Hello! This is a long one folks so get comfy and let's hang out! Links are in the description! ❤🐔
Is Elizabeth pregnant?
I also knit a chicken (I blame you), but out of sock yarn, so it’s a mini-chick. Her name is just Hen, because she’s HENough 😊
Every one of your videos feels like sitting down and hanging out with a good friend. I always enjoy them. And your boys are so darling! They are doing so great!
Thank you so much, my friend! The feeling is mutual. ❤❤
Your kids are too cute…I love that they are knitting!! ❤
Good job boys!!❤
I really enjoyed the energy in your video today. I was especially amused by the eyeball granny square. I was laughing along with you. Your boys are precious. I have also used Patons for socks for my grandson and have been pleasantly surprised at how well they hold up.
So we’re gonna need more of your boy’s knitting adventures ❤️👍🧶
Cutest thing I’ve seen all week!
I was not prepared for the level of cuteness that is the end of this video🥰
Those children are adorable they are definitely your best WIP
I had like fifteen sock pairs worth of sock yarn at one point... I'm down to one now. You can't have too many hand knit socks.
The evil eye blanket lol 😅😂 also you can clean the hen by leaving it under the sun during torturous summer of Las Vegas.
Here for the Extra Cute Special Guest content ❤
Omg I am like crying, it is so amazing to see your boys trying out knitting for themselves! 😭😭😭
My favorite episode of all time! The joy from your chicken, the silliness of the eyed granny square and then your two boys sharing their excellent work! What an excellent video, brought me so much joy while I knit a sock of my own ❤
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Kristen! Thank you so much for watching. ❤❤❤❤
laughing about the boys! As soon as you told your youngest to be careful of the candle he starts touching it! LOL BOYS!
Between the chaos of the chicken and the cuteness of your boys, this has to be my favorite episode yet!
Actually, my 11yo daughter is currently obsessed with drawing eyeballs, so she would LOVE a granny square blanket covered in eyes!
44:46 omg I cried when I saw the boys talk about their knitting! Sooooooo precious! I taught my children at the same time; boys 10 and 11 girls were 5and 7 this was in 2005 😉
The boys are doing so well! Amazing progress!
Being a guy myself, I ALWAYS make the toes and heels in a solid or contrast yarn. It just saves the hassle of possibly running out of MC. Also, I NEVER block for the reason you mentioned. I appreciate the enthusiasm in your videos.
We’re all casting on the weird eyeball granny square blanket yes? Just me? 😂🤷🏼♀️👀
I mean, it’s an opportunity of a lifetime, to say the least. 😎
It was fun watching your immense pride in Angus' and Ronan's knitting skills, and their presentation skills. 🥰
Oh my goodness your little knitting babies! 😍 How adorable and ummm.... professional podcasters or what?
The boys were sooooo precious❤❤❤❤
Your boys are adorable! It's so nice to see you have taught them to knit and they both seem to be enjoying their new hobby! Congrats on fantastic parenting skills. You looked proud as can be having them show off their work!
That hood is a great idea! The eyeballs OMG I am so glad I wasn’t taking a drink of hot tea! 😂😂😂😂😂 Your boys are adorable and doing really well with their knitting! Bravo!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌵
Thank you Catherine! And I know. The eyeball is next level creepy. 😂
Awww... your boys are knitting, that's fantastic! They are just precious. I taught my daughter to knit at about their age, though it didn't turn out to be her thing. Still, a love of hand craft instilled from early childhood has added to her appreciation and love of all things handmade, and her current love of making stained glass.
Your sons are precious!
Thank you so much. ❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations to your boys and their knitting projects🎉! They look like they did a great job. 👍
Omg and your boys are ADORABLE! And I love that they are knitting!!!! I tried teaching my kids when they were younger too ❤
Another great episode. But can we talk about how adorable your boys are???? OMG. They brought tears to my eyes. Thanks is for sharing ❤
In theory the safety eyes are supposed to protect young children from swallowing them, but I think most crafters will use a tad of Superglue to the back part 🤷🏼♀️
im a little obsessed with the granny square with an eye 😂
Those boys are precious! Well done!
your kids are so precious! You can tell they really trust you; you must be a very supportive mom ❤ also I'm a big fan of your emotional support hen!
I enjoyed your guest knitters in today’s episode. You should be a proud mama!
I got back from Morro Bay and Monterey yesterday. Bought a lot of yarn at the local shops there and unintentionally purchased all the exact same color for different projects.
LOVED seeing your boys and their projects!!!❤
your kids are doing awesome!!!! :o you must be so proud!!!
OMG your boys are adorable ❤️
I was scrolling through RUclips and saw Elizabeth ZimmerHEN and decided to watch. Now I have decided to subscribe. What a fun podcast
Good job with Elizabeth. Hopefully if you have to clean her it would be spot cleaning. If she’s dusty you could vacuum her. 😊
I just finished my chicken and her name is Aretha FrankHEN. I love her!! I also would never make anything like this but I sure enjoyed making her!
Your boys did a Fabulous job!!!
Your mini crafters are adorable!
I love your videos so much but I think you have competition now, your boys are the cutest! I think this should be a regular feature.
You create the hood part by splitting and working flat, then Kitchener the top.
🤯🤯🤯 yes!!! Makes perfect sense! Thank you!
I would be very interested in a hood pattern similar to the hood you purchased-it looks so light, drapery and yet warm! I like the two you mention, however the simplicity of the purchased one is so classic. I hadn’t thought of carrying one when traveling, but your description of its warmth and convenience sounds perfect! (Love your videos!) 😀
aww your kids are so cute, angus made me almost tear up, he was so precious about his knitting!
I would love a video focusing on hoods! Also your boys are so precious and are doing an awesome job on their knitting! Way to go boys!
Will do!!
Oh how I’ve missed your podcast!!!!! Kind of lost the knitting mojo for awhile! Sure loved watching and seeing the chicken and socks and tees! Oh my!!!
😂😂😂 the granny square eye! 👁️
That's great, teaching your boys how to knit! When they grow up they can teach their wives. I have knit an Emotional Support Chicken as well. I call her Lindsey LoHen.
Now I want a biblically accurate angel blanket. BE NOT AFRAID!
🤣 literally exactly what I was thinking
Fyi about safety eyes, safety eyes are technically not safe for children under 3. If you're worried about them coming off (or as added safety), you can put on the back, then melt the post until it's flat. But they're still not safe for babies. There are crochet amigurumi videos that show how.
Elizabeth is a gorgeous hen. I'm making one for my sister, she'll just love it! The Coco Amour hood has been in my queue for next winter, but I'd love to see your deep dive. Monterey is amazing! I'll be there in 8 weeks when my next grand is born, but I have alot of baby knitting to power through before then. Glad you enjoyed Spring Break!
I am so obsessed with the fact that your boys are knitting! I hope you are showing them all the other men that knit and disprove to them that knitting is just for women! When is your husband going to start to knit? Haha
Thank you Zack! I am SO excited for them as well, and I'll tell you they have no qualms at all about knitting as boys because they watch a lot of other knitters on RUclips who happen to be men. I'm so proud that they see it for what it is and not for who it's "supposed" to be for (which is EVERYONE). 😉
Ronan's chunky scarf is so cool! I love Angus's yarn choice. The rainbow is awesome and I think the finished project will be too!
The eyeball granny square is hilarious.
I was taught to make the heels and toes a different color. All the older Quebec French ladies up in northern Vermont knit their socks that way.
I’ve never used a sock blocker. I just do it the way you spoke of with your husband’s socks.
Like your talks🤩
the harry styles mug filled me with joy 🌞🍒🍓🍇🍉
☺️☺️☺️☺️
you held up that granny square and in my head I just hear "BE NOT AFRAID" 😂
13 is big. Even in smaller sizes, I ALWAYS add alternate toes and heels. Not only is it classy, but it's a good plan for future repairs. Always.
Hello. Great chat. I’m so happy I stuck around for the ending and seeing your boys with their knitting projects. Enjoy your week.
Oh my, your sons are the cutest! Start them young. Just adorable. Their work actually looks amazing. And so it begins. Think about starting them with a cowl or a hat in the round. I find that is great for teaching newbies including kids. Congrats!
You make me truly appreciate pattern designers. I usually freehand my garments because I had a few bad experiences when buying patterns as they looked like a rush job and an after-thought. Listening to the care you put into your designs (in addition to the care you put into your own garments) makes me want to try them!
The boys are so cute and good for them knitting and podcasting :D
I love that the boys are so interested in learning to knit. Job well done mom.
Your son's are so cute, (tell them they are handsome). They are doing a great job knitting!! They have excellent taste in colors. Your husband's socks are beautiful! Love your striped tee too. So nice to meet your sons.
I feel like that granny square with the new eye needs to be a pillow now!😂❤
TOTALLY!!!
Your boys are adorable 😭 so sweet and I hope they keep knitting for a long time!
Those kids are just the cutest 🥰
OMG I posted before your adorable boys showed their knitting. The rhyme is perfect 😊
OK I had to come back and say how talented and adorable your boys are! Bravo boys!!
yes to the hood! Hope you write up a pattern 😊
Your granny square is giving biblically accurate old testament angel
Yes! 😂
Omg that was so precious when you brought your boys on🥹
I'm imagining a granny square cardigan with eyes in the middle. 😂
I love that chicken so much, 😂 shes giving “im always watching mike wazowski” vibes ❤❤❤❤
"Aaaaaaaawwwwwlwayyysss watching." 🐤
Enjoyed the snaps of your beautiful family. And the chicken. That chicken is everywhere! It has the perfect name, like the frankensweater.
😂...The Eyes Have It granny square blanket is calling me!!! Lol, I can't stop seeing it!
Really enjoyed your boys sharing their knitting enthusiasm too! Another fun video, thanks❤
Had to stop the vid and say you inspired me to make Elizabeth Zimmerhen a sister. SO. CUTE. Used your Amazon eyes and stuffing, too. That wool is silky and barely smells of lanolin. Love it! Hugs to you and your sweet fam!
Your chicken is so cute. I may need to have one…
OH MY GOSH! How cute your boys are! Just love them❤
The teddy bear blanket took me OUT - I love your podcasts but this one was extra sweet. Thanks for sharing!
Saving this for when I finally get around to making my giant footed spouse socks. Honestly knitting two sleeves worth of sock seems easier than continuing to hunt for a store bought pair that he likes AND fits his feet without immediately getting a hole from being over stretched.
I made a hood like that by using a huge sock formula, but no toe
I, too, fell in love with the Emotional Support Chicken. I wouldn't have cared what it was called, I would have made it anyway. I made one in worsted weight yarn and gave it to my grandson who is crazy about anything chicken. I am currently working on a fingering weight chicken, just have the undersection to finish and then attach the eyes, sew together, and stuff. Fun to knit and quick to knit.
I am interested for you to go down the hood, rabbit hole. I am currently knitting the Holly Scarf, which is a hooded scarf. So far I am liking it. It will be nice when walking the dog on cold mornings.
Your boys are so precious! I taught my 3 boys how to crochet but none have stuck with it, praying you don’t have the same experience. To get the sticky residue off the bottom of your cup, mix cooking oil with baking soda to make a paste. Apply to the area and let sit about 10 minutes. It should then just wipe right off.
Imagine someone putting a glass down on the granny square coaster only to realize it's watching them
😂😂😂
The granny square eye blanket idea reminds me of the Wrinkle In Time book series for some reason.
Love the chicken!!
This is cute that your sons want to learning how to knit. Good job having the patience to teach them.
Oh my goodness, that little hand reaching out at the end to touch the candle after you said it was dangerous…so hilarious! Especially as a boy mom, totally real life, it made me laugh out loud! 😂 I love the name of our chicken, it’s amazing and made all my kids laugh and want one 😊
Super fun episode! I also raised two boys and loved seeing your fellas present their projects. One of my guys also loves rainbows. I’m finishing my third pair of socks now and don’t feel I’ve mastered them just yet. Was just thinking of shopping for new Kroy! They come in fun colors and already divided.
The hood is really cool. I’d like to knit similar.
My girls are working on their knitting, too. My oldest (10) has been knitting for a few months and just cast on her first pair of socks (and first in the round/magic loop project), and my youngest (7) has recently decided she’s ready so we cast on a garter stitch dish towel last week!
I’m loving the eyeball blanket idea! 😂 I also really love the hood/balaclava recommendations! I am hoping to soon cast on one of Kutovakikas hood patterns but I can’t decide between her Grandmacore Hood or her Cozy Coco Hood 😊
I am that person who is going to make the blanket. Might take me a while, but I’ll do it!
Your boys are so cute!! I love that they wanted to learn more about their mom’s passion. I taught some friend’s kids how to knit using a much more violent 😂 rhyme that I learned on the internet: “ Stab it, strangle it, scoop out its guts, throw it off a cliff” 😂😂 the two girls (9 and 13) loved it and caught on quickly.
i love your kiddos!!! ADORABLE!!!
Your boys are so handsome AND very smart to learn knitting at their age!!! 😊💕
