THISTLECRACK sparkles in King George on just fourth start over fences (2016)

What a racehorse.
Thistlecrack looked more or less invincible in the golden spell of his career from the start of the 2015/16 campaign, racking up a winning spree of nine consective victories concluding with this splendid King George VI Chase triumph for Tom Scudamore, Colin Tizzard and John and Heather Snook in the midwinter showpiece at Kempton Park.
Remaarkably, Thistlecrack had debuted over fences only two months previously and this was just his fourth start over fences, but still proved far too good on his forst assignment at the top level outside of novice company against established stars including brilliant stablemate Cue Card and fellow serial Grade 1 performer Silviniaco Conti.
This was to prove the final victory of a stellar career.
