For me it's the child in the attic from TWD Season 1. Not only is it sad enough you're seeing the tragedy of this kid who starved to death alone after his parents killed themselves and hardly has the strength to get to you, but you also have to watch your friend once again go through the grief of the death of his son, a scene from the episode before that's probably the most powerful and tragic in the game apart from the end of the season.
Honestly, this is why I can’t stomach playing zombie games; they look so much like people, and knowing they suffered til they became undead, and probably helped others have the same horrific fate unwillingly, it’s just... look, I know it’s a game, but I’m soft.

For an interesting twist on the "tragic zombie", consider Bassilus's family in the first Baldur's Gate game. The twist is that they are not actually his family members. His real family was killed in Zhentil Keep after Bassilus left them to die, after which he went mad and started resurrecting zombies so he can pretend they are his family. When you first encounter him, he's badgering his "brother" to "grace our ears with a ripping tale of the old days." The zombie baby/fetus things in Dying Light. First time I encountered one was at night while hiding from the massive zombies I'd wound up outdoors. Heard it crying and then was given the option to press 'x' to quiet the baby. Not sure if anyone has said this but the guy in RE revelations. The one like "maydayyyyyyy, this is the Queen Zenobia". Other than being down right terrifying, he yells "Stop, I'm human!" While shooting him in the face. Also means he was trying to radio for help all alone when he zombified.
gotta say I agree. The camera angle was honestly kinda jarring. Also, is the camera above him? It looks like he's looking up at the camera, which also doesnt help
@@dalekrek2213 It's probably in a higher position than him, hence the angle. Either way, it is a bit odd to see him staring straight on, rather than at an angle while he sits comfortably in a chair.
Makes me think of that great Irish (?) film The Cured - where they've figured out how to cure most zombies, but they remember what they did. PTSD galore and discrimination as they get reintroduced into society.
There are two such cases in the Path of Exile. 1) Tolman. The story begins in the quest "Lost in Love" and ends in the quest "Love is Dead" 2) The second tragedy takes place in the Crossroads. Where gradually through the notes the story of a woman in a zombie apocalypse that began in their small village is told. Her skeleton appears after collecting all the notes, it does not always appear.
Jade from Dying Light? First her partner Amir was eaten, then her brother Rahim turned into a zombie (who we also had to kill) and then we had to kill her as well after she turned.
It was a pity that her death was done as a cut scene rather than a battle though. She would've been a badass zombie boss. Obvs would've still felt bad for killing her.
Let's take a moment to appreciate the voice actor for Marvin in RE4. Being, probably, the first believable VA in any RE game. I cried way to much while playing the first and second game. Lol
Unrelated but in infamous 2, the evil ending, always got to me. Zeke was your pal the whole first game and almost all of the second game.
Not entirely. He screwed Cole over and worked with Kessler in the first game.
@@jamesvivian2855 ah yeah you right
I could be not be remembering this correctly but in left for dead 2 there is a chance when in the wedding area, while killing or after killing the bride witch a tank shows up in a the tuxedo. Always thought that was the groom.
that is just a voiceline lol
its also a skin for the tank but a tank does not show up in a tuxedo
he probably is
What the hell does that mean ? Does the tank wear a the tuxedo ? Is the woman the groom ? Was this woman really going to marry a tank ?
@@baofleurence7650 My apologies I should have used better grammar there. I have a distinct memory while playing Left 4 Dead 2, of running into what is called the Bride witch (The witch in a bridal gown) of a tank showing up either while fighting the witch or after killing the witch. And that particular tank was in a torn up tuxedo. But this could be a corrupted memory of mine I have problems with that. I always believe that that was a thing. And that somehow both the bride and the groom of the wedding became mutated zombies

"They say it's good luck to get brain on your wedding day". Hands down the best line I've ever heard from all the videos of the OutsideXbox channel.
They said rain. It’s good luck to get rain. It’s said to signify that your marriage will last.
I usually don't play zombie games because they scare me. But, Fallout and their ghouls are basically zombies as well, since they attack anyone in sight from the radiation destroying their brains. Those get me emotionally, some of the stories behind some of the ghouls
Resident Evil really likes this trope, the more I learned about Lisa Trevor the more I just want to put her to rest.
I don't. I want to hug her. :/

@@huuamai8151 She's the enemy in Resident Evil REmaster for the Gamecube that occasionally attacks you in and around the mansion. Us Government: nuke go big boom
Markiplier never killed Marvin.
When you first encounter him, he's badgering his "brother" to "grace our ears with a ripping tale of the old days." And you can't talk your way out of the fight, so one way or another, Bassilus and his "family" are about to die.
There was a zombie in Baldur's Gate that was the main character's friend who died but retained his mind. I swear there was one in BG2.
@@aprilrichards762 I think you're thinking of Rielev from Baldur's Gate 2. If so, three notes on that:
#1: He was a friend of the antagonist, not the main character.
#2: He wasn't really a zombie. More akin to a brain in a jar.
#3: He straight up asks you to pull the plug on him.
@@Terastas it's been so long since I played BG2. I need to get it set up on my laptop.

What actually happened to the witch: She was fine one day, later on, her husband filed a devorce. What happened to the smoker: He was smoking before the stuff happened, he turned into a special type of zombie. What happened to the tank: The the tank was someone who went to the gym and took steroids. Nothing special. And finally, what happened to the Charger: He took steroids like the tank, in the game he has a really shriveled arm. Miria from Diablo 3 knew what was coming. Later in the game you find a seer, who helps you "sort your gear" essentially she mix and match your equipments buffs. Sir Samwise That’s even more horrifying! They’re women who are raped and fed blood and bile until they turn! 😱
Makes me think of that great Irish (?) film The Cured - where they've figured out how to cure most zombies, but they remember what they did. PTSD galore and discrimination as they get reintroduced into society.
There are two such cases in the Path of Exile.
1) Tolman. The story begins in the quest "Lost in Love" and ends in the quest "Love is Dead"
2) The second tragedy takes place in the Crossroads. Where gradually through the notes the story of a woman in a zombie apocalypse that began in their small village is told. Her skeleton appears after collecting all the notes, it does not always appear.
Just realized that Marvin saying “uniform or not, don’t hesitate” stems from him hesitating when Brad nite him.

Jade from Dying Light? First her partner Amir was eaten, then her brother Rahim turned into a zombie (who we also had to kill) and then we had to kill her as well after she turned.
And she was forced to turn so we could get the antizen (not sure if it is spelled that way)
