I couldn't imagine someone being called chopper in todays game. The pitches are far better today, Derbys old Baseball ground was a disgraceful state. Despite that I still prefer the game as it used to be, the Premier league for me is over hyped and soulless. If you never went to games back in the 60s 70s or 80s, you can't really compare because you never experienced the atmosphere of those stadiums.
spot on mate ,this is sort of what i said to people who rubbished my opinion on the last video, i experienced both so i was giving an honest opinion, For me back then it was full of emotion, raw, edgey just totally different and i loved it
Great point someone made about the back pass rule. The same applies to the lack of respect for the FA Cup these days. It used to be absolutely massive and winning it felt as good as winning the league. The dodgy FA Cup finalists' songs as well. They just added to it. It was fun and magic. Now it doesn't even seem to matter to some clubs, which is blasphemy! The Premier League takes itself too seriously and is just a business now. The really worrying thing is that The Championship is becoming a Premiership B League. Some of the clubs in that league are absolutely massive and are spending crazy amounts of money. The gulf between the small town clubs and the big boys is getting bigger and bigger. It breaks my heart to see so many grand old clubs like Bury going out of existence. It's great to see them coming back, but this is only happening because of the money involved in the game now. In my fantasy world I would like to take the advantages away and make football a level playing field and a sport again. Imagine if only players born in Manchester could play for the Manchester clubs or people born on Merseyside could play for Merseyside clubs. You'd have to be in a catchment area to play for a club in the bigger cities. Same thing up and down the country. It evens things out and you'd basically have 11 fans on the pitch for every team and they'd give it everything. No transfer fees and wages capped. No one could buy a title. Your success would be based on the quality of the players your club brought through their academies and the quality of your coaching. Never going to happen, but one can dream.
some brilliant points there mate, massively appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. man some of those fa cup songs they were shocking but great at the same time
@@FootballTheDadstalk Yeah, the songs were pants, but I used to love the players looking so awkward in the videos. It was just a bit of fun that added to it. And sometimes deciding which team had the better song was more entertaining than the final itself! Everything is just about money now.
@FootballTheDadstalk Keep it up mate. Premier League is a shell of what it used to be. I'm from Walsall originally but now live in America. I watch all the televised matches here week in, week out, but they're just boring. Passing back, not taking on players, time wasting, diving, bad officiating, VAR, premaddonas the list goes on. I wish we were back in the 90s for Football. I always go back and watch Match of the Day from the 90s and it's absolutely brilliant. Watching players get taken out, but get right back up. The good days of Football are just a fond memory.
I’m an American and I have been a huge fan of English football since 2006. The Premier League was magic back then, but as of late I find myself more interested in the Championship. I would love to check out Non-League football if had access to it.
Completely agree about The Championship. It's a great league, but money is slowly taking that over now as well. There are some huge clubs in that league. It's the place to be as far as I am concerned. It's competitive and far less predictable. Same can be said of the lower leagues. It's far more interesting and more true to football's roots.
@@FootballTheDadstalk 1 story I still love (yes before I was born) is the Wimbledon story beating probably the greatest Liverpool team in the FA Cup you won’t see a story like that again
I loved the old division one of the 1970’s and 80’s. There’s simply too much money in the premier league, and it’s both corrupting and ruining football.
Prem and european football could still be great for like 15 or more years post prem formation though the cracks were forming its really gone downhill since 2010😢😢 especially european football were teams from only three or four leagues could win the CL. In 90s likes of rangers celtic eastern European teams were competitive in europe
@@FootballTheDadstalkI have no objections to it gets lower down teams European experience and another chance to win trophy. Would love my team Everton to be in it and win❤❤ Yes I'd love em to bring back cup winners cup though would that be what it was ?? I miss the standing. Yes it was dangerous. But it got the adrenalin rush. Besides everything was dangerous back then. Jumping off or even onto moving buses for example. Cycle nelmets, your 'avin a laugh. Seatbelts were an optional extra. Part of me wishes the big clubs just go off and play in some superleague or something. Look forward to the day london reds complain about MU playing home games in Tokyo, LA or China, where the 'fans' pay to sit and be entertained by the product, and the crowd noise is added in production like some video game to avoid any hurty words.

You could build a sandcastle on the baseball ground, proper football
fa cup finals of the 80's was all classics
they were mate, loved the coventry spurs final in particular
@@FootballTheDadstalk Coventry v Spurs is the first that came to my mind as well. The chances of a final between those two clubs now is zero.
Sunderland v Leeds.
