  • "I think whether they'd like to admit it or not, they're a great team." When they're not fighting crime or fighting with one another, one must admit that Nash and Eliza make quite the pair! Felix Scott and Kate Phillips discussed the unique friendship. #masterpiecepbs #masterpiecemystery #missscarletpbs #felixscott #katephillips

I love the Scarlet/Nash pairing and can't wait til season 5😍Sooooo much better suited and fun. Stuart Martin is great (and gorgeous), but the Duke was written into a corner to the point that neither character could develop.

I loved Felix's Scott' comment about being in trouble is "their very happy place to be." Yes! Eliza and Patrick both thrive on that chaos and adventure. William on the other hand is very much a creature of order and habit. He deals with chaos and danger, but it does seem to energize him the way it does Eliza and Patrick.

The show was getting stale and predictable but when Nash came on it was a breath of fresh air and opened up different possibilities to watch.

Nash and Eliza are the best on screen couple! The Nash character is so much better than William's 3 years of angry, foot stomping, rage, every week, at Eliza's character! What on earth were the writers thinking? Glad that character is gone, hopefully for good!

Sure seems like it will take a turn as the Duke, is GONE…more than he was here in this season. Very disappointing. So now it seems he has gone for good. I shall not be watching it as it is just another show to me. No Duke, not worth it.

Since a lot of the comments don’t seem to be about the video, I’m adding my two cents here:
Massive fan of how we saw more into Nash’s history in the season finale. It’s also great to see Eliza maintain the respect and friendship of another detective, since she tends to frighten potential colleagues away.
No doubt she and the Duke will end up together (idk why everyone is panicking about that; it’s the title of the show); so while Eliza figures out how to proceed romantically, it’s wonderful to explore Nash as a morally gray foil, what Eliza might become should she dedicate her life to her work, obsess over it, and never allow space to let anyone in. He’s a wonderful cautionary tale
(Felix Scott also destroys this role; he goes from charming to terrifying at the drop of a hat!)

I also enjoyed the backstory and yes it is really nice for Eliza to be shown such constant respect. Its incredibly refreshing to see a male character not feel constantly threatened by Eliza's excellence. As for him being a cautionary tale about working too much and not letting anyone in, Patrick and Eliza do let each other in. Patrick insists she take some time for fun and takes her to the racetrack for the afternoon.
As for why everyone is panicking, I do know why. Its because Patrick, show title aside, is a better match for Eliza than William in pretty much every respect. He's more respectful, more supportive, communicates with her better, understands her more, is more aligned with her methods, and is much likely to want the future that Eliza wants. William wants domestic tranquility, a port in the storm. Some to raise his children, cook for him, take care of him. Patrick wants a trusted partner in life of challenge and excitement. As Felix Scott said, trouble is Eliza's and Patrick's "happy place."
I choose to hope the show title is a 'red' herring (Miss SCARLET). The show is focused on their relationship and respective journeys, but it does not necessarily follow those paths are the same. Take the musical "Wicked." It is primarily Glinda and Elfie's story, but they part ways at the end.

Cautionary Tale: never trust that a series title is a sure fire guarantee that the protagonists are destined together. I.e. Cagney and Lacey, Starsky and Hutch. I tried warning fans not to rely on the title since the writers kept making William less and less attractive as a life partner choice. Wildly unsuitable. If a guy betrayed a woman with her worst enemy he sunk his boat. But no, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, fans were still hung up on the stupid title. And so now, the moans and groans of suffering continue along with the inability to accept the obvious. Even those who have been as like-minded shall all soon tire of you.

Shows Felix Scott's acting range that surpasses SM. The latter, I've noticed from other sightings of him, is a nice addition when you need a tall, dark, handsome brooder when Aiden Turner isn't available.

I fell asleep during this episode - if it doesn't have the Duke in it, I'm just not interested. I think it's pathetic that they have Stuart Martin supposedly co-starring in this series, yet he's only been in half of the episodes. He's a HUGE romantic draw and totally wasted. I'm done.

Just finished Season 4 and it was a HUGE disappointment. The episodes are getting redundant and boring and it's all about Eliza solving a new mystery every week and we've been experiencing that since Season 1. I hope the writers will come up with something new because the William and Eliza thing has been dragged out past it's expiration date and I thought for sure the last episode would see Eliza heading to New York to declare her love to William. I hope they bring Moses back and add some new female characters to the show because it's just not interesting anymore. What a shame.
