    With over 30% of the season behind us, clear patterns are beginning to take some shape
    So far this season, the best three-player lineup has been: Avdija + Banton + Camara.
    Per-36, they are putting up impressive stats: 24:13 assists-to-turnovers, 12 stops, and a +15 (+/-) rating (3-Quarters score 96-81).
    This trio has impressive offensive efficiency playing together with 52%FG 45%3PT, with a rock solid defense holding opponents with 44%FG 30%3PT
    coming up next Clingan is the obvious choise in the paint.
    In my opinion, adding another ball handler to the current scheme could risk the Blazers returning to their tendency of forcing bad shots due to a lack of ball movement, so the last piece I'd add would be Sharpe - not to run the offense but to finish plays.
    Banton and Avdija running the offense together works significantly better than any other duo.
    Sixth man -> Scoot
    The raw numbers indicate that this should be the foundation of the team moving forward.
    Also, nice to haves: their ages are 20, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25 (average 22.1)
    I don't know how you're marketing Ayton ($34M), Grant ($30M), and Simons ($26M), but they need to be moved ASAP. Lower the demands if needed, settle for lesser picks, just get something in return. That's $90M locked up in the roster, which could be redirected toward a couple hard-working team-oriented players, or in an ideal scenario even two All-Stars

The east is wide open, and I think we need to move those folks. Don't really care what we get back, just open up the line-up, so our younger players can get court time and build chemistry together.

    Bring the fire! Mike, you are more fired up than the entire team. It really does seem like everyone on this team is on a lame duck season. Nobody cares, and they are just waiting for the tank to start, which is very sad for the fans and player development! I think you touched on it, but we really need our ownership to move on more than anything right now, and they are legally obligated to do so. What would happen right now if Pual was still alive? I don't think he would have just shrugged and did nothing. There are issues with the front office, for sure, some of the decisions are baffling but some of them are actually quite good, so it is hard to say everything is bad. Ultimately the ownership sets the table, and it is quite clear that there are no repercussions for the time being, so sadly we are likely on this train for a while :(

    I always appreciate your nuance in connecting all the variables into an equation that makes sense. I’m sick of the members (or perhaps singular very vocal member?) of the media gaslighting fans into thinking they’re stupid for saying Chauncey is a bad coach while themselves (himself?) refusing to say that anyone other than the players are in the wrong (while also claiming those players are extremely valuable and should have frothy trade markets, but that’s neither here nor there). We need more pass first point guards in the Blazers media landscape (ignoring for a moment that a team consisting of nothing but pass first point guards would have a very hard time putting the ball in the hoop. Make of this analogy as you will)

  • @chadmerrill2636

    As soon as Simon’s and Ayton are gone, the sooner this team will get wins. Simon’s needs to go first ,as we won’t get anything in return anyways. Who would pay him the kind of money he makes? Ayton can go in the off season as he still has value to some teams like Washington. Billups will have to go as well. He would be a great assistant coach but it’s pretty clear that he’s not fit to be in the captains chair, here in Portland. Grant should be moved as well. Portlands crazy for not trading for that first round pick from the Lakers. Scoot, (the big general) and the rest of the team are keepers. We need 1 more high level defender and 2 more scorers. And it would be nice to have an active owner who really understands basketball and basketball business. But first and foremost GET RID OF SIMONS. Folks, he is the elephant in the room. When he’s in the lineup the team is confused and out of sorts. It’s sooooo clear, just look at the numbers as a whole when he runs the point 💯. And to this podcast Billups is still here because we have nice ownership.. and for those who don’t know, business is cut throat, not nice. Respectful, but cut throat, just ask Mr. Cuban.

    I think since we have so many young and nuance pieces, we need to replace Billups now, in season. We need to bring in a veteran coach, maybe just for one season, to organize and define the team. Need to trade Ant ASAP, trade him to the magic straight up for Anthony and let Anthony rot on the bench. DA has probably the most value since he is elite rebounder, trade him straight up for Ben Simmons and let Ben play 10-15 minutes per game, he is still a good defender, can switch up. Grant is harder to trade because of his contract and current play. Keep Grant and hope that his scoring picks up and then trade him.
