It is used for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on Earth’s surface.

In GIS global reference system WGS 84 (World Geodetic System 1984) is used for geospatial information.

Support research activities by providing spatial and attribute data
Produce maps/plans and other products in standardized format for multi purpose uses.
It keeps information in different layers and generates various combinations pertaining to the requirement of the decision making.
It is a spatial database management system that can analyze, query and display data using digitized maps and tables for planning and decision-making.
