Hello, it's possible that it will hold on drywall, but you need to make sure that the load holds. It all depends on the glass you use and the number of fixing points (standoff) you use! Your drywall must be of a good thickness. 😉

In general, the base material must be solid; in cases like the one you mention, a tube or jacket should be used, which allows the glass to be compressed against the jacket and not against the plasterboard.
