The combo is great but honestly Broodlord on it's own is pretty insane just as a way to pivot into your combo lines in a layered deck. I've added the package to my Dihada build and it's wonderfully flexible. Great to scaffold into a breach line, gets Abdel going and replaced Razaketh in the list kind of superbly. I dont regret it at all. It's actually pretty cool if you can get it in play with Abdel too. So long as you're not disturbed you can blink it to exile your deck and use any number of soldiers to play whatever you need whenever you need. Sure you don't get black or red but it's still excellent value.
It could have excellent possibilities and capacity not only to assemble a wincon, but it also can search for a big interaction card plus the mana for cast it depending on what's on the table. Even you could cast Tooth & Nail to win with Coercive + Kiki too. Certainly doesn't work as a staple wincon for other black and/or multicolored decks but is a solid one combo
While watching this I was contemplating working this into my TnT Reanimator deck, and the list is already very tight. What I would need to add to make this work is the Hoarding Broodlord, Saw in Half, Peer into the Abyss, as well as Sacrifice and/or Burnt Offering. As you said, without Saw in Half the dragon is pretty underwhelming, something like Sidisi or Rune-Scarred would just be better. Saw in Half can have decent value lines, but essentially only works with Hoarding Broodlord if you want to pump out an efficient win. Peer into the Abyss is obviously an amazing card, but requires a non-zero amount of synergy to produce a win that turn. Sacrifice and Burnt Offering have niche uses outside of the combo, but nothing to write home about. All in all, while this combo is very cool, it seems to me that it takes away from an optimized list more than it adds to it. But I may be wrong, I will test this idea either way to see if it works. Keep up the good work, I love your content!
if anything, this should make cards like Vile Entomber, Oriq Loremage, and Unmarked Grave more valuable to have as they all allow putting the dragon in the graveyard from the library. And then you just reanimate it with any effect allowing pulling the dragon from graveyard to battlefield. This alone should make Chainer, Dementia Master as a commander option become number one or top five.
What do u think about saw in half broodlord get burnt offering and Kiki… 8 red in pool, tap a broodlord and pay 4 for Kiki. Tap Kiki make another broodlord. That broodlord gets zealous conscripts, use the final 4 red and tap the broodlord for conscripts and win.
Isn't the dragon busted in krikk? a lot of reanimation is played anyways, and he is 5 mana and six life, and since you have krikk in play, you just convoke the saw-in-half using krikk and the dragon and pay 2 life for it, then pay 2 life for sacrifice, and win from peer?
Pending mana there are 7 lines using saw and the dragon. It doesn’t have to be Pita. You can go dragon to get saw and then have the new dragons grab a reanimate effect and buried alive to assemble the ooze/Asmodeus/skirge line to draw your deck for example too.
It's nutty in general. Like Scott said, if this card resolves, you go get Buried Alive and a reanimate and draw out your entire deck with the combo and win through interaction. Depending on the state of the game, you can also assemble the Chainer/Dimir infinite revival combo as well if you have Gray Merchant either on board or in grave already (actually, now that I think about it, you could literally just send Merchant, Dimir and Chainer to the grave and reanimate Chainer and start the loop by bringing back Merchant, then Dimir then tributing Merchant and going off, gaining more life than spent each time).
I always love when a card like hording brootlord finds it way into cedh. Because you don't expect a big high cmc dragon in such a fast format. Also could you turn scion into a brootlord when you have saw in half in hand or would you make two non brootlord scion tokens when you saw the scion
it has convoke, there is a scenario you can cast this for free. think about whilhelt deck, a lot of zombies... leads to phyrexian alter and gravecrawler for the win for free.
Wait a second, I thought tokens technically had no mana value? Wouldn't that mean that sacrificing one of the token Broodlord's to Burnt Offering would produce 0 mana? Culling the Weak would be a better option if that's the case, which wouldn't be very good by comparison. EDIT: So as far as the rules go, it's looking like the token Broodlords could potentially retain their mana value as copies of the permanent in question under the condition that it is a permanent in play, but then the question arises of whether or not they are actually copies of a permanent in play since the permanent in question would have been destroyed before the creation of the tokens...Clarity is needed lol
707.2. When copying an object, the copy acquires the copiable values of the original object’s characteristics and, for an object on the stack, choices made when casting or activating it (mode, targets, the value of X, whether it was kicked, how it will affect multiple targets, and so on). The copiable values are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by its face-down status, and by “as . . . enters the battlefield” and “as . . . is turned face up” abilities that set power and toughness (and may also set additional characteristics). Honestly I don't know if I understand it. I am not a judge. This is the rule I found. There might be a different rule I should find.
@@cedhtv Right, I'm no judge either, far from it. I hope that it works as described here, though! I suppose it would depend on whether the destruction of the original Broodlord is happening simultaneously with the creation of the tokens, in which case they would retain value...? I'm just not sure if that's what the wording specifically implies, or if that would even be the case if so...Magic is hard 😅
I think you're considering that all tokens are created equal. If a card has you create a token (ie: 3/3 green beast or treasures) then it doesn't have a mana value bc nothing 'told it' to have a CMC. When creating a token copy, it will copy all values of that card, including CMC (more similar to how a clone effect would work)
Broodlord has done better than Worldgorger as a reanimation target in Anje Falkenrath for me, loving this combo
I wonder if it would be a good choice for Evelyn, the Covetous, and if there's a superior alternative to Worldgorger for her.
I'm trying to upgrade my anje deck, can i see your decklist?

This is so awesome finishing move for Dragon's Approach deck.
The best hoarding broodlord commander is chatterfang! Squirrels to convoke is insane opening up more combo lines in the deck.
I bought a couoke copies of this card when it first came out as i wanted them for a few decks. Very cool card.

Sneak Attack and Through The Breach also help to get the combo out as well if you already have the shell.
Yeah. Those really work to.
I'm actually working on building the polymorph version of this combo, as a tier 3/high power grixis deck, im curious if any of y'all have advice
Grixis deck with polymorph? What commander are you playing here?
@@cedhtvI would guess RogSi
Audio cuts out a bit in the beginning bro. Cool video, cool combo.
This combo reminds me a bit of Inallas combo, just not as complicated 🙂 really like this combo
This combo looks good in my Jan Jansen deck

ah quick question. doesn't Sacrifice or Burnt Offering generate 0 mana if you sac one of the tokens? I thought tokens were always 0 cmc
NO they have the same CMC as original.
@@cedhtv ah cool didnt know that :)

I use this in K'rrik but I played against someone playing Rakdos Chainer and it was absolutely amazing as it was my first time seeing the line

Dragon is so good. Easy reanimate and entomb.

Can also neoform/eldritch evolution tasgur into it
zirilan of the claw into broodlord
Awesome
Wait what's difference between this and Rune-scarred Demon?
Isn't it doing the same thing?
it has convoke, there is a scenario you can cast this for free. think about whilhelt deck, a lot of zombies... leads to phyrexian alter and gravecrawler for the win for free.
Its the convoke that opens up everything.

Saw in half on Grey Merchant is better and cheaper
