particular truck has been nothing but problems. I like the truck, so I'm going to keep fixing it. I do miss it, but I still believe it wouldn't have pulled this trailer very well. it was short wheelbase where this truck is a longwheel base chassis plus being a 3500 it has stiffer rear leafs, already has a built trans, and intake, tuner, exhaust. It just needs to stop breaking random stuff all the time. lol
Taylor Ray they both have their pros and cons I think with a few mods to the duramax you could’ve pulled whatever you want wherever you wanted but I do agree on why you got the dodge as far as having a gooseneck hitch and built trans, I think it’s more the quality of the duramax compared to the dodge that made it stand out
Decent video and informative about the 4th gen seats fitting in a 3rd gen. One thing that kinda messed with my head a bit is that it would have been a great time to at least vacuum the cab while the seats were out instead of installing the replacements over the top of all that debris. haha, As far as the parts failures on many of today's vehicles I feel that it is because most of the manufacturers no longer make their own parts. Just one of many examples: I had a 2001 Camaro SS with the SLP Package (Basically a lot of the same parts that the Vette had including the infamous LS1 piston slap) The brake rotors would warp between 2K-3K miles. They would just keep replacing them under warranty and I finally asked why they don't just fix the problem by producing a better rotor? Their answer was that they are made by a 3rd party manufacturer and it is cheaper for them to just keep replacing them under warranty than to have GM start making them. That is the dumbest thing that I had heard. This is a huge part of why we can't have nice things anymore. As far as the design of 3rd gen Dodge Ram is concerned their HVAC boxes Suck! Broken blend doors and diverter doors are a stupid design and a PITA to repair all of the different doors in that box. I still love my RAM but like any other truck that I've owned it's not without issues. Thanks for the video.
I don't usually post, so I feel remiss in posting something critical. My guy, your videos are awesome. Your content is awesome. BUT....why you no vacuum out the floor when the seats were out. Just saying.
Taylor, this was a huge help. I have a Gen 3 quad-cab myself and have been wanting to swap out the front and rear cloth seats for upgraded leather seats. Knowing the Gen 4's don't require a major modifications was my biggest question. I like the truck without the spacers and I think it's better to have well fitting shoes on the truck, especially when you are towing that amount of weight. Have you ordered a new vent cap for the trailer, or does it still get wet inside when it rains? She just needs some thorough tender care, not quick fixes.....because she was not maintained as well previously IMO. I have gotten as high as 26 mpg in my manual 3500. Empty of course.
All you need is good drill set and some large torx set and just drill a nice hole then pound the torx in and work it out with PB or some other penetration oil usually works for me anyway
Those are not just Dodge problems. My 2000 f250 7.3l. rubbed cooler lines went out, injectors bad, injection pressure sensor died, back pressure sensor died, and my passenger and back seat is warn. haha so true, driving through the rain has made us floridians pros, now that I'm in TN we don't have a lot of rain but when it rains it pours. I just continue through the roads while everyone else has either slowed to a crawl (which isn't safe) or pulled over.
Yeah sorry dude I’ve come to the conclusion that 3rd gens suck. I stand by my second gens all day but you will need work. I prefer the 12valve Cummins because its more reliable than a 5.9 24 valve. Im completely dumb about the 6.7l? cummins but would give it a shot for a fourth gen ram.
Agree my second gen is fantastic. I dragged my transfer case but that was my fault plowing snow with a worn chain thinking I could go one more winter....I was wrong.lol

the problem that you're having with your AC I had the same problem with my Dodge Ram pickup the system needs to be charged it's just how it comes in two the cab it goes from the driver side to the pasture side and by the time it gets to the passenger side AC is warm because the heat of the motor so I brought it to a mechanic and he just maybe go get some AC Pro stop leak put that through evacuated and recharged my truck and the AC was fine

I suggest you invest in a 4th gen they’re dropping in price as well since the 5th gen came out.. good luck on your tow rig setup! #cummins

Taylor - it’s important to remember what is a dodge problem and what isn’t. Having poor quality aftermarket lug nuts might suck, but it’s not the trucks fault. That said if you do end up switching it up, I work only in cash... ;)

When you say it's because it's a Dodge when everything that's wrong was aftermarket or broken when you bought it
Still a dodge
But it still broke in someone else’s possession. Why because it’s a dodge. I’m a big cummins fan just not a dodge fan
Aftermarket because dodge stuff failed and aftermarket is half the price and just as reliable

You have to vacuum the carpet before the install of the seats.
I highly recommend picking up a bissell portable spot carpet cleaner they are sub $100 and they are perfect for cleaning vehicle interiors
